  1. Looking through some old posts and found this... Whats the deal with that? My snowboard has a sintered base. I find it hard to believe a 'freestyle' board has better race technology than race stock skis. Am I missing something?
  2. Just saw this thread. He did leave his email out in the open

    Wind & Lifts

Lack of interest? I don't doubt your facts about the wind tolerance of the lift but for instance... why would anyone at CB prefer to take a fixed grip over their quads? Perhaps less lift operators?

Temperature was beautiful. I was in a t-shirt and hoodie and quite comfortable. The trails were all pretty beat up at 7 or so but things were still soft, so it wasn't like it was super difficult working an edge in. Took two or three laps with Skidude who as always was absolutely ripping. The fog was kind of nasty, but at least it hid the eyesore of the crowds from site. It almost felt like I was out there alone... of course until I got to the base were hundreds of ski clubbers were milling about. Didn't wait in a lift line more than 2 min though. Used singles line until I met up with skidude and by that point the crowds were starting to thin. With the ski clubbers out of control and the fog things were a bit scary all night, but no incidents to report, so I suppose all was well...

Aww come on and get some runs in tonight with dude and I...

There was a pair of skis and poles with no owner in the middle of the bumps a few days ago. I think the guy ejected and slid well below his gear. I saw him walking towards the bottom on the next run without his gear.
  7. Uh... we make it to the mountain when we can. Some live closer and can put in a ton of days. Some put in huge hours on the weekends when they can make it. Papa has made it clear his focus is his kids for the time being. The real issue is Phil, who can obviously make it more often but chooses to hold out for trip up to Vermont.
  8. If only it wasn't a 30 min wait in the ticket line

Beautiful day. I rolled up with my windows down, probobly somewhere in the 60 degree range. There was still edge to edge coverage on every trail. The snow was soft and some of the skiers were having some trouble but this is hero snow for snowboarders. I met some friends from my college and took runs with them for a few hours. By the time they left the sun had gone down and things were starting to firm up a little. There was still lots of "texture" to the snow from being soft all day, so it went from good to amazing. I spent a couple hours alone taking laps on raceway under the lifts. The race team had a slalom course setup, so that was fun to watch on the slower raceway lift.
  10. No need to keep this open. You may contact the member via PM for further communications on the matter.
  11. They are both pretty small. I would estimate 400 for BB and 600 for JF but like I said estimation. If you like trail riding there isn't much at all for you at BB. JF has a few decent blacks on skiers far right. They also have some glades which open with good coverage. I see your current home mountain is CB. The blacks are at least as difficult as anything at CB. Biggest drawback is they have no high speed lifts. If you are into park riding, BB has a pretty nuts park setup every year. Far better than anything CB has to offer. I've only been to BB twice and JF once but during my visits the snow quality was top notch. Good luck with the crowds, hopefully that won't skew your opinion too much.
  12. Uh.... no thanks on speakers, tents, theatres and the like. Give me trees, snow and lifts and I'm a happy dude. The mountain is beautiful the way it is. Why complicate it?
  13. I guess their park is nutz this year, haven't seen it for myself yet. If it lives up to the hype that would be a reason... I'd take a pass to montage any day over blue though...

    The Big Race

Too bad I won't be there... I just wanted this race to happen real bad.

Nastar runs for a few hours, with $5 you get 2 runs. With $10 you get unlimited runs. Best run of the day counts as "competition" run. The results will be posted online, so just let us know what your name (or alias) will be.

How about ... Papa wins: Volkl apologizes, sets his Nastar team to pasr, and must accept all verbal abuse (within good taste, at moderators discretion) about being a lazy CB employee. Volkl wins: Papa must apologize, is prohibited from making any negative comments about ANY CB employee for the season, and must accept all verbal abuse (again within good taste) about being a lazy customer.
  17. Mike I think.... He's probobly the best snowboard instructor CB has.
  18. For one reason or another things aren't getting lumpy or mushy. I'm not sure if it's humidity, not being "that hot" or maybe even traffic, but CB hasn't seemed to have issues with the soft stuff turning to crud. Last wed montage was the same way, and I'm pretty sure it was above freezing that day. I guess enjoy it as much as you can, while we still have coverage.

Cliffy > Razors. If nothing else than cliffy is always beautiful first thing, and I've never had a good day on Razors reguarding conditions. There have been days that haven't been as bad, but never good. I actually like challange better than razors, but challange is too narrow. They are both (razors and challange) pretty long though, thats the only advantage.

We do need a better incentive besides bragging rights, especially if Rob is demanding a reserved spot by volkl. The stipulations do seem strange though. Either you want to settle this in the gates or not. What does this have to do with the PASR nastar team?

Montages blacks are steep but nothing VERY steep, and nothing sustained. All their doubles have significant pitch and it's sustained. Maybe skiers are getting worse....

I'll pay your entry fee, I wanna see this race go down. It's time to put up or shut up. If it's so boring and easy then show rob whats up... A backcountry race is just silly especially at CB.

I think hump should be a double personally. That trail is always so sketchy. Fallen n00bs everywhere. Decent pitch, lousy grooming and a hard right turn just at the bottom of the head wall. If you can't quite make it you get a face full of fence. I hate that trail. On a day with the worst possible icey conditions I will still run laps on Cliffy but you won't see me even thinking about the hump. Duration is the reason though. Even if you straight bombed it, you couldn't get going nearly as fast on the hump compared to cliffy. No doubt cliffy is overated, and is only a double black for CB's bragging rights, but there is SOME thought behind it.

    Spinning

Maybe that explains why my fs spins are garbage...
