Hopefully I will be able to get up there tommorow first thing. I plan to until noon or so.

Ah, thank you for clarifying.

Really don't care that the liftie stopped me. They were just doing their job. I'm mad ad the CB administration for being morons and telling the lifites to stop people like me. Honestly most of the operators are pretty cool, they are real nice if you talk to them, and a couple of the chicks are pretty hot. Although today they were telling us to put our bar down everytime we got on

Maybe they through the case out, but my understanding is you can ALWAYS make a civil law suit. Criminal is different, but from what I have learned anyone can make a civil law suit against anyone for any reason. It's just a matter of whether a judge will hear the case, whether they will win etc. The point is, even the preliminary stuff like setting a trial date (or seeing if there will be a trail), still takes some time and energy, which equals money, for the mountain.

Yeah I was up there and had some fun. They def could have had the pipe open, and I don't know why they took out the box they had in yestyerday. Marc anthony looked like if it was groomed they could have opened it, probobly marjies as well. In another thread though they said that right now they are trying to conserve what snow they have for the rain next week.

Why are women penalized... maybe I'm not understanding the termanolgy.

There was sleet accumulating at CB when I left about an hour ago.

Tut had a lot of stuff today, it got alot of natural rollovers and there was a sweet drop off on the right side after the turn. It was'nt as nice as mid season, but I didn't mind riding it all day. Sure beats sitting at home on the forums wishing the season would get here .

It got pretty icey but the end of today. We shall see how it holds up. Park was really lame, the box they supposedly had yesterday wasn't there, and there was no transition to the 40, and it was beat up as ever, so it was useless. They had a decent hit, but the landing was way to far back to clear it. Just depressing.
-
That would explain why marjies wasn't open. Sucks, alot, probobly means that only tut, birches and meadows will be open tommorow.
-
I have to order another set, with my googles down you can't seem them at all because I have them on the sides of my helmet. Oh, well. Went today, was decent but marjies was'nt open, the lift guys who stopped me yesterday said hi, and wanted to let me know as soon as night skiing opened for real (5-10) that my pass would be valid on the weekends.

I don't even think its about money. I mean, I wasn't going to buy a ticket for the day, and they knew that. It wasn't busy enough that I was going to hold up "legit" ticket holders. I mean, there was NO line for the lift when I tried to get on. It's really more about CB being a machine rather than CB being about the sport. Thats why they aren't open on nights. Thats why they didn't try to blow a few weeks ago. Thats why they will close with snow on the ground. Thats why they won't do much for the park, or mogul runs etc. It's about seeing how little they can get by with and still run a buisness. It's not how good of a skiing/riding experience we can make. Maybe I'm wrong though, what do you think?

Yeah, that was def me. So angry. Oh, well, I'll be up there today from like 11:30 to 5. So, yeah, hopefully today will go a little smoother.

Just because you sign a waiver doens't mean that you can't sue. You cannot give up your rights by signing a piece of paper. It makes it harder for you to win in a law suit if they have the waiver you signed, but it still costs whatever mountain everytime they have to go to court. Additinally, and I maybe wrong on this part, but, it seems to me, you could win a case if there was something on the mountain of exceeding danger or risk. IE if there is a bomb under a trail that a mountain knows about it, and someone gets blown up by it, you better believe that they family of the blown up person will win the case. It certainly would not fall under "certain risks involved in the sport." So really, the mountains need to find the line of "certain risks" and stay behind it. And to be on the safe side of things, many mountains will stay WELL behind it. Espeacially on the east coast, with mediocre riders, less trail level before expert, and the lawsuit happy community that is so prevelant on the east coast. Although, this does not mean I'm not as mad about it as everyone else, just trying to help you understand the mountains pov. In my opinion gap to rails are easier, thy are more indimidating maybe, but I feel like I have a lot more control when I can launch and position myself over a rail, rather than slide on, and slide around on it. Just MHO.

Yeah... so I have the sun-fri pass, which is supposed to include nights. Nights at CB start at 4 so, I figured despinte the fact that it is only an hour, I would head up from 4-5 today. Turns out someone decided my pass is no good for sat nights until they open up the mountain for nights till 11. So basically, I drove up to CB and got real mad, then came back home. Really sucks. Oh well, gonna be there all day tommorow, so hopefully that will make me feel better.

There is a small possiblitiy I will be there tommorow, don't try to find me, I'll find you

Is BC your home mountain? I thought you rode at Blue?!?!?
-
Anyone hear anthing on the opening date of Bear Creek? I know they started blowing but I don't know if they plan to open this weekend with everyone else.
-
Thats kinda scary I assumed that type of thing could only happen when the cable was iced over. It's probably back to the old statistics though about your x% more likely to get in a injury filled/fatal accident on the way to/from the slopes than getting in a chairlift accident.
-
I always thought about that... espeacially with the detached lift setup... it seems like is a definate possibility.... although I'd never heard of an actual case. After some research... http://www.algor.com/news_pub/cust_app/skilift/skilift.asp http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/st...55E1702,00.html Note: the second article says 75 were stuck in their seats... prolly with the bar down
-
I generally dont get in accidents with other chairs... or anything else for that matter when riding the chairlifts... if I did, I might consider it.

Hiking's good for learning, but it gets old pretty fast. I'd much rather take a line than hike something, but it takes a lot longer to learn something if you're not hiking.

The bar is annoying, the little rests get in the way of my board, its never saved me, and I really don't think about it unless someone else brings it down. More importantly, I can't count the number of times someone has hit or almost hit me in the head with the bar because the didn't check to see my head wasnt in the way, or at least give me heads up it was coming down. My roomate has been hit three times as mean times cos he always dusts off his board when we get on the lift.
