When are you up there, you said yourself, on fridays, and weekends when I'm not at races. Thats the weekend to me. I'm certainly not saying your as igorant as the NY weekend crowd, but your aren't part of the daily crowd.
-
Hehe, I guess we for once can be happy we're here in the east where the fresh powder is

That would be nice, and not really unattainable. They have been blowing alot. They need to get cliffhangor rhodo, the hump, and the asp. Those are the only real trails left to be opened. There may be one or two others, but I think they are just connectors. I know the front blacks have decent snow, definately will have enough by the weekend, and rhodo looks to be almost ready as well. Haven't got a good look at cliffhanger recently, but I know they have been blowing on it.

Well the home they own there is probobly a big reason to stay at CB. Also, like it or not, they are the weekend crowd to some degree. They come up everyweekend, and are not there every weekday. So they are going to enjoy more of what CB does for the weekend crowd than I will.

So when is this thing supposed to hit? I'm not seeing any problems outside. None of my classes are canceled .

I'm not too sure about that Bill. Camelback doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to staying open late in the season and blowing at all times possible. They seem to cater to the weekend new york crowd which stops coming in the early spring. Plus they have to get the snow out of the way to work on their precious water slides. Anyways, they may resurface somethings, but I don't think they will be looking to add singificant base depth to any trails, unless they loose snow do to a warm spell then it gets cold again.

Awsome, sounds like if I dress warmer than today, I should be able to pound the slopes on fri, sat, and sunday. I should be able to pick up some serious vert this coming weekend.
-
Awsome, thanks for the breakdown on the flouro wax. Way more informative than anything on the websites, and I'm too poor/lazy to buy a book on waxing. Besides, who needs a book when there is this wealth of knowledge to ask directed questions at online?
-
No, I will not summerize. First off, it's not THAT long. It will take you at most 2 min to read. Second there is some good stuff in there, read it, learn something. Second, I refuse to make oversimplified posts, that really don't contribute to the thread if there is something substantial to say.

I have a scraper, just didn't spend alot of time with it. Just put the wax on scraped a few times and left, and as I recall Jeff, you said the brillo would destroy my base. Nevertheless, I have a scraper and am oredering the brush, so things are going to be a lot less ghetto in my base department.
-
They claim the different types of bristles clean out different width structures. So the brass will remove stuff from fine structures which will also no doubt pull stuff off the coarser regions. Although, a scraper will pull stuff off the coarsest of sturctures.

They don't seems to have any brushes... alleged brush page However, when I visited, it reminded me to ask. What is the deal with flouro wax. Is it better/worse than normal wax. Is it used in combination, or in certain conditions. Just curious about the stuff. EDIT: Actually they do have brushes, I just couldn't navigate the site Anyways, they seem to be about the same price, and I am ordering a bunch of wax from tognar, so I will save on shipping with only one order.

What was so bad about it. Please share.

I take it this was at camelbeach since it was the summer? I can't believe you guys support that, but its cool they gave a one day pass, in their contract at least for the winter it says they don't. Maybe it's how you ask though. Then again, I don't forget my pass, or lose it for that matter.
-
I can't claim that I came up with that name. Just some random guy that I rode with (don't remember his name) came up with it. I just felt the need to pass the name along, as it was a rather humerous pun.
-
Well I am ordering the brass/nylon brush from tongar. Actually ordering 2 one for my roomate one for myself. I'll post back when they arrive and I use them. Thanks for the help though.

How do they compare to CB's blacks or Blue mountain's blacks? In terms of length. I just want to know if I should ride hard the day before or not. If I go to montage, I will ride as hard as possible for as long as possible, which will probobly be all day. I just want to know if I will die halfway through the day if my legs aren't 100%.
-
How long are the blacks? Do they cover most of the 1000 feet of vert, all 1000 feet? I need to know how hard I'm going to work myself if I get up there this weekend.

Yeah, its a great mountain, I don't know why you wouldn't know why you would want to shaft them. Also like kmar said, they will know. Not sure how, but there are ways. I'm waiting for a moutain that starts using RFID. For those of you who don't know what RFID is its the same technology that is used for ez-pass on the highway, and speed pass at mobile stations. It has seen some other uses as well. The cool thing is, with a RFID tag you could have a scanner check for the ticket without ever needing a person to manually check. Another neat side affect feature would be a portable reader becomes a search tool. The RFID tags are rather cheap too make, and in a few years you will see them in super markets, with readers on the shopping carts, totally things as you put them in. It will be neat to see when the mountains start using this technology. It's one of the uses that acutally makes sense, and isn't so big brother like. Some of the other uses for RFID were kinda scary, like implanting them in children, so they don't get lost. And implanting in adults so medical records can be easily accessible, but the problem is, not just the medical industry, or not just the parents would be able to read the tags, any one with a reader could. Which means the government can track you, or stalkers, bill collectors whomever. Thats why I'm not getting ez pass, as convenient as it looks, I don't like people watching me. EDIT: Although I guess you could make the point that the mountain will watch your movements on the mountain, but as soon as I'm done at the mountain, I can trash a ticket. Even better if the watch my movements, maybe they will put more effort into the trails I'm riding, or alleviate the lift lines at the lifts I'm waiting longer at. It makes sense in the controlled enviroment of the mountain, not in life in general.

Yes, that doesn't cost any money. I think the idea is, if you have to pay 50 bucks you are less likely to say you lost your pass, and then give the spare to a friend. Same thing with the 25 at Blue. It costs them next to nothing to make a new one, its just to discourage duplicate passes floating around the mountain.
-
Tognar had the same, just didn't know if that would do the trick.
-
My bro and I heard montage had some really good blacks, so we weren't really looking to make many, if any park runs. However if this white lightning is really the cats meow as you make it out to be, and nothing else there really compares, I may wait it out to the end of the week like you suggested, and see if it opens.
-
Where are the judges positioned? Can they adaquetly see the whole run, or is there a serperate set of judges for each feature?
-
Well, in a perfect world yes. The problem is, the lift operators don't have to the authority to make that kind of decision. They no doubt were told to stop people with the limited season pass tickets, and until they were told otherwise, thats what they had to do. What is lousy is that camelback didn't know this was going on before hand, how many thousands of season passes did they sell? If they had known about this in advance I really think they would have let the people with whatever dates on the lift from the start. Oh well, CB has lost my business as far as season passes are concerned, and my brother's as well, so I guess I won't have to deal with non sense like this next anyways, thank goodness.

Is montage going to be worth the 1+ hour trip this coming weekend. Basically heres my situation, I have some cash but not a lot, so if its going to be nice (aka trail quality/variety is high) then I think its worth while. Otherwise I will just go to CB or blue, maybe even shawnee. I will be at montage for the pasr day, so its not like I won't miss out on a trip to montage this year. My bro will be there anyways, so it makes it more worth while to go, I just don't want to get shafted on a good day of riding.
