  1. I really don't know much about womens gear pricing or availability, but if I had to get a setup that I could actually ride on, the only way $200 would work is with used equipment. Even then, it's a weird call. Used boots aren't ever going to fit right, unless it was EXTREMELY lightly used. Check out the local stores supplies, the employees will best be able to find a match between rider and board. If that doesn't work out there are some deals online, but if you're asking for help, you may not have the knowledge base to know what to look for in the online market. Her skill level and riding style are important factors, and any shop employee worth their weigth will look into both of those items before talking about price. A beginner doesn't need the most expensive epuipment, and a park rat doesn't need the latest and greatest in space tech materials. I know thats not exactly what you were looking for, but I hope it helps a little.
  2. Apparently the guys at the loft took a group trip to blue and measured the jump before the stairset (which to me looked like the biggest one by far) as 35 ft to the knuckle and about 45 ft to the "sweet spot." I'm not even sure how you could accurately measure to the sweet spot, but the 35 ft number is the only measurment I've seen that even seems halfway resonable. Honestly this year we should make efforts to get photographic evidence of the distances because there is a ton of arguing over the size, and I think most of it is total BS. I mean come on 70ft... thats almost 1/4 football field. There is no way that jump was that big.
  3. The snowball picture was cool, but the updated daily picture is SO much better
  4. Maybe, sure would be nice.

    New boots

Well, this is an entertaining thread. Where to start... Gurp... FTL has nothing to do with boots. TP4... FTL has little or nothing to do with myspace and aim. The acronym is from online gaming. Along with woot, pwn and a handfull of other common internet slang terms. No need to make it stop. Atomic... Well, you know steve doesn't race right? You know that whats good for racers isn't good for everyone right? You know that they do "crazy" stuff like de-tune their edges right. If you answered yes to any of these question, then why wouldn't the boots be similar. A likely scenario goes like this... Park rats don't need as much support, and a little sloppier boot my help them land tricks, and prevent nasty stuff like shin bang. They don't rock stiff boots, why would they need the support that more than 2 straps provides? Of course, I'm a lowly snowboarder, and probobly shouldn't poke my nose into skier affairs. It seemed pretty obvious to me though. Lib... those boots look sick. I definately love my salomons, but they are ugly as hell. Nice pick up... and they look real comfy!
  6. ... well one thing is certain, they will be the worst park in the U.S. on a daily basis before 3 p.m. I think you are probobly right, PS. They have the opportunity to really do things right.But.... no one, not even the guys building the jibs know how well the execution will be. So, while I would love to see them do well, and I anticipate they will, I'm not making claims about how a great park is. More importantly I'm not writing off areas like Blue Mountain which has continually improved their park with little indication as to what is being done. ... also you talk like the 3p.m. deal is a god send. Conditions deteriorate between 12-6 with most of the damage in the 2-5 range. More importantly, the park is probobly the least used area of the mountain before high schools let out, even in ski areas close to colleges (which would attract the largest weekday park crowd). So they don't open the mountain until the most traffic, and largest conditions degredation happens; big deal. It may help some, but in my estimation it's not going to be a huge difference. I would love to be wrong... but I think that is a man hour decision, it will have little effect on the conditions.
  7. ... if doug had any credibility in the first place it would be a different story. Claiming any area will have the best park this early in the game takes away whatever credibility you may have had. Remember when you were trying to keep doug from embarassing himself by saying booter... it's kind of like that.

It's a high speed lift. The chairs come off the cable every time you come into the loading/unloading stations. Also every night all the chairs are taken off the lift, and every morning all the chairs are put back on. The chairs are not an issue.
  9. So... just wondering how one would sneak something like that onto a mountain....

??? Attitude... maybe a little, it's all in good fun (I think). Is he bugging you?

Uh, CB's pipe was in decent/good condition well over 75% of the time. It's definately not as big as blues or bears, but I'll take a rideable smaller pipe any day over whatever Blue had. I didn't hit up BC this past season but from what you are saying, CB's was also better than BC's.

BC easily has the worst free riding of any mountain I have ever been to. Without ever having actually been on the mountain, Alpine Mountain's headwalls (ok, so it's really the same headwall but it spans all the trails) look more interesting than BC's headwall.

    drop split gloves

Eh, maybe, but you you wear layers everywhere else, I can't imagine why it would be a different story with gloves. Pipe gloves are nice on warm days, but are pretty much useless in the bitter cold. Big mittens are the opposite, if you can work them together I would think it could be positive.

    drop split gloves

I've heard similar things about grenade gloves, I've never owned a pair myself though, so I'm not sure the level of abuse.

Sorry, I worded my orginal response in not the most helpful way. Managment really wants to make BC a great place to go to and for what they lack in actual terrain, they try to make up for in programs they offer and quality of service. Their park is great, and their staff is friendly. I can't speak to the quality of their racing program as I don't race or really deal with that mountain on a regular basis. Personally my mountain experience mostly revolves around two variables, terrain and crowds. There wasn't a crowd when I visited the mountain (although I'm not sure this is the norm), and outside of the park the terrain was pretty lame.
  16. Or thats where freestyle came from, and new riders are trying to put more emphasis on style. It's hard to quantify though, and it's easy to see if someone spun x number of times. Videos are the heart of the sport anyways... so as long as they stay stylish the sport wil continue to move in that direction.

Hah... all night I thought Phil was Philpug, imagine my confusion as he was asking about PA areas with any real interest. ... anyways. BC doesn't have a lot going on outside of the park. They have one short headwall that I think they let bump up, but... well it's short, not that steep and dumps you out into a trail merge, so really bombing out of it with any speed is borderline suicidal. Blue is the best freeriding in the immediate area. Blue and BC seem to have a friendly rivalry going as they both are in close proximity to allentown/bethlehem/eatson. More pocono kids hit up Blue, and mroe philly kids hit up BC.
  18. Is that bridge at Jim Thorpe?
  19. Without being there that looks like a 40' cbox. Also you're cut and paste isn't totally accurate because the c-box is further away from the camera than that jump. I'd guess thats a 30'+ jump.
  20. From the website "A swing set and a c box are some of the new additions that are being built for the Terrain Park." I'm wondering about the bank on that C-box as well.

    I hear rumors

I think there has been enough picking on rob.
  22. You can't give up that right, though it makes a civil suit harder to win(in theory anyways). Just because I sign a piece of paper that says I'm a slave doesn't make me one... at least not in this country. Certain things you can't sign away, and one of them is you're right to make a civil law suit.
  23. Uh, all the mountains in the pocs use molds, and CB definately has had the best pipe I've ridden for the past few years.

My Salomons have a lace that sort of clips at the ankle. It definately doesn't make lacing any faster, and it does take some getting used to but.... Seperating the lower and upper portions of the foot means a better lace tension for the different parts of the feet. It's not something I couldn't live without, but it does make for a better boot fit.
