  1. It wasn't that he was going that close, its that I was moving forward and he came around in front of me heading directly across the trail, and turned up the trail when he was around me. If we had collided I would have been T-boning him. It would have been a VIOLENT crash.
  2. Revision of plans I don't have the money to be there all day. I'll either ride the morning or afternoon session. Depends on who I can get to ride with me, and when.
  3. I'll probobly be there all day as well unless CB steps up and opens.
  4. Uh oh, I hope you broke it to the 'rents already... It's bad news to let that kind of stuff sit around. You don't want them to find out with an insurance bill...

    Snow at CB

Thanks for bringing that up. In the back of my mind there was a "sense" that mountains (especially CB) wouldn't want to open without beginner terrain, and I certainly wouldn't expect to see CB open without at least one intermediate/advanced run. That must have been where that "sense" orginated. CB seems to be changing however with their new manager. They have mentioned that they would like to open quickly, and the spending in the park, purchase of a new groomer and talk of a bumped trail all seem very unlike CB. Perhaps opening early will become a reality. I'm not gonna hold my breath, but it is something to hope for right?
  6. brtndominants "situation" http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.p...indpost&p=42356 He doesn't really seem to be in the mood to talk about it. I have my suspiciouns, but I'll respect is desire for anonymity...
  7. Oh snap, I think I know where I'm getting my second season pass for next year . Of course I'll have to give it a sampling before I drop $129, but thats hardly anything compared to the other season pass prices. Awsome college discount! Thanks for the heads up.
  8. Hey, cut PAsucks some slack. You may not like him, but.... he was asked a question and he answered truthfully and flame free I might add. Chill out with the flaming or the will be consequences.
  9. ... now it's over hyped. Anyways their team was at windham today, BLATENTLY cutting people off. It was lousy but, I got really pissed off when I was cut off but INCHES by a skier coming from my blind side in front of me then headed up hill to meet his friends. I think I may have it on video but I'm not sure. My life flashed before my eyes. I think I was probobly the last gate in a human slalom, and I was going to fast?!?! Anyways, I was gonna start yelling at him but he was too far up the trail (remember he turned to ski up the trail). Anyways Zaldon reports the same thing happening several times to him throughout the day, I can't imagine it was anyone other than the ski team, as no one else really seemed to have the ability to carve a turn.
  10. There was about a foot and a half of complete crud. I'm not sure if it normally has big lumps in the headwall, but they were fun to jump off of since they had 9-12 ft of almost vertical drop directly after them. I think they were probobly just where the guns were aimed and the trail was never groomed. It wasn't quite skied enough to be a bump run, and it wasn't smooth enough to carve a real line. If you got in the back seat and straight bombed that was the most organized way of getting down the trail. It was a blast to watch everyone tumble their way down. As I alluded to ealier, the ability level of the skiers/riders for whatever reason wasn't that great today. Zaldon even commented that "Atomic could even show these people how to carve better." As a result of the lousy sking lots of people ended up falling down more of the wall than actually sking it. I don't think Zaldon or I had any real bad falls on it, but it was sketch to say the least. I'd love to go back when the mountain is a bit more "in the swing of things" but doubt I will find the motivation when more localized hills are open. ... if only we could convince phil to do similar
  11. Background: Spent today (black friday) at windham with Zaldon. Arrived just 10 minutes after opening and left around 1:45 for a number of reasons. Had a blast while I was there. I think there was about 2 inches of snowfall there last night, but I'm not positive. We spent the day free riding. I worked on carving, and found a couple of natural features to play around on. There was a 6 foot cliff that was alot of fun, but a bit on the sketchy side. It was a game time decision between hunter and windham. With $25 lift tickets windham won out. The crowd (hate to say it DMC) was a bit friendly than my last visit to Hunter, however, from the looks of things it wasn't any less crowded. All in all I'm glad I made the decision to press on to Windham. The price, attitude of the crowd, and the new mountain experience (my first time to windham) made it worth while to me. Snow Guns: The guns turned on and pointed at the trail we were riding the whole time we were there. Apparently this is common practice for windham as I have heard others report similar experiences with the guns. I suppose it slowed the deteroation of the conditions quite a bit but it was a bit rough on any exposed skin. Trails: We spent most of the day on the top to bottom blue run (bypass-upper whistler-lower whistler) with 2 runs on a double black (the wall) which connected to upper whistler. A green trail (what's next) was also open but we didn't ride it as it was serviced by a fixed grip double and didn't seem worth our time. Conditions The conditions were pretty good early in the morning. A very fluffy machine groomed surface was maintained until around noon when some hardpack began to show up in the areas between the snowguns. The double black was totally crud all day, which was the main reason we only took two runs, though for what it was they were fun (the two runs that is). The areas with gun coverage started to get bumped up a little by noon as well. So between the lack of skier ability on the slopes, and the degrading conditions there was a number of people getting taken off the mountain in sleds.

    Snowboarders

Other ski areas hold Nastar races at different times. On Jan 7 camelback has a slalom and grand slalom for snowboarders as part of the Mid-Atlantic snowboard series. For more details visit the Mid atlantic snowboard series website
  13. Is there any television coverage on normal cable channels? We lost OLN about 6 months back, it's been lousy ever since...
  14. If others had similar experiences I'll share, I don't want to paint them as bad guys if this was a once and done thing.
  15. Before I go on a rampage... Does anyone have any personal experience with the Mount Peter Race team? I'm want to know if my encounter today was usual for their team, or perhaps it was just first day back excitement... I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment.
  16. I'm planning on heading to windham tomorrow. Passing hunter on the way might be tough. Windham is $15 cheaper though... we shall see.

    magna traction

Of coarse someone who doesn't sell burton is going to rag on them. They are probobly the biggest competition for ANY other board company. It's a lousy business practice to sing the praises of the company you are competing with. Quite frankly I have a hard time believing ANYTHING reps or sales people have to say. They are good matching boarding style/ability to their particular line, but all they hear is marketing hype from the various reps. No thanks... It sucks you got pulled into the hype too. In the end who really cares who invented what technology, or where it's made. If I can get the best board, at a resonable price thats the most important thing right?!?!?

    Hunter 11-19

The real question isn't about the crowds. The real question is about why you are riding the lift down the mountain?!?!
  19. Just got back from CB. They are blowing on meadows, coolmoor, marjies, nile and honey moon lane (as a way back from over by nile?!?!?). They may have been blowing on more, I didn't take the time to find a good spot to stop, and I was driving... Coolmoor was the only area I could really see the snow clearly. They had a half inch cover at best. Not bad for only a few hours of blowing though. I'll try and take a trip out tomorrow and find out more. Thats what I saw. After looking at the trail map again, there must have been blowing else where, but thats all I saw... hopefully better report tomorrow... if CB's site doesn't beat me to it.
  20. No clue, but I plan on driving out to see it!
  21. Well faster you mean... they had FULL coverage by January
  22. WU-TANG! Usually hip-hop when I ride.
