Both of you can keep your comments poor parenting elsewhere. The discussion is about the value if of practicing with gates or simply running drills. Anything else will be deleted or the topic will be closed. Play nice!

... we just need to put him up against the dude

Except the comparison isn't 1 to 1. At it's core racing is turning, which can be done anywhere on the mountain. At it's core freestyling is arial acrobatics and jibbing. Air can be achieved on a limited amount on the mountain, and jibbing not at all. Steve goes to trampoline class yes... Sure it's not the same as going off jumps, but it's building skills which transfer to skiing.

... as someone who plays all sorts of music in all sorts of realms I can tell you that in fact generally speaking you don't play the whole thing through until the week of the recital or concert or what have you. It's frustrating for the performers (especially the inexperienced). They want to just play music, but if you can't get one part right what does playing the whole thing through do? I spend hours of practice time on a few bars of music, thats why I'm good, very good. When I put it all together it's that much more fun because I can nail everything without much effort at all. With musical maturity I can pick up easy music and play it flawless the first time all the way through because I've experienced similar things 1000's of times. It's just reguritation, musical vocabulary if you will. I think the analogy goes beyond music and skiing.

So run the formula in reverse. Maybe the course gets faster, or he finds better lines. THAT would PROVE how much a difference the gear makes if no matter what he does better on the "race" equipment. Take out all variables but the equipment to find out the difference the equipment makes. Or at least minimize the other variables.

Friday eh? I should be there if you want to meet up let me know what time you will be there.

Also... it is my experience that contsantly swapping lenses wears out the frames and they don't hold the lens in as well. If you are still hell bent on the idea though, most frames have swappable lenses. My A-Frames definatley have swappable lenses, as do the random pair of bolle goggles I have, and some super old smiths...

Clear lenses are pointless. If you have light enhancing tinted lenses they will be far better at night than clear lenses. During the day time why wouldn't you want the tint for the sun? Only thing I can think of is overcast days, but I still think you are better off with the light enhancing lenses.

Oh man, I was there earlier today... Have fun. I thought things were a bit slow and the snow was SUPER heavy. Very WET day. Good luck though.

Man Nitro, you really have that "burton sucks" mantra down...

... or you have your browser customized with right mouse-enablers that bypass those silly things. Spending time to remove the water mark is not worth it IMHO. Spending $20 for a 5x7 isn't worth it either. Just wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to have your own copy. ... for educational/research purposes only, etc etc.

Assuming she means kept in, particularly she was hurt and cannot ski. If they had released she would have faired better in the injury department. I could be wrong...

... and people working at other mountains don't work as hard? No one is forcing you to keep the job if it's such a hardship leave. The point is you should aim at providing guests with the best possible experience within reason. Whats reasonable is up for debate. Apparently Papa thinks that parking further away is more than resonable, and I'd have to agree with him. No reason to delete or lock the topic.

Mis-spoke, I meant Blue. Sorry for the confusion Papa.

Definitely, I wear a helmet always. Everyone once in a while I'm real glad I'm wearing it. Just last week at whiteface I randomly caught a heel edge on a mogul on a black and got the back of my head whipped into the snow. I got up a little shaken and embarrassed. Without a helmet I'm pretty sure my head would have been ringing.

Man, my only concern was how goofy I would look.

... I think mum's onto to something with the postcards. Beautiful pics. You better stop posting them though or the the whole state of PA will be moving out to your area

Uh, employees get their own lot at CB. It's closer than the guest spots, but out of the way. The customer doesn't get screwed over by the employees.

She has stuck to greens and mellow blues so far. I don't think the high speed chatter is an issue now. She wants to build confidence and improve basic techniques. I'm just trying to find gear to get her to the mountain. I'll see if I can find a deal on a set of balanze's and see what mom thinks.
-
Err... she's pretty inexperienced, and I'm not sure she would know what to look for in a demo. I was planning on nestors for boots anyways. I just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track. Thanks for the tip on the 150's.

The cabin we stayed at had a full kitchen, so the only time we really ate out was at the lodge at the mountain. Nothing special. There is supposed to be a couple good places to eat in Lake Placid, sorry I don't remember any of the names. There is a visitors center in lake placid as well with lots of information about Olympics related stuff to do. Some of my family went on a snowmobile tour for a day and had a blast. If your interested I can dig up the phone number. There is a movie theatre in town, if your really bored, but it's pretty small. Other than that it's pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. If your into hiking/climbing etc you will find plent of places to do that.

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Head-2006-Big-Easy...1QQcmdZViewItem My mom has been sking a handful of times. At whiteface the rental shop had her on 130's and she seemed to need a bigger ski. She wants to ski more so I started looking for skis. Any opinions on this one?
