They seem to have a reputation for breaking, look around the board, there has been a number of people talking about their broken doms.

It's not a wallride at all. It's a hip with a box across the top, the side of the hip is a wallride. It guess its supposed to be like a massive funbox or something?!?!? Can't remember where but it's in a video.

... first thing we need to do is get her out of those wet jeans

On just about any day you can smell NJ from shawnee Whiteface does have some amazing views though. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera on the only day we had a clear view from the summit.

I park down by the stevenson. It's closer to the slopes, and the employees have to punch in so even the lifties are less likely to park down that way. I assumed they had their own lot.

Yeah, slides were closed, as were all the glades except a tiny one just off a mellow green. There were a fair number of blacks still closed as well. They have a bunch of parks, but only 2 were open, and the super pipe was mostly dirt at this point. The rain really set them back I think, but at the same time, there was PLENTY that was indeed open. All the employees there were pretty laid back too. They have "safety officials" who I didn't see marking anyones ticket. There was plenty of riding of poaching, high speeds, and other stuff that would make alot of mountains around here sweat, and the safety officials didn't really seem to care at all.

Spent a week in a cabin 10 min from the base of whiteface. Lodging was great, but who really cares, it's all about the riding right? 2 days to get up there, stopped overnight 2 hours short of the mountain, for a more relaxing trip, and so we could hit the mountain first thing in the morning, while the non skiers worked on unpacking cars/chick-in to the cabin etc. The first two days were just under freezing but the snow was soft. Lift lines were non-existent. I think I think the most I waited for a lift was 20 seconds, including the gondola. Didn't really hit anything to intense since we (family vacation, we being all the alpiners in my family) had clear orders not to get hurt before christmas. 3rd day into the trip it was over cast, and we had spots of rain. Being the diehard I am, I was kinda disappointed in myself for not being out on the mountian riding anyways, but I just wanted to relax. 4th day, my brother hurt his knee/ankle on the first run. I think he will be out for a couple of weeks, but at first it looked like he broke his ankle. Talk about a bummer. Conditions were garbage from the rain, but that was to be expected. Way more crowds than the first 2 days, but still didn't wait more than 5 min for a chair. 5th day, minus the injury same thing as day 4. 6th day, temps were warm again, the mountain softened and my sister and I rode blacks all day. It got a little choppy by noon, but my legs were shot so it didn't matter. Definitely the best day, too bad Zaldon was hurt and couldn't enjoy it. Lift lines were tiny, the warmth scared people away... morons. Longest wait was in the 30 sec range again, we did laps on the gondola until we left. Over all the mountain was pretty good. Small lift lines, huge vertical, and some decent blacks. The mountain is so big the top is usually covered in clouds so, riding the summit doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you catch it during a few hours when its clear. Maybe I'm a freak, but top to bottom runs weren't fluid enough. I get the impression people just take laps on portions of the mountain, but why have 3,000+ feet if your not going to ride all of it? There wasn't any good cruisers, I think when I get back to CB I'm going to take a bunch of runs on nile because I couldn't do any laid back cruising. Having no experience with what vermont have to offers I can't make any meaningful comparisons with other more "prominent" mountains in the Northeast. What I can say is, I would love to be a whiteface local. It really seemed like a locals mountain. Small liftlines, some peculiarities, and out in the middle of nowhere. I'll post some pictures if I remember to when they get developed.

Check it out this weekend, I think you will change your mind. I'm not promising anything great, but a huge improvment in my eyes.

I throw mine on heating vents in my house, and the huge heating vent the length of my room in my dorm. Both work out alright, but as doug said, sucks to live with me I suppose one day when I have some spare money I'll pick up some boot dryers.

He's got a silver helmet, rides a snowboard and loves straight bombing trails.

The jumps blew, the speed you needed to maked the landings was unreasonable considering the amount of people milling about. They shortened the gaps, and changed the shapes of the lips and made the landings better. They also cleaned up the battleship/rainbow transitions, althought the flatbox setup still blows IMO.

Yes. I did. I'm too lazy to post daily reports. If I had a digi I wouldn't mind posting daily pics. I posted elsewhere about how the park was stepped up. I didn't ride anywhere else on the mountain today so I can't really speak to the rest. -
Christmas started as a pagan holiday. Christians adopted the holiday for their own devices.

You have another canned food day in the spring and I'll be there.

So, CB didn't open the rhodo today. They had 2 hits blown, but hadn't shaped the lips. A couple random piles of snow, presumably for jibs, and the wall ride which is positioned diagnally at the end of rhodo. None of it was really groomed at all. I'm guessing tomorrow. Laurel was a big improvement over last week. Both hits are real solid, and the park crew was rotating through the jibs fixing the trannys. Certiainly not anything to brag about, but at least the park was rideable. A bunch of people were throwing down too.

Right side of cliffy. Asp isn't wide enough to have a groomed section, and the trail is probobly the best black they have. I would hate to lose it to bumps. Actually I'd vote for marjies but I don't see that happening any times soon.
-
I'm gonna try and be there thursday. Probobly in the morning but possibly also in the evening.

With the forshadowing I was sure there was gonna be a nasty injury. Glad to hear thats not that case. Thanks for shedding some light on the "subject" though.

I did this with the last ticket I had. Would have been 3 points, but they dropped it to a 5 mpg over. I'm not sure if it gave me points, but since it was 2 speeding infractions within a 3 year period my insuracne went up. Apparently the best is to shoot for a "failure to observe traffic markings" which is no points and a lesser fine. Since it's not the same as a speeding violation I don't think my insurance will go up again, but I'm not postitive. Apprently everything gets reported even if there are no points issued. The last time I went to court it was a huge hassle though. I'll be paying for years if they do jack my rates, but the cop was pretty pissed and I'm not sure he's going to want to cut me some slack. Really it comes down to how much do I dislike the stress associated with the court process.

Yeah, this is my 3rd in 4 years. Got it about 2 miles from my house on the way back from a dentist appt. It's a road I rarely travel, and I just wanted to get back home and take a nap. Didn't realize how fast I was going. I haven't decided if I'm going to fight it yet. If I can't keep my rates from going up I don't see the point in lowering the fine. At least with the paperwork it will be a about a year till the insurance rates change, so I can start to save up. ... you'd think I would learn. The officer gave me the ticket and goes "Since you've recieved a few of these before I'm sure you know what to do."
-
he can. It's up in the air right now. I thought I was gonna have plenty of money, but after a speeding ticket today, I'm out $155 and I need to start saving for when my insurance compnay catches word of it

Even if their not done with the ski's you should be able to go pick them up in the morning, take them out for the day and drop them off again. Although I'm sure with Papa's connections he can get you into the "priority que." I'll be riding Whiteface all day on the 24th, so I won't be able to make the BC day. Hope everyone has a great time!

I think OLN uses that slot for either racing or freestyle events. Just depends on what is going on that week, and what they think will get ratings. The celeb racing was pretty funny, one of the celebs was only on skis for their second time. I wish I had OLN, but watching celebs sking and a few ex-racers run a easy race coarse beats whatever else was on the basic cable at work.
