We got snow in the mountains yesterday. Not sure how much, but still, first flakes.

R2 is the shit. I've gotten into it a couple of times with him, but that guy gets after it more than anyone else on the site. He's stubborn and closed minded, but he's got twice the drive of almost everyone on this site. Still it's funny to bust his balls regarding his bizarre ideas.

It still doesn't change the fact that they are tools and are paying for nothing. There are lots of great custom ski companies out there, that will hook you up with the graphics and the performance you want. No matter the level of skier you are, or the graphics you want. They will not charge you $19,000.

By most people out side of PA's standards full trail openings in PA count as WROD. They are crowded, icey and nearly everything is groomed. Not to mention you are confined to the trails.

Some rowdy skiing, but I thought they were pretty obnoxious.

Today was fun tomorrow is going to be better I think. The base is kind of bad I hit a lot of rocks and logs and things trying to drop cliffs, but if you don't want to get too silly, its just great powder riding.

Everyone should go. If you don't have the gear maybe go up for the day and stay nearby and enjoy the other joys of the white mountains. If you have a pack, a cold weather bag and a hiking stove you have the gear you need. It's not a serious endevor and you don't need to be superman to make it happen. 2-3 runs is a full day anyways, and if you get 1 run a day thats all you really need. If I went back I'd bring liquor in a plastic bottle. Stop making excuses and go, this is by far the gnarliest, most accessible terrain you will find east of the rockies.

Work at nearly any CO resort and you can ride all 4 aspen resorts and about a dozen others FREE! Oh, but working for resorts sucks, and it's more fun to earn your money and perks the hard way. Anyone can ride steamboat for free right now as well.

WP is reporting 11 inches in the past 3 days, I believe maybe 7 inches fell in the past 3 days with wind loaded areas. It's still snowing and tomorrow might be the first proper powder day I've had in well over a month.

There will be more. Looks a lot better than what we had in WP yesterday though.

Just thought this classic thread could use a bump.

WP has more snowboarders I think. Definitely more knuckle draggers in the park.

Quick update on my season. It's been 40+ degrees and bluebird for weeks on end with small dumps then right back to the warm weather. The snow doesn't keep at all when it's this warm, so there hasn't been nearly as much hucking as I would like. Still I've been having fun getting better in the park, and really making the soft days worth while. Here's a little bit of what I've been getting into. We got snow on tuesday and I tweaked a knee on the second run. The past two days I spent my time in the backcountry on Berthoud pass to avoid hardpack landings. This is the crew I've been rolling with: Lindsy Tania Yours truely looking like a creeper. Thur We spent about an hour between 2 snowpits establishing we had a safe snowpack before getting on our goal. Tania was elected to be the rucschblock guinea pig. The top 8 inches was the only thing moving and it was just sloughing. Lindsy and I were pleased with the snowpit results, Tania was less thrilled after taking the fall. With the snow soft and stable the decision was made to drop chimney chute. Lindsy pushes out a turn. Tania made do with the snow that Lindsy left behind. I followed the girls down and despite the somewhat tracked chute I had a lot of fun. Fri I found a quicker route up the same pitch after talking with a friend. We turned a 2 hour hike into a 40 minute hike. We opted to stay in the trees where the sun had done a little less damage. I hit a little pillow line which wasn't recorded wonderfully, but I promise it's me riding out. Lindsy found the snow to be slightly heavier than what we rode yesterday in the chimney chute, but still plentiful. Tania pushing her Miss Bakers to the limit. Bonus Pillow Line attempt I started trying out some pillow lines again. I'm not sure I'm super confident on them at this point. This was my second unsuccessful go at a line that doesn't look half as big as it is. I stomped it last year, so it's a bit frustrating.

My legs are getting sore remembering how long those runs are. I always wanted to spend a season there so I could lap the gondola open to close without collapsing at the end of the day.

Nice work. Snow looks a pinch on the heavy side. Did you guys explore all aspects?
