    hydro pack algae

Mine got algae (actually he might be talking about cleaning mine ) and I only ever used water. It won't allow for backwash either. It was filtered water as well. So I don't think I'm buying your claim. Although... leaving the water in the pack for 8+ weeks... probobly not the best idea.
  2. I didn't read the first link, might have caused some confusion (at least on my end). The way I see it: Either the claim about 66 degrees is WELL founded or not. I would like to have a non mountain employee check the steepness of the trail over the steepest 60+ foot section. Granted thats still pretty short in the ski world, but its at least enough space to get a quick turn in. Hidden sweet spots, abosolutely, at CB they change week by week, based on grooming, traffic, weather etc. However, I think there is a bit of marketing involved in dentons "sweet spot." Pesonally to me, it was a fact finding mission. Maybe the guys at alpine zone just want to prove how great they are, I don't know.
  3. A quote from the discussion linked above. Another thread about it here.... http://timefortuckerman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3565 Looks like 'mum even participated. At the end of the thread he uses the same faulty math they were speaking against. He mentions that indeed the trail is not even 66% grade for the entire trail. However without riding it, you cannot make a resonable guess as the the steepness of the headwall, when there is a distinct possiblity of runnout or the like. In short... measure the angle of the slope on too short a distance, and its not very realistic, take a slope measurement over too long a distance and you lose accuracy as well.
  4. Just for sake of example... http://www.jfbb.com/winter-jf-trail-maps.aspx Both trail maps and conditions SAME page. Where they are located in the menu's is open for discussion, however you can make a REASONABLE argument for trail map's under the 'conditions' heading. I don't think the site looks great but it doesn't LOOK bad either. They got rid of the old color scheme and things look a little cleaner. The menu sucks (even disregarding the trail map issue). It just a lousy interface. My biggest qualm is they didn't seem to add any content. Oh well, they tried right? Either way I'm greatfull for the new color scheme.
  5. Much better... Maps under conditions... I think many mountains do that so you can compare what is open to what is available.

    New Stuff

... you don't think reducing surface area exposed to the cold has anything to do with it?
  7. I'm not sure how I feel about announcing opening dates this early on. Getting people excited about the winter season is great. Giving people false hopes or even worse picking a non-aggresive starting date.

    New Stuff

Haven't picked anything up yet. I need new bindings and I'm looking at the spx pro's. I will probobly pick up a new pair of boots as well. At some point I will (hopefully) need a ski patrol jacket. I need new snow pants, goggle lenses, probobly gloves. I don't know if I will follow through with purchasing of all that, but I definately need the bindings, and the jacket.
  9. Why not, early season trips up north seem to be an essential for the pa racer.

    Just saying Hello

They have a pipe competition every year. They have some races as well, but I think they may just be for the younger ages.

    A rumor

I think the bumps on asp this past season were just out of laziness. Planned, managed (possibly with hay bails, well we can hope right...) will hopefully be MUCH better. Time will tell. I'm there mostly during the night, so either way I will probobly see it on the icey side of things.

    A rumor

Woohoo, hopefully it will be on one of the front blacks. I vote marjies.

    Just saying Hello

Sorry... long story short I was tired. Welcome to the site, hope to see you at CB, I ride there nearly daily.
  14. Yes, how did it turn out please do share!
  15. All balls and no brain, Zaldon will striaght bomb anything. Good bad or indifferent he does. Feel free to call him out, but he will follow through.

    Granola bars

I thought ALL the car manufacturers were having money troubles as of late. Hence the employee pricing from Ford, GM, Chrysler (aka Jeep). Apparently no one was making any money from the cars, just from the financing they were providing. Was jeep the only ones doing well? I find that hard to believe, but I could be very wrong.
  17. My class last year did nile in 3:30, I'm sure if you were alone, and not hitting all the walls, making turns etc it you could get it around 2. Kind of pointless if you ask me though. Now fastest time down Pharoah/bactrian, thats a worthwhile race. It not only takes some riding ability, it also takes getting there at the right time for conditions and crowds. Best natural 'race' coarse on the mountain IMO, assuming the conditions/crowd are right. Thats the trail I ride on powder days.
  18. Different ski area's have different focus's. Blue obviously wants to push the fact that they have the most vert. Camelback wants to be THE resort in the pocono's, bear wants the best park, and shawnee wants to be the first open. The mountains are shooting for a certain market, based on the facilities available. Good, bad or indifferent they all have different goals. Best to find the mountain that suits you best.

  20. I'm not sure that's fair. Perspective plays a huge roll. ALL kids aren't lazy.
