Why don't you wait till the fall festival day to try and get the group rate?

Link's still broke...

If nile were turned into a terrain park it would either have to be an AMAZING park, or I would go to blue for a pass. Long cruising runs are a neccessity, giving up the ONLY one at CB for a park would be a big mistake. Not to mention, it turns quite a bit and has no natural landings. Pretty poor choice for park trails if you ask me...

Link's broke.

My a-frames didn't fit my helmet right, it was only bad on really cold days when I didn't bring a hood for underneath my helmet.
-
The bumps at blue were on main st.... They were kinda icey but they worked out. I don't think you would want them on anything with less pitch than that.
-
My a frames are alright. I've cracked two lenses, and they got plenty of scratches. I didn't use the protective casing, and left them on my helmet, but I'm going to do that bottom line. They work well in lousy light conditions other than that they are just anti-fog lenses. I guess thats optical clarity but I'm pretty sure all goggle manufactures have the light enhancement and anit-fog lenses?????

Bumps on meadows? Whats the point? I'd like to see half of cliffy bumped up...

I saw the dude ride bumps . Although he couldn't stop complaining about them

He'd have to be a pretty chill dad to let you come along reguardless of what your doing with his daughter. Maybe he's counting on "anything" happening in six months and just wants some cheap labor now. Helping him around the house is cool reguardless of the trip or not as long as your not spending more time doing that then mackin it with his daughter. You always want to keep your g/f's dad happy. Just in case he does find you he'll be less likely to kick your ass if he thinks your a good guy otherwise. I dated a chick whose dad was a militant communist, and a bank forecloser. Probobly the most heartless invdividual I've ever met, ... keep her dad happy.

BUMPS Was there really anything they couldn't groom without the wenchcat? I'm certainly no expert on grooming but it was my understanding that CB's pitches were mild enough you could drive a regular groomer over everything. Hence, 100% groomed trails. 9 new rails! Sounds like things may big time at CB. Then again maybe it's all marketing hype. Time will tell.

I don't buy the end of the "fill in the blank" industry because of ebay. I've heard it from the music (production, and consumtion) industry, ski, computer, etc. I haven't seen any of the industries go under. So the market changes, ADAPT. You're ski shop doesn't want to participate in the online market, it's loss.

They are great places to hang out and check out new gear. Sometimes they have knowledgable staff sometimes they have stuck up kids who give customers attitude. They are usually overpriced, and largely inconvenient for me (both in business hours and location). However... Most of my gear came from snowboard shops. Most of my gear choices came from what shop employees told me. Before I did my own waxing/base repair shops did it. My boots died mid season this past year, and I NEEDED new boots in a matter of a day or two. Ebay simply was not an option. I didn't even know where to begin with boots, and quite frankly as far as boots are concerned you need to try them on. Sure you can go home and order them on ebay after trying them out, but if I'm at the store already... Ebay also doesn't have a ready stock of the newest gear, which in the case of my next bindings is a big deal, I'll be paying full store price for them, and to me its worth it. I believe in a DIY approach to everything. If I can find a way to cut out the middle man I will. Hopefully one day I will have the resources available to never HAVE to step foot in a ski shop. In the meantime, they are rather convenient. I will add though that I bought my snowboard from ebay and saved over $200 which is facilitating my purchase of the new bindings. I don't know enough about childrens ski boots, mondo sizing etc. to comment directly on whether purchasing childrens boots is a MUST to try on before hand. I would trust '999 on that.

Not to mention less crowds. Once the roads clear everyone and there grandma is trying to enjoy the freshly fallen snow. Take advantage of the powder while you can by braving the weather. Live fast die young I suppose.

Thats not what was said at all...

If you have the tools and materials. Add a front to it like a battleship would have. Cut your 4x4 end at a 45 degree angle and throw copping on the sides. Line it up and file it down nicely. That way if you miss the rail will push you up anyways. If you have welding stuff weld the connection and file it down, otherwise, just do your best not to leave a gap.

In this area... alpine, shawnee, bear creek, tanglewood, etc. Further north places like camelback would be considered small.
-
Parkbuilder... why don't you convince your bosses the A-frame would be a worthwhile investement for shawnee? If you gave them a decent deal you could session it on a regular basis, let lots of people see your work, and make the money. Just a thought...

Cranmore? The mountain ranges in the back look like they could match. Just following montage's suggestion.
-
Small mountains are great. They are where the locals will spend their time. I wouldn't make the trip to CT to ride before K-mart opens, heck I don't even go to shawnee so I can ride first in the pocono's and it's closer to me than my home mountain is. When your home mountain IS the one with those advantages, it really shows the small mountains are where the PASSION is. That says alot. Bear Creek is a perfect example of a passionate resort, and it shows. People LOVE Bear Creek, because despite their shortcomings in size, and region, they really do care about the sport, and the people. The larger resorts are concerned with the money. If having quality runs means money, thats what they will focus on. Obviously opening early isn't cost effective for K-mart, so they lose out to a smaller hill, who cares about early season riding. Is it cool... very. Is it really sticking it to K-mart... I'm not quite sure.

I see 'ski' is in quotes. Does that mean ski/ride? I'm assuming not, but thought I would check.

Better lighting (IMO) less people, consistant trail conditions, laid back staff. The fact that I can get 2 times as many runs from 7-10 than I can get from 12-5 on a weekend means alot. The night is so much more peaceful anyways. I go snowboarding largely because it gets me away from everything, so the peaceful factor means alot. Also, the night crowd is fairly skilled. Maybe not on the same par as the 8am crowd, but its a more relaxed crowd than the 8am bunch.
-
I see your point, but with property taxes, you come another day, with the mountain (at least for day passers) you either get to ski a trial or not. Again, it's not the strongest in the world, but understand where they are coming from thats all...
-
Except you don't drop $35+ a day to play in the park. Racing happens, I'm the last to complain about it, but I can understand people's frustration. Especially in this area where trails are limited in numbers anyways. Fortunately none of my favorite "sweet spots" are used for races at CB. I suppose cliffy has a race on it at some point, but it hasn't bothered me yet.
