Looks like marjies could open tomorrow if they groomed it out. They could easily blow on rocket tomorrow and get it opened by the weekend.

Swix, cold and warm (depending on temps). It's really Zaldon's stuff, and I only wax when I'm at my parent's house.
-
Definitely ride. If you remember to record them great, if not, no worries. They really aren't that great.
-
Things were pretty firm at JF this morning, I'd be pretty suprised if they were different at CB.
-
I should be able to scrape together the $46.

I've seen them blow on more trails, just not while it's this warm. With marginal cold temps, they need more air in the air/water mix for the guns. This may be the hold up.

Throw in the towel for a couple days?
Glenn replied to bigdaddyk's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Frost looked like it needed to close the black on the far east side of the mountain. Everything else could just be patched up while they are blowing on other trails. I was surprised but they were in really good condition, and the temps were low enough that the snow had some firmness, especially in the shade. -
I hiked mt minsi today at the deleware water gap. I've never seen it so crowded.... just depressing.

They had way better coverage than blue. Yesterday when I was there it looked like they easily could have been open today (though now edge to edge coverage like they have had) but probably closed to save what snow they have during the rain. We will see...

Yeah, but according to their snow phone they plan on reopening tomorrow, which would make me a happy a Season passholder

A waist high 6' long rainbow box, 2 flatboxes about 8" wide one is 8' the other 10'. The same hit they setup every year in the middle. "Picnic tables" which is really like a 15' long butter box with 2 1" stepdowns. Then a new flat down with a longer flat and shorter down than the one they had previously. It's setup where the hit at the bottom of laurel usually is. The lips are better than ever before, but still awful, and still ride on. Oh and Timeless.... Have we ever met? I don't recall ever riding with you. Anyways, I didn't think yesterday was anything to jump up and down about. I think wed was pretty good, not quite as slushy, and still soft enough to sink an edge without too much work.

I've yet to see jibs in the poconos that come anywhere near the quality of BB both in construction and setup. Others I'm sure will disagree.

Well I was going to step in and say a few words but I think I'm sitting the rest of this one out. Lets continue to keep things civil... I'm watching.

I don't like Blue's snow. (Zaldon says he wouldn't call it snow)
-
... my mom rocks those goggles. Not my pick for hottest gogs, but whatever floats your boat.

Because (at least in theory) it helps preserve what snow they have right now. Also, attendance isn't high. No one is buying day tickets (let alone night), it's just not a worth while venture, for the time being. ... at least in their eyes.

No... CB makes their money on weekenders. Blue I'm going to guess makes a much larger chunk of money on their season pass holders. It's seems regardless of what they do, CB will still make money, and they know it. So they offer the best possible situation for the people they are marketing to. Blue would do the same thing if the had the same crowd, IE they were located on RT 80 and the closest pocono resort to NYC. I bought my season pass there because it was cheaper (by alot) than any other mountain could offer, and it is 13 minutes from where I go to school. Having 2 high speed lifts also helps. I bought it without the expectations of early/late season benefits of mountains like Blue, and BB. I also bought it knowing the park wouldn't be as good and the vertical drop would not exceed 800 ft. Anyone who bought there season pass without this knowledge... well I feel sorry for them. To me it's more worthwhile to drive around to some different resorts now and at the end of the season, than drive an additional 20+ minutes to other mountains all season long.

Here's my take on things, I had this convo on the lift with Rob this pas weekend. When CB didn't open during the relative cold weather they lost the opportunity to get the base packed out. They spread the snow and opened when things were warm and the base never set. Things were slushy and they lost alot of snow. I really don't think the surface conditions are much different than what other areas are experiencing. However the secondary or base conditions were much softer earlier in the week. Today they were blowing at 2:30 p.m. or so. I'm not sure what that says about 'round the clock snowmaking the next few days, but I was suprised it was cold enough to make snow. They had had 2 unique, but resonably covered, ways to get down the mountain today. They NEED to get more terrain open, and although I'll be bummed about not riding wed or thur (at CB) it's probably for the best in the long run. The weather has been lousy and CB took a gamble on waiting and lost. I think CB passholders should be wise to early/late seasons being a gift at best from the CB managment, and although thats a pretty lousy spot to be in, it's something I knew ahead of time. So I think I will hit up BB and/or Blue this week and then head north to Whiteface on friday. Hopefully by the time I return, the weather will have made a turn for the better, and this closing business will be history. While I think matters should be taken to get the mountain in a better "working order" I would much rather they do it while I"m still riding. I rode with tons of passholders this week that were happy just to be able to ride. It's early in the season, and the weather has been warm. I'll take what I can get. Also... all things considered that conditions weren't crap. The first hardpack I came across was today, and I still wasn't having a hard time carving it with a detuned board. Please stop making assumptions about what the "passholders" would and wouldn't like to ski/ride on.
-
... and if nothing else it will build your "butter" muscles making it seem easier to flex the board

I've done it. Bring a photo ID. It's not good for any other promos they may have going on at the time. By promo I mean buy 1 get 1 or lift+lodging for reduced etc. It's a really cool mountain, and has some interesting trails. Hunter skis bigger, and Windham is a little more tame in the trail difficulty department. It takes me 3 hours from my door step so I do the trip in a day. So to me, it's well worth the trek for a free ticket. If I had to stay over night, I would venture further north... much further (Vermont/Whiteface or northward.

BB screwed up. I don't need to hear their side. Parklogic guys are irreplaceable. Parklogic could have easily put BB on the east coast and national map.... and PA mountain no less.

This is done.

If someone involved wants to start a new topic explaining whats going on thats fine. In the meantime this thread is closed.
