Man, that means its not long till it makes its way everywhere. When I was in NY a lifty riding on the other way back down the mountain yelled at me, but I figured it was just cos we were on the bunny slope (we kinda got lost, I wasn't really riding the bunny for fun... well maybe a little )
-
Idk... hopefully the stupidty of some will not effect the rest of us... aka they will not force us to put the bar down.
-
Yeah... you suck. And by you suck, I mean I'm jealous.

Haha, I heard about that power outage. My friend was real pissed because during break hes going there. I guess his dad is on ski patrol there or something. Maybe the power outage fried their equipment.
-
Whats his deal, does he ever have school
-
Yeah you're not putting anything on the lifties, but I bet they got a pretty servere punishment and or fired. CB might have even seen a lawsuit.

Email I just recieved back from elk.

How is montage? My brother's youth group was looking at taking a trip there. I kind of remember ski saying they were overpriced and crowded, but I may be mistaken. They are from the lehigh valley, so montage would be at least 1 1/2 hours in a bus, maybe more.

I've never heard that, but I will have to give it a try. The preseason is great for testing stuff out because the riding is only mediocre anyways.

I have a couple of broken soldering irons that wont get hot enough to be used for soldering anymore. If you want those, I wouldn't mind parting with them. They do warm up however, they are probably worth a shot, and after all, they would be free!

Lazy mile is in???? Is this for real, or just a rumor, because if they have lazy mile open I may have to take a trip up on sat.

Actually, statitics point in the other direction. It's the person who rides less often that is more likely to get injured. I always try to get the kids I go with for the first time to where helmets, cos they say most serious injuries happen within the first 10 (close to that) times. I guess the whole thing behind it is, if your going more frequently, you have a. better skills, b. you know your limits much better, c. you can tell when you need to stop/take a break.
-
IDK... I still get that from a lot of riders... espeacially the rider who goes 5 or less times a year. I get it alot from people who don't ride at all as well.
-
I'd love to think that way... and if I died, I think I would be happy it was doing something I love, but if I got seriously injured it would be just that much more of a kick in the nuts that it was because of snowboarding, more so that it was something that could have been avoided with a simple piece of equipment. I honestly don't think they are that bad, they are REALLY warm, and even on the not so bad falls they keep the pain down. Plus... I have rail paint on mine... can't imagine that would have been good

I have my forward lean (the forced lean forward on the boot implemented via heel plate) set as far back as possible. I can get more than enough heel edge without it. Again if I ran a more alpine oriented setup I might have it set forward a little more for a forced tuck, but... I can't justify only riding trails when I have such limited vert.

Happened to me at CB only, they died before we even started shooting (stupid dinacell flea market batteries).

The numbers everyone are rattling off are the degrees off center their bindings are set at. If your feet are perfectly perpendicular to the board they are at 0 degrees. The front foot is almost always at a positive angle (I have seen a few people who ride at 0 for both). The rear foot is sometimes at a negative agle for better switch, and sometimes at a positive angles for carving. The distance is the distance between the bindings.

I hope no schools get closed so I have the place to myself

I assume (probably incorrectly) that, the above quote is from skimom? The question still remains however, do the benefits outweigh the risks for small children?
-
Yeah I can see the whole ice thing, but there just isnt enough vert for me to be content just carving. If I rode at blue all the time, things may be different, but since CB is my primary mountain, I need to do something else.

Sweet, I think I may have to skip work on monday and get first tracks in that
-
I think its the added weight thing, but I'm not sure. It doesnt even say they shouldn't wear helmets, its just like an fyi "this may happen, don't say we didn't warn you" type deal.
-
Ok, so reading through a hunter trail map reading some saftey warnings and it says "We recommend the use of helmets, which are available for rental, because they may reduce the severtiy of head injuries, although they may increase the likelihood of neck injuries for small children." Anyone know anything about this. For those of you with smaller skiiers/riders, do the benifits outway the risk?
