I've never been to vail. We are almost as expensive, but not nearly as big. I'm told vail is where you go to be seen. WP is fun, and if you have someone to show you around, it's a good place to ride. If you don't anyone and there is snow within the past 4 days, winds haven't been super high, and the past 4 days were not a weekend, you will have a good time. If you like bumps it will be a good time. If you are looking for bottomless snow in huge open fields, this is not the resort for you. I'm not sure what resort is. Looks like Utah might have a few of those. I'd recommend WP to any of my friends and family because I could show them around. It took me a couple weeks to figure out where I wanted to be based on the conditions.

Yeah it's a good crew for sure. Sam is my boss and Dave, Lindsy and I ride together nearly everyday. Then depending on their work schedules, there is a handful of others that I ride with regularly, but don't have pics of. I think if you are trying to move to a ski town working for the resort definitely helps for meeting people. I don't think I would know half as many riders otherwise.

Yes very well I thank you. This is so money. Even with the pole flailing behind.
-
Nothing, I just can't see pictures hosted at facebook because of the corporate firewall I'm behind. If you don't want to take the time to put them elsewhere I understand.
-
Any one want to do me a favor. I can't see any of these.... Pretty Please

How fun are aspens to rip through? Looks good in Utah. Thanks for the stoke!
-
Yes she is. Girl can rip, and will send any cliff you tell her has a good landing. The pics on the disposable show her sending a 35+ footer. No hesitation either. I ride with her nearly every day. Chicks who rip are awesome.

I had the greatest powder day of my life yesterday at steamboat. I've ridden blower a few times at WP but never even close to this deep. Untouched areas were knee to waist deep. Tracked areas were ankle to knee deep. We didn't find that much in terms of super tech terrain, a few turns down some hikeable stuff, and a weird cliff band. For the most part it's a mellow pitched mountain with super good snow, and aspen trees, which are the bomb. Left to right: Dave, Myself, Lindsy Just around the corner from the above picture we noticed the clouds below. Random Lift shots. Some people getting the freshies below. Small hucks before my camera died. Lindsy and dave hit a really big one, but the pics are on a disposable. Maybe I'll post when they get developed.

Well it's time for another update. All play and no work makes Glenn a poor boy so I was out shoveling the other morning. Here is the view from where I do snow removal. It's called the Vasquez Cirquele or something. Well wouldn't you know it being out the wilderness and all you do see wildlife from time to time. This particular morning I see the endangered and rarely seen North American Panda. Here is the Panda in it's native habitat. It just so happened I was with a couple of my friends when this panda was sighted. They got pretty scared and took off with the panda in fast persuit. Luckily for them they had their skis and snowboards on. Lindsy Dave Sam Random skier who decided pandas can't fly I wasn't scurred though

It would be dealt with from multiple angles. None of which would include message boards flame wars.
-
See the other thread. Enough of the public flaming, you have scores to settle do it elsewhere.

No one wants to read this garbage from either of you two. You are entitled to your opinions, and you can carry grudges all you want. Don't air them out here though.

Me too, but... getting here is a pain, and that MRG thread made the place seem kind of cool, minus the fuddy duddys who won't let snowboarders in. I've also seen some pretty killer TR's on TGR for Stowe and a few other VT areas. If you sleep in your car (clearly not for everyone) and packed food there is no way a trip out west and one in VT compare. Also, I know people in VT who likely have a place I can crash rather than sleep in a car. I get you can do out west for cheap, but I don't think you have really explored how cheap VT can be. Then again, I've never really used airplanes for transportation and I'm probably hesitant to do so when I find the car so practical.
-
Yeah Alaska for sure, but not lift served. Although I suppose backcountry could be considered a draw to come westward.
-
Yeah, still wondering who has 5000' above treeline in north america.
-
Who has 6000' above treeline in North America?

WHAT??? They can't be more than 5 degrees apart on average, even that would be a bit hard to believe. I think you can literally see the top of boulder from blue mountain. There is no way the temperatures make that much of a difference. Wind may be a huge factor regarding the quality of snow at blue since it is so exposed on multiple slopes, but temperature? I'm not buying it.
-
In general CB passholders aren't the type to come out on lousy days anyways, the ones who are tend to be very local and wouldn't change mountains unless things got REALLY bad.
-
Really? I think blue's grooming sucks, and the trails get super beat. At the same time, I think thats what makes it a good freeriding mountain. Ripping down perfect cord is nice, and makes you feel like a good rider, but when you can do the same thing over bumpy, incosistent and often icey conditions, you ARE a good rider. I think the stuff on east side of JF will do the same thing for your riding, BUT you don't pick up as much speed, and you aren't sustaining the level of intense riding nearly as long. Camelback really has nothing besides bumps and a super sketchy (when icey) one turn hump to really make you work at getting better.

Multiple people mentioned how using laurel glade would have been the appropriate approach, though the phrase "start small" was not explicitly used.
-
What about your first run where you are checking the features and want to ride next to the lip to check the size of the lip, distance to knuckle and steepness of the landing. Or, what about when you are shadowing someone off the jump to dial in the speed. Fences blocking the landing are lame. Also, Blue doesn't have a winch cat and can't make super steep landings. Even here in WP with our winch cat made landings, things are pretty high impact on a 30 degree slope.

I snake the line in the small jump park everyday on my way back from snow removal. So does every other actual park rider. The families, huge lesson groups and other random gapers just stand around at the top waiting for courage. When the crowds get bad all we just call out for a train and usually 20+ people will get in on it through the jump line. The bigger parks don't have nearly as many people and way more space, so it's not like people seamingly come out of nowhere like in the east. Still, park etiquette is a loose set of rules which should only be obeyed when it's convenient and you don't need to wait 20 minutes for a feature. To quote my friend Joe: "I'll tell you about park etiquette. Snake the line, spray the gapers and gap the hotties." I'm only half joking.

I've only been to fast food joints and a mexican joint called Mirasol. Mirasol is good, they pretty much just have tacos, but it's good food for sure. Margaritas are supposed to be real good there, I haven't had any though. Hernando's is basically the spot everyone goes to. It's an italian place with good pizza, but I eat pizza nearly everyday at work, so I don't really go out to eat it. The pub is the place to go for drinks, crooked creek to see stabbings, and buckets to pay alot of money and party with the rich Peruvians. If you are asking about stashes... well I'll show you some if you want to meet up, otherwise, forget it. If you are asking about other mountains in the area, A-Basin, Loveland and Steamboat are where most of my friends like going. Vail is pretty close, but for the most part the people I've talked to don't like it. Other than that, remember to drink lots of water and take it easy your first day. Weather looks good this week so with a little luck, knee deep snow will be available for the savvy. EDIT: Misread when you were coming. I have no clue what things will be like at the end of the month. Hopefully things will be good though.

My boss just left for Alta last night. He was super stoked about all the new snow. I don't think he's ever been to Utah and he's a outragously good skier. I'm sure he will be going off for the camera.
