Um, you must not be looking. I found ice (not on purpose mind you) through 2 feet of snow on valentines day this past year. I have no clue what things are like normally, and I'm sure Elk does a great job. Saying there is no ice on the mountain, even after a thaw refreeze cycle is beyond believable though. I found ice in the usual spots on the backsides of bumps when I was there. I'm sure there are other spots where it turns up also, when 2 feet of snow is not covering it, and the weather isn't so friendly (ie thaw->refreeze). Also, I know the difference between hardpack and ice, so don't bother with that argument.

I once heard snoop dogg quit weed also.

I think 156 might be ideal for you then. When you are looking at the weight ratings for boards just get a board with 180 in the upper end ex. 150-180. For jibbing you want to be on the top, for jumps a little more towards the middle of that range. Depending on what you are doing.
-
How much do you weigh? I wouldn't go above 156 for a park board unless you are 200+. I got a 156 and in hindsight it was too big for the jibbing I wanted to do. Next park board for me will be <155, >151, depending on the model. I'm about 165 lbs, and have ridden a 168 freeride with no problem, so I'm not afraid of long boards. The shorter ones just seem to work out better in the park, and particularly on the rails.

I'm not a big fan of k2, and there are certainly better deals out there. What sizes are you looking at?

I have more circulation issues trying to get my board to rest on any foot rest or sit between foot rests, than just hanging there. I only get pissed when they don't give me the heads up on pulling the bar down though.

Yeah, maybe like a 1/2 acre. They are all mcmansions with next to no yard.

My pro-tec has the open vents as well. There was only one day this past season I really wanted them closed, and it was 4 degrees (who knows what with wind chill). I ended up wearing a pullover hood underneath, which was far from ideal but kept me warm. I think in the future I will just throw some duct tape over the vents if it's really that important to keep the wind out.

If the bindings were at the center of the board then I would agree. They aren't and added weight of any binding will increase swing weight. Although they aren't at the tip of the board, so the amount of difference added weight will make is certainly questionable. I don't know how significant the difference between a high and low swing weight for boards are.

Wow, great explanation. I'm not sure how many people will actually understand what you are talking about, but good stuff none the less.

I can only assume you are joking?

I think I'm getting a pass to CB and to Whiteface this year. The whiteface one costs $50 more but no blackout days, and I can ride saturdays. Also there is about 2500 more feet in vert. Oh, and real back country, and a gondola, and... well you get the point. Comparing season pass prices it seems like the poconos are WAY overpriced. They charge almost twice as much for a day pass at whiteface but season pass rates are nearly the same. There is a chance I get a Blue pass though, still not totally sure on the pocono choice.

... Seems like a no brainer to book for late Jan through anytime mid feb (considering you can). The conditions will be SO much better, and a much better chance of getting dumped on while you are out there.

Didn't you buy a vapor?

Belleayre, ski free on your birthday. If it's not during the season there is a "makeup" day assigned. See the website.

Week before Christmas is when I would cash them in. Less crowds than the Christmas week, and coverage should be almost as good, plus you will get a longer vacation.

Hi Demonx, I'm guessing you followed a link from Bear Creeks website here. This is PASkiAndRide.com. We cover not only Bear Creek but all PA mountains. Since you are a registered member here, I think you are qualified to get in on the deal listed in this thread. Feel free to login with the password above and do so with your 10 other friends as well. I followed a link from the pictures page... If poor resolution pics of some snow blading "Snow Zone Girls" doesn't get you excited about skiing in a warehouse, I don't know what will. On the bright side, 900 vert is pretty impressive.
-
Nah, I'm just as bored as you guys tonight. I just have nothing to say.
-
If you have something to say, feel free to share it without attacking other members, and swearing every other word. You will get a lot more respect that way, and I won't have to ban you.

Pinning this thread, for anyone interested.

That battleship looks fun!

Kinda strange. No forecasts yet for the date in question and the average low temperature for that day is 33 degrees.
