What kind of helmets/goggles are going to be available? Also kind of random question, is there a difference between snowboard/ski helmets? From my observations there are style differences, but nothing functionally different.
-
Hmm... now that looks like a good time. Unfortunately season pass holders will have to revalidate there passes every 4 hours.
-
BTW, Heather, we aren't trying to beat you up. I understand you are simply the messenger sticking up for the company you work for. You probobly have no hand in this decision either and are trying to make the best out of a bad situation. We really do appreciate you spending the time to hear our concerns, and hopefully you will pass those concerns on to the appropriate personel.

... and yet your sales team has valued the "hassle" at $100 strange
-
... or JFBB is treating it that way to make some extra money. It obviously matters to the people on this board!

I just emailed their generic email address with a complaint... if you care about the season pass thinger, I suggest you do the same. infores@jfbb.com Also, I contacted their PASR rep about this thread.

Not that I am experienced with this sort of thing at all, so it may be commonplace. However, this was pretty cool...

I agree with the previous posts in regards to the season pass bit. What could they be thinking? It's not like there is any precident (at least in the area) for this, and it's not like it could possibly bring in any customers. Likely they will lose some. Perhaps it is an effort to reduce season pass sharing!?!? Any way you look at it... LAME.

... and when I tried to thank Jamie for adding to the thread, aka positive re-enforcement of that quoted guideline, you swooped in and tried to take credit for it. Basically, she brought it to a personal, REAL level. Multiple people noted that they actually knew the guy involved. Quoting random pieces of info from google searches is all well and good. I'm not saying don't do it Rob. What I am saying is, Jamie brought about a revelation you could not. IOW, get over yourself.

... Get over yourself.

Thanks for sharing Jamie. This is the kind of good stuff we want dug up! Very promising for the future of montage/sn

Cool, I didn't realize that... You're probobly right about the playground bit... I think we are all hoping you are!

Uh, they don't live in Bangor. 12 minutes to 22, 15 minutes to 78. 2 Minutes to 33. Also... in their development there is no city water/sewer. Those size lots are needed to support wells/septic. Keep in mind, those homes are fraction of the price of a housing in the city, plus they are bigger, plus lower crime, plus terror threat is... well significantly lower etc etc etc It's worth it to some people...

Yes, people commute from stroudsburg daily to NYC, it's over an hour drive with minimal traffic, which as I'm sure everyone is aware, is rare when heading to NYC. If there was a high speed train (ie around 40 minutes travel time) scranton would become a significant NYC suburb. Hmm, homes in my parents development are going for around 300K on 1.5+ acre lots. I almost all the price was in the homes themselves. Granted they live in the Lehigh Valley, I wouldn't expect the prices to be too dissimilar, although admittedly I don't know exactly what the price of the land is. Actually, in hind sight 70K per acre doesn't sound that outrageous.... So they split the land up and sell it for 28m, after spending 14m on mountain upgrades and whatever it costs to purchase the mountain. Is that profitable? If cutting a new trail causes uproars from tree huggers, what does clearing out 400 acres to sell off in small bundles do? Time will tell I suppose.

For those interested as I was... http://www.google.com/search?hs=Sw&hl=...amp;btnG=Search I'm not sure how to take this. On the one hand he was involved with some people doing some things that weren't so honest. On the other hand, the only charges brough against him were related to what would appear to be covering up for his friends. Those charges failed in court due to technicalities. So... he may or may not be the most honest guy, but, at the same time there are no indications that he directly pulls shady moves. At the same time, it is clear he has dealt with government types before and knows what it takes to make moves regarding the government. He seems to have put together a team of people ready to do postitive things for the ski area, not a team of people to tear the place down. That bit about 70K per acre is a bit hard to swallow... do you really think it's worth that much Rob? I suppose the land value will skyrocket if/when the proposed NY/Scranton ultra high-speed train arrives. Do you think this guy is camping on the land until the value shoots through the rough. Yikes... The proposed plans for the place sound awsome though, I hate to ruin the great vibe thats going on in regards to what looks to be happening in the near future. New snow making, park improvements, a TOP TO BOTTOM HIGH SPEED LIFT!!!! Things are looking up for montage/sn

So that leaves powder (... uh yeah right) and slush (I'm not that ballsy and I've overshot on slushy days), and I guess packed pow, but again, I've over shot on that.... Basically, every thing but powder or maybe fresh blown ungroomed (ie sticky) snow should easily send you well past the landing. It's not a big jump at all. Everyone I've seen come flying through that entrance has been looking for air off the pitch change at the beginning or speed for features further down in the park. Admittedly I don't ride Blue enough to give accurate descriptions of day to day operations, simply reporting on my experiences.
-
That must be entertaining to watch, as one can easily overshoot the first jump with the speed provided from a dead stop at the entrance to the jump. CB park passes will be free... only a training course is required
-
Yeah, ceasars is gonna get nasty...
-
Uh, maybe I mis-read, but I think the passes are only in the Rhodo park. Also not seeing what was edited in the map. Not sure why Oak Grove sucks... it's essentiall the same as the other two trails that are right next to it. I guess maybe you could contend the pitch isn't right for a pipe. I honestly wouldn't know, CB's is the best pipe I've ridden and I understand it's not anything to jump up and down about.
-
Well... it's about time. We will see if they implement as good as they plan. I'm REALLY encouraged to see it has some legit backing (ie burton sponsored). Hopefully they will have a big hand in the whole deal, so it's actually done right. Exciting stuff...

... and yet I can't connect to the AP INSIDE MY OWN HOUSE. Thats cool you have those options though. If nothing else it's a nice diagnostic test to see if the ISP went down or just your router/modem/etc
-
If you live in dense housing, with resonably young people around you (dorms come to mind) you can usually find MANY tototally unsecured wireless AP's. Of course it is illegal to connect to them if you are not authorized. Kind of like using that lawnmower that is just sitting the back of your neighboors yard, and not even refilling the gas! My school is installing campus wide wireless access for this coming year. Should be a good time, especially with the track record our IT department has...

Drop ramps will can/should have their own FAQ. Good idea... not good for this FAQ. Feel free to start up the Drop in FAQ!

If you drag your finger nails across a extruded bases it will leave marks. Not huge gouges, so it won't really harm it (too much), but there will be marks. Although... if you dig hard enough you can probobly leave marks in a sintered base as well. To answer the orginal question a bit more throuroughly... Sintered bases are faster, hold wax better, and are harder, so they take less damage. The only advantages to extruded bases are price, and ease of repair, as holes in extruded bases are a bit more difficult to repair. A good repair shop won't have a problem with sintered bases though, so this only applies if you do your own repair work. I've yet to put a significant gash in a sintered base (although I know it's possible) and I've run over PLENTY of rocks, sticks and other bad things for the board. My extruded base looks like swiss cheese, and has had at least a dozen P-TEX repairs several of which were holes to the core of the board. So to summarize, as has been stated by pretty much everyone here, purchase a board/ski with a sintered base.

Those big prices also mean less people get to try it out. When just attempting the sport costs well over $100 (rentals, tickets, food, possibly lodging) it's not something you are likely to try on a whim. Additionally, many don't find their first time out not to have been $100+ worth of entertainment. I know that any one trip I make to the mountain is not worth $100 to me, and I LOVE riding. I think mountains would do better to not charge for bunny hill access, only for rentals, and possibly even a reduced price for those with the freebie bunny ticket. It would lesson the financial burdon and could probobly "hook" quite a few more skiers/riders. Just a thought.
