Those rental companies don't like foreign cars. I don't think they can get fleet rates like they can with domestic. If I have the night off, I'll drive you up there which will save the shuttle cost. I don't know what my situation will be, but if I can, I'll meet you at steamboat. That place is just plain fun, no matter what you are riding.

You spend tons of money on brand name base layers and buy $20 wally world outerwear? R2 do yourself a favor and find some quality outwear, and quit buying base layers for the name on the tag. If it's fleece, wool, or poly pro it will work weather the name says patagonia or shatagonia. Quality shells make such a big difference. No wonder you need to look like an astronaut.

Don't have a ton of time to read the whole thread but here is the deal. You should do copper on the first ski day. Then either stay near copper if the roads are bad, or drive to winter park and stay here. Do the WP thing, then again, depending on roads, stay in WP or go to steamboat and spend the night there. Unless you are coming from boulder, you have to go through winter park to get to Steamboat. Alternatively you could start with steamboat, and work your way closer to Denver. I haven't been to copper I don't know what it's like. Stoked your coming up out Philly Core!

Myself: 155lbs, 5'9, Size 9 boot 2008 Pantera LX 159 The board loves to go fast and has the stability to do so. It's so bombing groomers, open pow, steep chutes, or skipping through big turns in mogul fields. When you get it in open snow where you can let it go fast, it does what it's supposed to. Plenty of float, effortless turns, oh and it stomps drops without flinching. That being said, it's a directional board. It's next to worthless switch. Also, at slower speeds the pintail is worthless and the '59 is a bit cumbersome in the trees. For an all mountain board, it's not as good as I would have hoped. For a powder board on steeps, which is what I bought it for, it's perfect. For $305 shipped on ebay, it's hard to beat what this board offers. Assuming riding style matches the boards strengths. 2008 MFM Technine Bindings Large The bindings ride very well. They are a pinch heavy and the screws fall out (there are a ton of them). I think some screw tight will fix the problem. At around $100 from WM these were a no brainer.

My Nitro is built similarly and it's the best board I've ever ridden on groomers. Not that I spend a ton of time on them. Don't count it out as something to lay over on the groomed just because it was designed for pow.

Why settle for one good day when you can have two in a row? The second day you will be far more ready to ride powder than those that waited since you got some practice the day before.

R2 if you don't get the basic difference in ride feel between hard pack and powder than you are missing out. It's so much more than just ease of turns and less injuries. It's the difference between being massaged by the slope and and getting in a brawl with it. I'll ride anything, but there is no way powder takes a back seat to ice just because I can't negotiate it without injury.

If you are falling getting off a chair it is probably because they are blowing snow underneath you. Snow freezes to the base of your board and creates a grippy surface instead of the smooth slippery surface you normally ride on.

I'm so glad snowboard boots aren't nearly this complicated to be comfortable and functional.

I'm moving to Colorado tomorrow, so unfortunately I won't be able to take you on that first trip. It's running right now though. So if you can round up a crew, get on it. It's going to go for another day or so I'm guessing. Skip the lower section. No way. Thanks a ton for the great site. I've used it a ton to plan trips this summer/fall. The info you had gathered on the Brodhead was the best and most accurate I found on the web. Made for a fantastic day on the creek!
