Rode the board twice so far. It's fast and stiff, and already has a core shot. I think they skimped a little on base depth. That being said, it's super stable at speed and handled a variety of conditions easily. I still haven't put it in anything really steep or really deep yet though. That's why I bought it.

I've never had stellar conditions at whiteface. Their parks are much worse than PA but they do have bigger features. The mountain is huge and even if you ride everyday in PA you will probably give up due to exhaustion by noon if you start at anywhere within the first hour. The steeps are steep, the grooming isn't great, and there are huge wind exposure issues. Still, it's a huge mountain, and the top is pretty steep stuff. If you can get comfortable going fast on this mountain, you can ride some pretty insane stuff. For cheap lodging you can check out http://www.adkbyowner.com/ I was talking with some people on the gondola this weekend and they found a place for $70 a night studio apt. with full kitchen and a hot tub. Most of the rentals will be in the middle of no where, so if you want the town scene you have to stay in Lake Placid. I hear there is a brewery in town with a big selection, but I have a hard time believing that it's a clubbers town. I haven't really sampled the night life there. Whiteface is on the wrong side of the lake for the snow you want, but it is a gnarly mountain.

I can turn the board harder on my toe edge. I can manage terrain irregularities better on my heel. I dialed my high backs out of the equation a while back on DH's advice and liked it enough I never pushed them forward again. Forward lean helps for carving sure, but being able to stand directly over the board in any leg position is more important to me than doing well on groomers. Especially when I have functioning toe straps
-
Maybe I'm just weird, maybe I'm the only one who cares about turning hard, whatever. I already have way more problems with heel turns than toe turns. You lose the toe strap you lose (total guess) 50% of board angulation range. Also you kill your efficiency through the range of motion. I get the thong setup, I would ride it. I've ridden no to straps because of failure. I wouldn't head to the hill without a toe strap though, even with huge guiding walls on the binding. Just doesn't make sense.

Let's not get anyone fired or official policies enforced more stringently and avoid mentioning this ever again.
-
Yeah I hear that. Same problem with ankle straps. All they do is keep your heel from flopping up and down.
-
Well besides the fact that it's totally flat, yes Actually both pictures are pretty sick and I'd love to be there. I just don't see how it's physically possible for the first picture to happen.

I guess you missed the earlier post where Jeff was talking about the jumps as well.
-
So sell it for $250. You got it for free.

HAHA no troll here. If the dude says they are hard to get into the bindings fail. I mean I guess they still work as bindings, but the new tech isn't working.
-
How the mighty have fallen.
-
Nick, the whole point of the binding was to make it easier to get into. Well, also to have something new and hip I suppose. Do a google search and take a look at what they look like.
-
ATTENTION JEFF. Someone has hacked your account.

Look at how massive those chunks of snow are. It's a miracle he's still attached to his skis and moving. I guess bulldozing is one way to get face shots.

For the record I'm behind his efforts in spirit. I think TT is doing one of the most positive things on this site for a while. Jeff and GSS do the site and it's members a real disservice by constantly demeaning him and his efforts. No one even thinks it's funny, it's 100% about ego.

Loads of people on the site live under a half hour from their mountain. It's relative to lots of members, just not you.

How to take the bus from Philly to JFBB
Glenn replied to Robert2's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Not sure how easy it is for you to access amtrak but they have pretty good prices headed into fraser. The schedules might be kind of screwy on the weekends because of the ski train though. The bus we take getting back from the 40 runs to-from fraser. -
