That would be the sullivan on the west side.

You do know that lookers left is the east side right?

When was the last time you waited 2 hours for a chair?

I've never ridden vermont so I really have no idea. The evergreens that are tight, really just have branches towards the base with big treewells under them. So, between the danger factor, and having to push through branches, and generally turn more than I wanted, I didn't have the greatest time, but the snow was good. The aspens are pretty spacious, maybe 6 feet on average between trees, some sections it's 3 feet or less, some its 10 feet or more. The aspens are fun because you can see well ahead, and the sun shines through. Also, get up the gondola, and stay away from the base area as best you can. When you get there you will realize why. If you are riding on tues there is a chance I will be there. If you are interested in meeting for a few laps send me a PM. Getting there is dependent on some car issues I'm having right now, and talking some girls into coming there with me. Also... since you are staying there, don't pass up the hot springs.

1 fall on a powder day? Sounds like you need to get after it a little more. Also where are the pics?

Sweet. Steamboat is a blast. I've been trying to get back there, but I've been having trouble rounding up a posse to make the trip. I think the aspen riding is super fun there, but most of the evergreens were a bit tight for my liking. I like the tree riding better at WP but the hike only terrain above morning side is super good. Unfortunately it's also super short and requires a hike out as well. I pretty much stayed on the storm peak most of the day. There are some really obvious cliffs on lookers left of that lift. They are fun, but most of them have flat landings if you send them big. Post some pictures for sure when you get back.

I'm all for season pass holders clipping tickets. Pow days no one will be safe.

Looks good except some goober walked halfway down the pipe. Look closely you can see the foot print go right under where the picture take is standing...

I seem to remember finding info on his IP. Try using a different engine.

I can't make it to the open house but I have a question. Is there any way I can bypass the whole emergency first responder education, the dues, the on mountain training, and proceed directly to the red jacket with cross. I can grow my soul patch in to look like one of the guys. I'm sure managment wouldn't notice. I'm really just trying different tactics to put moves on ladies on chair rides, and I think the uniform (and soul patch) are what I'm lacking. TIA.

That could be, but I think I'm just having more fun with my riding "out here", oh and I'm learning alot.

Pipe looks like a nice size. Those verticle ridges in the "pipe from the top" picture look scary though. Thanks for the pics Ski!

It's not snow blowing behind you, it's that soft compression under your feet that makes you feel like your floating. Even an inch or two (if it's heavy enough, which in PA it is) is enough to make you feel lighter than you actually are. At least thats why I love powder. That and being able to jump off stuff that would otherwise break my legs, but you get the idea.

Heresy, blown then groomed snow is never better than even the moistest freshly fallen snow. Tracked out snow vs. fresh groomed maybe you have a point.
-
IMHO you are not an expert skier. I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time though. I was talking to my mom on the phone the other night and she was complaining about the exact same hump you wrecked on. A ranger gave her the heads up on a chair lift before she rode that trail though. Sounds like CB messed up with snowmaking and/or grooming and the center of a whale ended up brick hard.
-
I had a conversation with a fellow who hates CB but knows something about lifts. He claims that CB has some lifts that don't fair well in adverse conditions such as wind, ice etc when there is not a significant weight (skiers) on the lift. I'm not sure how this ties in with outrageously higher wind speeds at CB, but it certainly explained (to me) why CB shuts things down when crowds are low, and conditions are less than perfect for lift operation.

I think I have some friends who would poach this hill at night to run super modified downhill shovel races.

Uh, I haven't changed, I just don't have a badge next to my name anymore. And I don't have to feel lousy about about you getting into flame wars with ski anymore. But thanks, I guess.

The booze stash Margarittaville hides on the right hand side of the Asp keeps getting raided. Or thats roughly what I've gathered from the cryptic comments left thusfar in the thread.

Followed by a wicked -5518 vert of double diamond terrain.

You ski patrol are all fuddy dudies. Please put someone from the lift department on so we can talk about disengaging these pesky saftey mechanisms.

Edit: I had a bunch of stuff written about why I do what I do, but honestly I don't care. I used to, but I really shouldn't be a mod anymore. I really think MB's do the best with almost no moderation, especially if they have an established user base. I'm here to hang out with friends now, and share what I know about PA and leaving it. I don't care if there are flame wars. They are entertaining to read, and join in, but it doesn't bother me like it used to that people don't get along. It doesn't bother me that people call out other peoples kids, it just makes me think less of them. It is what it is. Maybe things will change and someone else will moderate the way you want them to, but I think I'm done with it for now.

... do you believe everything Jeff tells you?

Trackbiker, I get your point, but you're really not going to change anything. You are the one picking on ski right now. Regardless, I've felt for a long time GSS is WAY more of a zealot for Blue Mountain. He goes on endlessly about vert and high speed lifts. I don't really care about either, just like you might not care about steep trails and good snow. There is no way I could get GSS to stop what he does, unless I banned him. Likewise you aren't going to stop ski. Further, you are boring, and your posts aren't as intelligent as you would like to think they are. Step up your game, or back off please
