Climate change 'could kill of Alpine skiing' - OECD
Dan- replied to mtnbiker99x's topic in General Chat
If that happens we and live... Well then ill have to move to alaska, or europe then.. And there would be a good chance of the East coasters dying aswell.. Obviously you didn't watch to well, becuase there doesn't have to be alot of ash to kill you, just by breathing in any at all, it can greatly affect, if not kill you. The particles are so small and sharp, that by breathing them in, it's cutting your lungs.. And it will cause death. It's a very real possiblity, and it's due to errupt. It's been on a 600k Year pattern, and the 600k is about up, but thats not saying much. Saying thats up, means it could erupt in a 1000 years or so, and it'd still be in the time period, it was planned... -
Im in Abington. Township Line-309-turnpike-Ne Extension-145 On mornings with no traffic, i can get there in an hour. So i pretty much skip all the city driving you have to do, to get out of Philly. But im right on the edge of abington, bordering NE Philly, which is 1 block from my house.

Rain forests dont do as much as you'd think. The organisms that take the most carbon dioxide out from the atmosphere is the Fido Plankton. You can also give them credit for making some much oil under the ocean. Well. if the icesheet falls into the water all together, which is will in the future, the gulf stream will be haulted all together, which would give the northeast US, aswell as europe much much colder temps. But yes, the gradual melting is starting to disrupt that current. -

Actually the only way to get colder temps right now would be. 1. A major Volcanic eruption. Would give us colder temps for a few years. 2. Pollute our atmosphere so much, it blocks the suns rays. This did actually happen in the late 70's. We polluted so much, the earth started cooling down, due to the blocking of the suns rays. Yes the ozone does replace itself, and apparently it's starting to close back up again, and the whole is around the size of texas right now i believe. But once again, it takes decades for these changes to begin to occur. But alot of people forget that this year, we have an El Nino weather pattern, which does give many places are warmer winter.. We've had them in the past, don't worry people it's not the end of the world. -
I guess if you want to spend the time, and just flex it over and over again, it'll eventually soften. But you'll have to be flexxing for an equivilant of about 50+ days on the snow. Just a guess though, who knows if it'll actually work. and it would take alot of time. What else is more important than snowboarding though?

Another thing, the warmer our earth gets, the more of a chance a large piece of the greenland ice sheet is going to fall into the ocean, Once this happens the entire flow of the jet stream will be haulted, thus throwing euroland into a deepfreeze. I would go into more details about why, but i have to go to work. -

I love how we have one bad snow year and everyone all of a sudden thinks the world is coming to an end. El Nino has a big global weather effect this year, giving us wamer weather temperatures. Places where el nino benefits.. Look at them CO, PNW, they are getting torrental amounts of snowfall... Also alot of the damage is already done as far as global weather temperatures go. They are not going improve over night if everyone starts using a difference source of energy that release less carbon dioxide. The stuff will not disapear from out atmosphere over night, if there is any change, it will take decades, if not centuries. Another thing, if people have not realized yet, the Earth does have cycles. I don't remember the exact names of them, but right now, we are in a warmer earth cycle, and we are alot closer to the sun during the winter, roughly about 5 million miles closer during our winter, than in the summer, so the earth on average will have warmer temperatures in the winter compared to our past. These guys writing these articles, are they Geologists, or climatoglists? or just some morons trying to write up a good story. Because any good Geologists or climatoglist could tell you what i just said, but with alot more details.. Yes there is global warming, but it's not all directly related to carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. -
Pic from blackcomb today pic taken by 2-czech over at TGR

If not, once tuesday rolls around they'll be blowing everynight

yes i have heard of Revelstoke, and it is probably one of the sickest places i've ever seen pictures off... I wanna do a baker trip so bad. But only being 18, and not aloud to rent a car is preventing that until another time.

Ill be there in the morning, Say 7:30 to 10:30-11 ish. Name is Dan. White camo jacket, black helmet, black pants. Name is dan.
-
I've been riding 15/-15 for years now.
-
By set up what do you mean? Angles and so forth? Angles are all personal preference. For riding switch, it's easier to ride with a Duck stance. Ie. 15/-15. Other than that, it's all preference, angles, stance width..
-
Are you the kid who wheres the huge jacket at the mainstreet chair? And ill be there with my gf at 7:30. White camo jacket, black pants, black helmet, white goggles, don't hesitate to say something. Name is Dan.

Sigh... I went from B bindings, to Ride SPi this year.. So much better. Except mine are modded to have burton straps, cap, and superstrap because thats one thing burton can still do right, is make awsome straps.

9:30... I see your in the Philly area, as am i. I leave around 6, and get there around 7:20. and im gone by 11 to work 1-9. It's not that hard. Also by 9:30 it starts getting crowded, and by 11 it's packed for the amount of terrain they have.
-
Ill see you tomorrow at 7:30 doug.
-
People act like it's never been warm like this before. WE have had warm winters in the past.. They got spoiled last season at the end of october, now they think the world is coming to an end...
-
But the snow is, as it melts alot faster with fog, then it does with rain
-
Just got home from Blue. I got there around 10:15. The mountain was covered in a thick blanket of fog, which is terrible, and up top was really windy, and about 50 ft visability. I rode for about 2 hours, as i was starving, and have work at 3 Be back at 7:30 tomorrow.
-
I was talking to a guy that works in a shop, he said the weapon was garbage. But what do i know, i don't ride those boards. Maybe an Un Inc, or an Agent. Artifacts are Noodles, and won't work for anything but park.
-
You sound like someone who only skis out west.. The snow sucks, not enough trails are open, to much ice... Blah blah.. Get over it and go ski.
-
If you needed a board i'd be more then willing to give you one thats laying around, but since your a skier that won't work Best of luck finding some new sticks. oh and what happened to the dumonts? you sell them?
-
Yes i take the NE Extension. It takes me about 1 hour for bear. 1 hour and 10 minutes to blue... 10 minutes more = Alot better riding. DSB where at in northeast?
