... i can't see this.
-
Eh not sure if this is gonna happen for me either.
-
It's a deal. I'll be pissed if I show up and you're super polite. What should I look for?
-
Yes, sir dennis will be arriving with me as well.
-
I'll be up there sat with Zaldon and an an extra free ticket for anyone who doesn't have one.
-
Is there an "over the head" smiley?
-
I plan on heading up. Not sure about sleeping arrangments yet, I might just make it a one day deal.

In this case... not quite. You have repeatedly shown up at CB then complained how awful it was, each time warning others not to be fooled by advertising gimicks (which I will agree with you on). However each time, you are somehow dupped into returning to CB. I understand that there are reasons beyond your choice, but... You make a critism about a problem, you support your critism and make a prediction that it won't get fixed (so far so good), then you return and assume it has been fixed, then make the same critism etc. rinse and repeat X 10. It gets just as played out as Doug telling us we don't have enough vert or Jeff noting how short the CB season is. It's just lame, and you weaken your GOOD POINTS by drowning it in a bunch of noise. Which is your choice, but when you get called out on it, that doesn't make the other guy a troll.

I'm with Pyro. I think for the most part the people who defend CB get busted on because they defend some really dumb moves. What snowsport lover would ever support closing half of a mountain on a regular basis? Sure there may be issues, but frankly as a consumer, it really shouldn't matter what is the reason. Sure we can go elsewhere, but this a place to share that sort of information (and good experiences as well). The defenders swarm to the criticism threads and act like the issues aren't their because their feelings get hurt after their home mountian gets slammed. The CB defenders for the most part really do seem like gapers, NYC 1 time a year skier/rider crowd. Which is one of the reason so many people get rubbed the wrong way after going to CB. That crowd is catered to, and for the core snow sports crowd, both the crowd and catering to it is AWFUL. In the end it makes them money, it's a business and CB walks away with a big smile on their face and their pockets stuffed. But then... There are CB haters who really are the same thing from a different angle. No matter what CB does, it will be awful or worse than this mountain or that. It will have the worst customer service, worst lifts, worst trails, short vert, lame park, bad conditions etc etc etc. Thats not the case either, and quite frankly the haters have done themselves a disservice by posting so much negative stuff. Any criticism is blown off as yet another hater (so the real issues don't get addressed, or highlighted in proper fashion). The haters come off like they have a chip in their shoulder and something to prove, and it's just as obnoxious as the gapers and other various CB defenders. Jeff, you're a good guy, and you know your stuff, but quite frankly, we don't care how long Blue's season is. It's documented all over this site, and you can fill your Blue threads with that garbage. If you really cared about who had the longest season you would be hyping BB non-stop.

Aww, but things were just getting fun

That hasn't been out at all this year. I don't even think it was on the snow last year... but I could be wrong.
-
I can only ride on sunday, and already promised Lib I would go with him to BB. If I can convince him otherwise I think I'll head to sno if BB still plans on staying open another week.
-
Any chance sno has 2 weekends left?
-
Everyone at the mountain on sunday acted like it was the last time CB would be open for the season. Employees moreso than guests. I think thats pretty telling.
-
I think JollyJake was punning.
-
Stevenson was closed today. CB closed midweek bites. Looks like I might not make it to 75 days afterall.

I like the variety of lips onto the jibs. I didn't hit any jumps when I was there so no comments on that. The pipe looked nice. I'd say a bigger array of jibs would be all that I asked for. Everything was setup well I just wish I could hit more features in a run.
-
Like I said, when it's really haggard no one takes a second run, even when it's open. I don't know why it happens that rocket gets so beat up, especially after fresh snow, but I will tell you that if it was closed it wasn't worth riding.
-
They don't close it when it's nice. I think it's ski patrols call, and they love ripping that trail. I'm going to say that trail got the most abuse from all the pow hounds.

I rode today from 1-2pm then had classes then back to the mountain from 8:30 till close. I mostly rode nile and cliffy in the afternoon and alternated laps in the park and down other random trails during the night session. During the afternoon the snow was perfect packed powder conditions. All the sides of the trails still had several inches tracked, but still not fully packed powder. In the evening things were pretty similar with a fresh coating of newly fallen snow, which was kind of slow. I had a run in with a ranger which I won't go into the details of. Needless to say the guy was really cool, and what could have ruined my night/week was simply a 2 minute bump in the road. I forget the guys name, but props to the him for not being a huge jerk. I had a blast riding both this afternoon and tonight. Being on the mountain feels more like late feb rather than late march. I sure hope CB stays open, even if it means lots of n00bs from NYC on the weekends. These conditions/coverage is just too good to shut down in a week or two. Oh, thought I would mention that there seems to be more and more snowmobiles flying around the trails lately. Some of them doing some real sketchy stuff, like racing around blind turns, and up over hills. I know there are certain physics issues like having enough power to get up the hill, but this goes well beyond that sort of thing. Looking where you're going while on a sled probably helps too. I have no clue who these guys are, it's not like you can stop and ask for their name, but I have seen both ski patrol and others in non-descript clothing being reckless on the sleds. This was an issue a in the past but it seemed to go away for a while. I don't think I saw any of them tonight, but it was on my mind just now.

Rockets bumps get pretty nasty. When they get really bad, no one rides them more than once. Who cares if they close the trail no one wants to ride? It's likely under the safety catagory, but regardless it's just not good.

Which is as paraphrase of what has been said here multiple times. Glad to see that the snow lovers are all on the same page.

Actually... I think KyleL is on the park crew. Things are better, but not great. I was kind of assuming this would be what the park was like at the beginning of the season (snow permiting) and getting better the whole way through, with more jibs throughout. Instead it took the better part of the season for them to shape things halfways decently (but still not great). I guess whats so frustrating is CB has the biggest profits, and you would think if they wanted to really revamp anything, they could throw a good amount of money at it and easily have the best in the poconos. CB supposedly revamps their park, and still ranks at the bottom of the list in terms of pocono parks. I've heard things don't happen overnight, but BB made it happen, BC made it happen a few years ago, when out of nowhere they had this great park which pushed all the mountains (except CB) to step it up. I think at this point totally ragging on CB for having a completely lousy park isn't resonable, but... It's still not anywhere near where the other mountains are at. I agree going to CB just for parks is a waste, but if you're their and ride park, you could take a few laps and land some tricks. I think the problem is most park rats would like to lap the park 90% of the time. CB's park just isn't fun enough (for me) to do that. I can spend all day in the park at BC, Shawnee, BB, Sno, Blue and even JF which doesn't have a good park reputation at all, since it's basically the "leftover" jibs from BB and 2 medium sized hits. I was at CB earlier today for an hour and the park was in about as good a shape as it has ever been so I'm going to take a few laps before they close the stevenson!
