New trail looks sick. Steepness directly into a hard bend left. Thats my kind of trail. I think blue mountain is content to move slowly and methodically as they have a fairly successful business right now, and don't need to gamble with large expenses all at once to gain/maintain their customers. Sno on the other hand needs to grow it's customer base seriously, and they need to move quickly to start turning serious profits, or the will need to sell. Everyone already knows what blue is doing, but Sno needs to make a big statement.

Whats that song? I think it's danger mouse???

Not sure about the rest of your drive, but I'll agree the climb up the hill is a great time if there isn't anyone in front of you.

I think Mt Pocono has a higher elevation that CB's base. I doubt the summit elevation is greater.

Picked mine up today! As GSS's post states, the ticket office is open 10-4 on weekends. I don't think you will wait in line for over a half hour for your season pass if you wait, but that time you will have to wait (10, 15, 25 mintues?) could be used to ski/ride. I'd get mine now if I were you.

If we are playing that game... this Friday, weather permitting.

I like boxes with coping level with the top sheet. Granted I'm a snowboarder, but nose/trail pressing it, sometimes I get caught on the inside of the box by the coping if it is higher.

I'd go with rome personally, I've just heard more good things, but I have no personal experience with either, nor do I know their lines.

... am I too late for the smoking thread?

... did Jeff just call a car that isn't a BMW, let alone American sick nasty?

For CB you need a letter from the provost on the school letter head, or a copy of the bill. Same goes for whiteface. I'm REALLY surprised blue isn't more strict, but hey thats their call.
-
Right on, thanks. ... Already so much more chill than CB.

I'm thinking I'm going to pull the trigger on blue this year. Do I need a letter from the provost to get my student season pass or will my ID card suffice?

I get pissed when there is really big football news but I have to sit through baseball to get to it. Likewise I hate that I can't get any F1 news on TV unless I watch the race. All speed channel reports on is NASCAR. Yes I like car racing, but like many other car racing fans I am not a hick. Oh well. Skiing/boarding in general get little to no media attention which also bites the big one. Eventually internet streams will get much better, or digital cable will be able to meet the needs of all sorts of interests. In the meantime, I'll just have to look up stats/scores online if I want up to date info NOW.

It's me. I claimed I could hit jumps, and as only KnuckleD knows from our first run at JF, I cannot.

Oh, THAT spot. I think the ski school is right there, and they could potentially keep an eye on it. I've heard of way more people trying to sneak in further down on the mountain within eye sight of the lift loading.
-
I think a lot of people do, and a lot of people get caught.

I've never even heard of poutine before this thread. After looking it up, that stuff looks gross, and insanely unhealthy.

I wasn't saying you got mad. I was referring to rowsdower. My comment to you was simply I've seen both lax and strict policies regarding when tickets are no longer valid.

I'm not sure about every mountain. Most will kick you off if it's obvious, but lots of mountains have lax ticket checking policies. Blue doesn't even check at the lift, so in theory you could ride all day on a morning pass. In practice, most people head in to the lodge for food/bathroom/warmth at some point. BB they don't check very closely, and I bet you could get a number of laps in before anyone said anything. Shawnee is the same way. I don't know how you could be pissed that they would kick you off after the time you've paid for. It is simply an added bonus when you get the freebie lift rides.

450 would be generous I think. It would be AWESOME to have that headwall on private property. It's like 7 min north of stroudsburg, but I've only been there in the summer.

Schif.... I don't know you that well, but you seem to be the most normal valley person I've ever met. I hang out with tons of them at school, lots are my friends, but man those guys are f-ed up. One way or another it seems the valley messed with their lives. Some are real scumbags, but most are just really bizarre people who have seen, encoutered, or done some weird, messed up stuff because where they grew up. My mom was born in scranton and always talks about how the mafia used to have a huge presence in the city. Talking to my friends at school, it seems that to a large degree drugs still control alot of stuff that goes on in the city, both in a social and political sense. I'd never hold someones place of origin against them, but I can't count the number of times I learned that a friend, classmate, random douchebag, etc was from scranton and everything became clear.

I'm not sure if ski counts as a "valley people", but he's the furthest thing from a sketchy local. Never the less, I wouldn't mess with that dude. For some reason I don't think the gangters (yes with the -ers ending) and the scumbags don't frequent sno too much.

When I had that job in stroudsburg I work with a lady who was from the honesdale area. She used to always tell me to come to elk, that it was the best in PA, and could really challenge my skills. She also claimed she could torch me down any trail, anywhere.... with her straight skis, but thats neither here nor there. She also went on to say that montage was a lousy mountain, with super sketchy locals, repeatedly saying "Don't mess with valley people." Any ways, despite rocking some old gear, she did have a sort of yuppie attitude about both skiing and elk (life in general?), that from my experience permeated the mountain/experience. Sure it's rustic, and out in the middle of nowhere, but the pass prices, the outfitters nearby, and the clientele all seemed a little stuck up and over the top for me. I suppose it's similar to Alta going on about how they have the best conditions... not really because they do, but because there is a certain exclusive, and yuppish attitude is what the mountain represents. I'm really going to have to give this place another try under a more typical circumstance to get a better idea of what this mountain is all about.
