They already have a ton of stuff closed. I don't think they can support large groups of people with what they have open. Its gonna be NASTY, that is if they don't cancel. They do cancel though, my high school canceled a bunch when I did ski club. EDIT: CB made my high school cancel

So went up tonight. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face because the fog was so thick. In the base area you could see the snow just evaporating into the fog. It was really empty at CB but the fog was just so thick, it was hard to take advantage of the trails. On the plus side of things the snow was soft. More on the negative, tons of spots with thin cover, and the snow moved REALLY slow. CB has a lot of work to do resurfacing stuff. It will be interesting to see how they deal with the ski club crowd tommorow. My guess is they will cancel for most schools, so they can blow.

I'll take you up this weekend so quit you're whining.

It's not a matter of grooming, without mid day grooming, it doens't really matter. The uneveness you saw was due to skier traffic. It had nothing to do with with overnight grooming. The trails, would get eneven again after four or five runs anyways. Thats the way this type of snow acts.

Yeah, I don't know what you are talking about. I just got back from CB, and true they didn't have much open, but the snow was SOFT, really soft. It was a lot of fun. Rocket was covered in mogals, and despite being a snowboarder I spent the night on it and had a lot of fun. There was lots of ski patrol, but they were all cool and only two rangers, and I rode the lift with one and he was a pretty decent guy. I smoked him going down rocket and he didn't care at all.

I had all four pulled in one shot. It really wasn't a big deal for me. I'm a pain fiend though, so if you have a low pain tolerance, it might be a bigger deal. Also, I had no complications, which means less pain. However, I was up and about the same day, my mouth was swollen, but thats about it. I was at work the next morning at 8 am and put in a full 8 hours that day.

First off I would like to say blue has done a great job this year, I love the park, etc etc etc etc. However, why must you use the bully for everything? It takes a couple shovel fulls to build a small kicker onto a rail, so its not even a groomer thing its a park crew thing. It really doesn't take a lot of work, it would make things alot nicer. Its uses hardly any more snow than a regular transition to a box/rail, but its just positioned away from the rail a little. Nevertheless, park has been lots of fun, and looks to be even better when the new stuff gets in .

I was at CB at 7 till close and had a lot of fun. The snow was real soft, and I got soaked from the rain. There was tons of stuff to do on the sides of trails. The landings on the jumps were soft, the blacks weren't so freaking icey. It may be different on a board then on skis, but it was one of the best days I've had this season, minus the soaking wet , and poor visability from the rain.

Plus, I might add this is more than just an impressive boarding community, as you can see by the site name pa SKI and RIDE. It's more a impressive snow community. Nevertheless welcome!

????? I can get to CB in 10 min. What takes you so long?
-
If you are 5 min from CB its NOT 1 hour to blue. I've heard you can get there from the my school (East Stroudsburg) in 20 min. doing the speed limit if you go down 209, but who does the speed limit?
-
Four people so yes whole shot. Their are rollers, it depends on the timing for doubling or absorbing. There are kickers as well though, which you obviously have to get air off of. I don't know the exact coarse setup, but those are skier/boarder cross setup. From the races I've seen they are pretty slow races as far as races are concerned.

Nope, different place, but I'm not at my comp and don't remeber the location. Just search around. It's in there somewhere.

I'm sure it's in someones cache, but I have my cache deleted each time I close the browser. Maybe someone with some free time wants to search through their cache?

I had a friend who used to go down trails blowing a whistle. It was really funny, because everyone slowed down, and got out of the way. I don't know if he still does it, haven't ridden with him in 2 years.

Glad to hear you had a good day, and some fresh snow . Hopefully I can get out later tonight.

From the sounds of things, this was already in the works, but they may read our stuff. We at least know kmar read it and is involved with some level blue's production.
-
Sweet thanks for the info. It's cool because we just had a thread talking about getting intermediate jibs in the park. It would be nice to see some rails, but tech boxes are cool too.

Yeah there was a real nasty one last year on Julius Ceasar on a super icey choppy night. They took took a beginner coarse that was already to narrow and shuttled everyone through a 4 ft wide channel. It was HORRIBLE. It really made things so much more dangerous. It kinda sucked because I'm sure they wanted to break from protocol for safety reasons, but they had to fill out their report. When they reopend that part of the trail, there was blue paint on the trail, maybe some other markings (can't remember), but the blue paint was definately on the trail.
-
True, but there may be other reasons besides just being at "fault" for shutting down the park. If there is an injury they have to do like a report on it. Which means they look at the area and investigate conditions, people's stories blah blah blah. Basically this means a portion of the trail is unusable, so since its the park, and its small to start with, not neccessary for traffic reasons etc. they may have felt, that it would be better not to have people on the trail during investigation.
-
I think they are boxes. They should be pimp though, blue only has one box, and its too short. Thanks for the info kmar.

The park really would have made the otherwise wasted night worth while, since I would at least be able to hike some stuff, and work on some features. Instead I just took like 5 runs and called it a day.
-
Yeah, I saw an ambulance on the way there, and right when we arrived the medivac was coming in. Is the injury the reason they closed the park?
-
Yeah, they were rangers we saw, who couldn't stand and then later were trying to teach someone, not patrolers.

Blue has some real nice one to try. You WILL feel more comforatable coming in on your toe edge a little because when you jump, just like without your board, will use your toes a little to push off. If you come in on your heel side edge this will be difficult to jump, however if you jump using the tail of your board rather than just your legs/toes, you can jump coming off your heel side edge. As far as being hunched over, this is the same as crouching as I described, if you are crouched you are like a rubber band ready to snap, you have lots of energy stored. What this means is you have lots of energy to adjust whatever may go wrong in the air. More on this later. Ok some things I forgot to mention, when you get airborne, bring your legs up a little, by bending your knees. Remeber the rubber band, yeah here you are again, lots of energy ready to snap if needed. Also if you practice pulling your legs up it will be easier to throw the grabs in later. When you are about to land let your legs back down to find then ground, but then right away let your legs bend to absorb the shock. DO NOT land with your knees locked. Also land straight, and ride straight until you have gained your balance. You may feel like you are going to fast, but you HAVE to ride striaght until things get settled for 2 reasons. 1 you probobly wont have the stability to make an in control turn/stop and you will fall. 2 you will mess up the landing for everyone else. Ok, if I think of other stuff I will post it later.
