I agree with the general concensus: Down is a good time, but is essentially a flat box.

I don't know if I've used gore-tex, but there definatly has been technology in the gloves I've used. I found that 90% of the time my cold hands were from getting wet from sweat rather than cold 'radiating' through the gloves. I didn't even realize until I started wearing my gloves WITHOUT the inside liners on COLDER days and they remained comfortable. I suppose I'm a quality prospect for pipe gloves except... 1. I hate having a "gap" in between my sleeve and glove, and pipe gloves seem to offer no wrist protection in this crucial area. I would rather have cold fingers than cold wrists 2. I think it's more important to be prepared for the coldest day of the year than for the warmest. While it's uncomfortable to ride in warm weather with over protective gear, it won't stop me from riding. I can always take it off. On the other hand, being too cold will bring me in, and I HATE sitting in a lodge at the mountain. I would rather just leave.

Snow in PA is too wet for this to be a resonable assumption. ... Maybe I'm the only one who gets sweaty hands? I can't wear the same gloves two days in a row without some from of blown air drying. My gloves are FAR worse than my boots. The exception is super cold days where the snow simply cannot get 'wet' and where my hands are far to cold to get even they slightest bit moist.

... you're hands have to be cold. Or you don't ride often, these are the only two conclusions I can come to.
-
... I have a funny feeling skiers can do the same thing, just snowboarders are more 'practiced' at getting up after falls with just our arms and edges.
-
No, I only try to touch the ground when getting up from strapping my bindings or kinda bs ground tricks, everything else is accidental. No wrist injuries are from the nature in which we fall. With two feel secured to the board we can't use one leg to help slow a fall, or even counter weight the fall for that matter. A few carving videos show hands sort of grazing the ground. I think it might be to show off how low they are getting, maybe it's incidental. No one really uses hand plants as a technique to improve turning technique... Although knuckle dragging can be fun when doing slashes and such. Yeah, it's been a while. I'll be around for a while.
-
Also, skier if you could include the amount of "snow contact" you glove receives that would be cool. Obviously as a snowboarder having to touch the ground at least once per run is pretty much a requirement.

What gloves do you use/have used. What do you like what don't you like. Gloves vs. Mittens Brands? Features? I'm in desperate need of a new pair, maybe if I can get some decent ones without spending an arm and a leg several pairs. I've used mittens in the past, as well as gloves. The mittens are nice when it's super cold, but if its anywhere above 15 degrees, my hands would get too clamy and then cold from the moisture.

In my experience stiffer boards are less manuevearable. While the length shouldn't be a huge issue, it's harder to "fudge" with a stiff board. A stiff board would NOT be my first choice in the trees. Edit: Also as Dharrisburg noted, there often is a difference in size that goes beyond a change in 2cm length. If there wasn't a difference they wouldn't make different sizes would they?

Yeah, I knew I was doing good compared to retail. I was just noting I think I overpaid the "ebay market" price. Now I gotta figure out what bindings I wanna throw on this bad boy...
-
So, with the positive comments of Dharrisburg and Librider, I picked up this guy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 It should be here sometime within the next week. I'm pumped! $227 Including shipping. P.S. I think I probobly overpaid a bit for this board, as there are some of the same model (in different sizes) going for even less than I payed. IMHO last year's gear is the way to go.
-
Most definately!

Is the coverage really that bad? Last time I was there was wed, but everything was edge to edge. I guess I'll see what it looks like tomorrow.

What was your best trick landed this year
Glenn replied to Sno Mountain Skier's topic in General Chat
Best air - FS/BS regular/switch 3's. Landed 2 5's by accident over rotating BS 3's. Best Jib - Disaster bs board on a flat-down. Best Style - SLOW rotating toe edge nose butters on birms. They aren't that hard, but they are so fun, and look good (IMHO) -
I saw ligety for the first time earlier this season racing slalom at chamonix. He instantly became my favorite skiier to watch. Seems like a pretty decent guy too...

Welcome back '999. Great pics!

They both use the yellow colored lights.

Great thought, I just looked up the satellite images, and the ski area visible from CB is indeed shawnee. Alpine faces the wrong direction and will not be visible.

Top of the stevenson is the best spot to see it, IMHO.

You paying for my ticket? ... I have no other friends. BTW papa, I wouldn't dream of taking a hoodie without paying for it.
-
Mine was cached... Apparently timless swapped his avatar as well. but, uh amazing looking house sib!
-
I've yet to have a dissapointing experience at Nestors.
-
$44 doesn't work for me. If someone feels generous and wants to cover my ticket I'll go. I can't drive 3 hours to spend money I don't have. Sorry. I'll save my money for late season trips to NY.

They closed Nile and Cliffy early 2 nights ago to begin snowmaking, not sure if that was the exception or the rule. I haven't really been watching their conditions page. Cover has been decent all over the mountain, so no complaining... yet.
