  1. Dennis, you always look drunk in the cold.
  2. Just so we have our facts straight... There are 2 different passes -Nights Only -Sun-Friday+Nights The Nights only passes are being honored during the day until night skiing/riding is available. However... The Sun-Friday+Nights passes will not be honored during the day on Saturday. Is this a correct or did I miss something?
  3. "Might" isn't a very conservative word you know. This is the trial period, if they don't get the monies needed here I'm guess they won't hold out at the end of the season. Likewise they won't be very aggressive next season. To be fair, this season it was obvious when the guns needed to be turned on, so it's hard to say. CB is opening 1 day after blue, and I think that has more to do with administrative issues than anything regarding snow. The marginal snow making starting times will be the test as will the stockpiling of snow to wade out the spring.
  4. Someone mentioned the children (maybe daughter???) of the old owner are taking over, and word is they are taking a more conservative approach. Which is why I stated earlier in the thread, that Blue will likely back off their early/late season openings, unless they are making serious money. This is all conjecture, and there may be no truth to it, but I wonder why the full price then? With so many of those 1/2 price coupons on Jackets around the area, I don't know why they wouldn't make it 1/2 price for the first week or two. I can't imagine those retail stores (think nestors, the loft) are kicking back any kind of incentive to the mountain. Again I could be wrong.
  5. I'll be there, not sure when. Maybe a little earlier than the other PASR folks so I can get my warm up laps without looking foolish.
  6. I don't think I've ever paid full price to ride at blue when there wasn't a high speed lift turning. Why would I want to go to a crowded mountain like blue and pay full price when they don't have the biggest selling point (high-speed lift and 1082 vert) available. I don't think it's an exact science but I believe most mountains hold off on full prices until they get around 50% terrain open OR the Christmas crowds start coming.
  7. Nor were the 50-50 3 out on the flatbar IMHO. That being said, there were so many repeat tricks, most of them back to back, and the filming was obnoxious. I too am wondering how they got 2 vids up there, with others doing better work.
  8. ... because it helps the locals feel better about themselves?
  9. You missed the hot, but incredibly dumb, traveling message team for bode. And the "When you think of feminine itch, you think of bode miller" advertiser comment.
  10. Wow full price and no quad/6-pack, that sucks - in a big way. This is the beginning of the end of Blue as a player in the early/late season openings. They are looking for cash, and marginal periods aren't going to cut it anymore. The fanboys won't be swayed though. Blue with it's *cough* impressive 1082 feet of vert will remain the greatest in the minds of those living in the lehigh valley regardless of what other areas are doing. Proximity and convenience play no factor in their opinions, these fanboys would travel far and wide to ride the best the pocs have to offer, fortunately for them, the best is right next door.
  11. I agree with method. I would add that for your purposes, every 14 days on the snow would be plenty. If you don't have a sharpening tool then maybe 2 times a season. My free ride board got the edge tuned up about 5 times this past season over 70 days, and 2 of those tunes were to get it right after I (stupidly) hit a couple rails with it. Until you get your carve sorted out well its not a huge deal though. My first board I got the edge tuned once over 3 seasons, and at the time I thought it rode just fine.
  12. If any crew tries to hit up all 4 resorts they will easily spend $5000. Even if no crew hits all 4, the combined profit from the various filming groups for tickets will likely make each resort several thousand. Agreed with a easy image makeover (they have the web a-buzz with this contest). Agreed this will do nothing to help get snowboards on the mountain. You do have to admit though, it would be a blast pissing off all the yuppies who ride these places to get away from those damn snowboarders.

    Lessons

I took a group lesson there a few years back as a college credit. In our class we were supposed to learn park stuff, but the rules CB laid down meant we weren't officially allowed to hit rails and maybe not even real jumps. So the instructors showed us how to spin using natural features and how to ride the walls of the pipe. A couple of times we went through the park anyways, but if any of us got hurt I think the instructors would have been fired... I have no clue if things have changed. Never the less, my instructor was very good. I can't remember his real name, but he went by "Yukon". I think lib knows his real name. You can definitely learn the spins you want from this guy, but I'm not sure he will help a whole lot with nailing huge jumps, because CB doesn't have any. Either way, if you get things dialed on small jumps it's just a matter of hitting bigger stuff progressively.
  14. It's not the same. They mess up the grading on the first pass, they make a second pass. You get one shot to get the pipe right. That being said, I have no clue how hard it is to drive a groomer with a pipe cutter in a straight line. It seems like it would be straight forward, but if you are banking the rest of your season on a good first cut, why not bring in someone if it's not outrageously expensive. Sno has Neptune setup their entire park at the beginning of the season, how is that any different?
  15. Hey, if you kind get the funds I'll take your g/f skiing
  16. Oh, well in that context I guess it makes more sense. 3 weeks of steady business certainly means a lot for a pocono ski area.Oh, well in that context I guess it makes more sense. 3 weeks of steady business certainly means a lot for a pocono ski area.
  17. Dude I don't mean to call you out, but I don't know how this could possibly be correct. MLK and Pres Weekends are ALWAYS 2x's as busy as x-mas at CB. I've ridden at Blue during those weekends and had lifts waits close to an hour (before 6-pack, riding the quad). I suppose the families dropping the extra money in the lodges thanks to the x-mas bonus helps somewhat, but with most areas not 100% open, and liftlines shorter than the 2 weekends I mentioned in feb where is all this money coming from? If your numbers are correct, and those 2 feb weekends are as big or bigger, that would mean that running ski areas the rest of the time is a wash for money. Comments?
  18. Sweet, be sure to post back here and let us know what you think of them!
  19. First time I've ever won anything in my life.
  20. Holy crap. Anyways, VT what the heck man. You rode the lift with adam and didn't even say whats up? To my knowledge he doesn't bite.
  21. Actually you just misspelled vitriol. I'm guessing you felt insecure when this was pointed out and felt the need to retaliate. Whatever. I think if you come on this site to bag on people who go out and get it, even if "it' isn't 100% killer conditions you're wasting your time and energy. We don't ski/ride because its glamorous, or because every day will be epic. We do find it fun, and you better believe on the epic days we will be better off for it.
  22. The guy was clearly drunk, you don't know what he's gonna do. Sure looked like he would have fought if your friend got confrontational and stood up.
