Ok, so I started doing my own waxing, and am looking to get a brush. Jeff will probobly make fun of me for my previous folly but nevermind that. I went on tognar and there appears to be several types of brushes ranging in bristle thickness and stiffness for different applications. What they didn't have was a general all purpose brush, or if they did it wasn't marked as such. Is there a once and done brush or do I really need 4 different ones. I'm not looking for a race quality waxing. I'm simply looking for something to keep my base in decent condition, and for better turns etc. I'm riding on universal wax so is there a universal brush. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I take it he had to show some id though . Yeah CB definately won't do that. They even have a clause in the contract saying you cannot come in if you forget yours. Plus their replacement pass is $50 I believe.

So his day ticket was on the jacket? Or was it a season pass. Not sure what the pass had to do with a jacket?

It wasn't a banner day for features in the park. The jumps I thought were decent, if you hit them were it hadn't been all skied off (aka the sides of the tranny). All the rails are to huge for me to try (for right now anyways). The box is usually setup half decent with a landing, not a ditch. It's a pretty nice park I think, definately go on another less traffic day and check it out.

Yeah, if you are using it while skiing then you should probobly look at a flash memory mp3 player. They can't hold nearly as much, but they are also a lot more durable than something with a hard drive. Plus they are a little more portable, and the battery life is longer.

Ok, so everyone has experessed the want for a resonably do-albe rail, like a straigt rail. Well they had one out today, on the bunny slope. I guess the blue mountain freestyle team (who really wasn't anything to write home about) setup and used for the day. It was only 2 feet (at most) high. Straight double barrel, about 10-15 feet long. Why does the freestyle team (who should be doing more impressive stuff than that) use this rail, and everyone else is stuck with a no skill box, and INSANE rails. They have a happy medium available, so why don't they put it out. Alright enough whinning. I love blue, but they would be that much more loveable if they setup some "in between" rails.

When it was real bad, a friend I met later in the day there (not my roomate) did it on skis a couple times, and rode away switch out of the ditch. So it's doable, it just stops being a beginner features. You have to really negotiate the rut, and watch your speed.

No one needs an MP3 player, but you can get them pretty cheap now. For $99 bucks apple just came out with a new mp3 player with flash memory. I has half a gig of memory (doesn't compare with the ipod, but...), it is the size of a stick of gum. No display, but if you're using it while skiing/riding it won't matter. I'm sure you can find some older non apple mp3 players on ebay for > $70.

I rode through the park, and yes the park lift was empty, though I didn't find the park worth riding. It was full of people sitting around. The jumps were crap, I wasn't in the mood to hike the box, and other stuff just wasn't right. Anyways, at least someone had fun, so don't let me hold you down.

Ok, I just called them up. Apparently the season passes were messed up. The blackout days are the sunday of mlk day (today) and the sunday of pres. weekend. So, if you went today I guess you got screwed, if not, you are set to go until pres weekend.
-
Well... actually I've seen three different dates. It makes me think they have split the blackout days among the passholders to aleviate traffic throughout the weekend. Mine is for tues, my roomates is for today, and the kid across the hall has his blackout tommorow. Although, maybe they did screw up and they are all on one day. I guess I should call before I go up tommorow
-
Yeah but even after it reopend it was still lousy. This weekend the park get so much traffic, its hard to blame the park crew for problems today. I would much rather look at how the park crew does on an average day not a high traffic day.

As a rule, electronic hardware can't be fixed. Its delicate stuff, once you break it its not like you can just put it back together. On the other hand, snowboards are a little sturdyier and their manufacturing process is a little different. It doesn't require dust free enviroments, robotics etc. With a snowboard you need a workshop some tools and a guy who knows what he's doing. Also, the electronics industry isn't really a community, its just another money hungry industry. Individual customer satisfaction isn't really important to sony, samsung, rio, and a dozen other companies. The ski/snowboard industry is part of the consumer community. They are people who are out on the mountains too. They care.

I thought tonight was really lousy. Everything seemed really slow. A little to crowded for my liking. The park has those stupid nets in front of the jumps, so you have to dodge nets and people now if you want to hit the jumps with speed. The last hit was chopped out, and the landing was really hard. The box was real nice, the fresh snow and cold temps made it slide real fast, and the transitions on and off were actually decent. Not what I would call a banner day though. The east side shut down at 8 when I got there, and the blacks were bumpy sheets of ice. The trails were alright on the sides like you said, but it was a little to crowded with people who used skied really slow in groups from side to side, so it was hard to even enjoy what stuff was available. I think if any one thing had been better I would have had alot of fun. But the firmness of the snow, the crowds, trail closure, slowness of the snow, crappy jumps just made my night suck. I left after 50 min. Then again, I wanted to save myself for tommorow at blue.

We weren't saying it was the groomers fault. Just saying that it could be groomed better, which its the park crew's job to do some grooming. Espeacially on park features. As far as I'm concerned anything between features is the groomers reponsibility to do, and push some snow to the right location for features. The freatures themselves should be shaped etc by the park crew, but maybe I'm wrong.

Ah, thanks for the definition. So it has to be a kinked rail/box of some sort. A battleship, flat down, flat down flat, etc?
-
What is a disaster? Excuse my ignorance.
-
Well, on the plus side of things your not off the snow for a couple of days. Will your board be back in time for the next competition?
-
Well thats good to hear it was in good shape today. I was planning on doing laps on nile since it hasn't been open for most of the week. Also going to check out the park and see what kind of repair they did to it with the resurfacing. Anyways, its seems the snow season has been given a kick start with only a few hours of snowmaking. I can't wait to see how much can be accomplished with the 5+ days of 24 hour snowmaking.
-
Ohh, glad to hear it. I always love a trip to blue, but since the conditions will be ideal, it will be that much nicer .
-
Yeah, the delamming should definately be covered in the warrenty. If the shop won't cover it, contact the manufacturer. Be honest, because this sort of things SHOULD NOT happen. The manufacturers are usually more than happy to fix stuff like that, because its their fault, and they don't want to lose a customer. I know you said you won't go back to them for another board, but others might. BTW Do you have a back up board? Also congrats on the solid run.

I believe it has stopped here as well, although its hard to tell, because the windows are very foggy. The stopping of the rain is definitely pimp though
-
Well, it's 10:00 am in east stroudsburg and its snowing. Its not quite sticking yet but I think in an hour or two it will start sticking (assuming it keeps falling). Hopefully the mountains will be able to start blowing soon (not sure the temps are low enough yet). Winter has restarted, and the upcoming cold weather should hopefully carry us through till spring
-
Should we be able to 360 before attempting to 270? I assume so, since most 360's will be off jumps with much better air time to allow more rotation, and therefore easier to get the concept of spinning down. Just wondering though.

True, next week hopefully will make up for this pitiful season.
