New Flash! Bg Boulder Park Opens Tonight!

Normally I wouldn't say this to a flatwater kayaker, but since you like to boat in the cold... I think you should try to learn to roll. Go to some roll clinics, or take lessons from Jim Thorpe River Adventures (I don't think they call them lessons, but they are). A skirt a dry top and a roll will keep you from getting in a bad situation where you are walking out of a lake in the COLD weather.

The front page of their website says LUXURY. It's about fit. I guess warmth counts as performance. Still, the shell is what counts. The rest is comfort and fitting that foot and shell.
-
If the shoe fits wear it. Liners are about fit, shells provide the performance. If the liner fits the shell and your foot, I can't see how it would be a problem.

TShannon, whats with the attitude? You think you can come on here kick that much dirt in established members (robert2) faces and we are going to take it sitting down? You better watch out there sir!

I've got a big road 1 way road trip planned.

You're game for banana rocker but not magne traction?

I've been to shawnee a handful of times and every time I've been there I had a lot of fun. The place is super laid back. It's seems like 9 out of 10 people there are in rear entry straight skis from 1970 but they don't put fences up everywhere. There are tons of natural features everywhere and some years the park doesn't suck. Snow is typical horrible, there isn't anything steep or technical, but if you go with some friends and make a party of it (aka what every ski outing should be) you can't avoid fun.

Food at hunter was some of the worst resort food I've had. If I recall it was even at the pricey end of resort food. I've only been there early and late season, so I've only been on a handful of trails all off of the main quad at the base area. Almost all the steep stuff was bumped. As far as crowds go, everywhere is a mess early in the season, so my experiences reflect that. The spring trips I've taken there were not as crowded, but I never had a trail to myself. Lot's of out of control skiers, but that goes without saying. I've been to Windham once and it was their opening day. There was 1 top to bottom trail, with some options on the first 1/4 of the way down. It was crappy snow, and the place was a zoo. Overall the crowd seemed significantly tamer, but I had a run in with a NJ race team member. I'd say the skill level of skiers was slightly better at Hunter with lots of people getting in over their heads. At windham the skill level wasn't their but it's a more conservative crowd. Parks at both mountains consisted of a small handful of haphazardly chucked in the snow with small hand made lips. This is going back 3 years or so now, and again only reflects the extreme beginning and end of the season. Personally, I prefer Belleayre, but it looks like they may be having some issues this year.

After further inspection of the board I found a cracked core at the damage point. I went ahead and got a new board and boot inserts. We'll see how things pan out in the long run.
-
We're holding you to this. If your source isn't reliable enough you will be run out of town.
-
Can one mountain really be better than another?
-
Thanks for the heads up on the top sheet issues. I ordered the board, but may pick up some epoxy to patch top sheet issues as they come along.

Any idea on the results? I think I know someone there.

Nitro... good, bad, average? I'm thinking about getting a year old Pantera LX. Ebay is littered with them. I'm thinking 159 minimum. They are $305 shipped. I'm looking for a light stiff board for hiking, trees, powder and cliffs. This board will replace my '54 Jussi, which was fun, but bogged down too much in the powder. For park I've got this 5+ y.o. palmer 151 (no clue what model). The thing feels pretty stiff and it's in great shape in spite of the age. It's got an extruded base, so I think the big kickers aren't realistic on this board. The Jussi is broken and not viable for big park jumps. I'm thinking I will pick up a used all mountain "freestyle" board in a 54-57 if/when I have money.

Now you know how the rest of us feel.

Your chode is 4 inches but mine is 4 1/4 inches. Does it really make a difference? Blue's diamonds are longer but if any steeper it's marginal. Of course if you think that 1/4 inch is the difference maker then... all hail Blue Mountain.

Are you sure you've been to Colorado?
-
Do this, or if you have been to one but not the other, pick the one you haven't been to.
-
... wtf? Way to dig up a buried thread with a weak recap.
-
Haven't been there in a year, but they usually left one or more the "front four" bump up for 2 weeks at a time. Go on a weekend night and everything will be so schwagged out you won't know it was groomed anyways. Again haven't been there in a while, but if you can ride the blacks at CB you can ride the blacks anywhere in PA.

You need to man up and get that broken tailbone.

$50 Gnu's on WM right now.
