    ski's for steeze

Yes congrats steezemachine on the sponsorships. In a few years he will be coaching COC!
  2. Looks like we are headed to whiteface as of right now. Some family friends (who aren't big skiers ) convinced the parents to check it out. Someone from this board mentioned it being icey there?
  3. Are those old boots? I thought you had black ones...

    Hot wax

If cold weather wax is left on could it lead to uneven base wear?

    Edge Damage

A friend ripped a 3 foot piece off his edge on his snowboard last season. To cut it, install a new piece, and fix the base it was 60 I think.
  6. That reminds me greg when are we getting that purple scrolling text working?
  7. Oh come on! You have to be kidding me if you are saying that stretched gif at the top doesn't look awsome. I'm sure the lack of "fancy formatting" and other bells and whistles you guys love was to stream line the data transfer.
  8. Actually, I think there is probobly a tendency to assume the horse is facing the camera. Your posture doesn't look like your facing the camera so it messes with the mind. The mind searches for the head of the horse, and sees the head of the guy in the background. Just some theories.
  9. Skimom... the person behind you 'at a glance' looks like the head of the horse, putting you on it backwards. Funny every time I see it .
  10. "hand of god maradona" the first link on google gave an entertaining recounting of the event for us less knowledgeble. I'm assuming maradona is the one on hte left?

Do I sense a PASR day down under? ... does NZ count as down under?
  12. New ideas, products, services etc come out all the time. LOTS of them aren't as good as the creators make them out to be. I'm not going to try to pretend like I know what I'm talking about when it comes to skiing, but as a general rule, the burden of proof is on you to show quality of product. If someone is going to spend money, time, and habit to a ski technique they want to be sure of the product they are purchasing. The people who jump on everything new are the people who get burned. YOU have to build a reputation, YOU have to show that your technique can out perform existing techinques, YOU have dispell arguments that the technique will work on steep pitches. If YOU can't perform on a FIS level with your technique you need someone else who can, to start to convince the general public. Even then you should have SEVERAL FIS hot shots to really prove your point. In my opinion you need a solid 15 days to START to get comfortable with new techniques on a snowboard. I assume it would be similar with your waist steering and skiing. To me 15 days is HUGE in terms of lost riding time for me anyways. Thats almost a 1/4 of the days I rode this past season. Most on the east ski far less. All this to say, I would be pretty pissed if I signed up for a program that did little or nothing for me, and I needed to spend the remainder of the season, or following season UN-learning what was taught. Again, I could care less whether your technique is the wave of the future or a total sham. Just simply saying "trust me", isn't enough. I apologize if you have already addressed all these points, I am not as "read up" on the topic as I probobly should be.

    Tuning Equipment

I've pinned the topic for now.
  14. Sounds like a weight thing, Justin your pretty small/light. You probobly weren't putting the force on it like the others were. To to mention a smaller boot will mean a stronger bladder.

    snowboard demos

To me, it sounds like you want a very stable cruising board. At your weight I wouldn't go much lower than a 158. If memory serves me the discord is a park board, so you might want something a little bit stiffer (this may help with your flat straight fast issues, as will more practice). I just bought a fairly stiff 154 and wish I had something closer to a 156 or even 158, I weigh around 150 pounds. A shorter board will in general be less stable, and have more chatter at speeds. Unless you want to ride the park more, I just don't see a shorter board as being a positive thing. The larger stiffer boards will take a little more work to move around but at higher speeds, thats not an issue, and the stability you get at those speeds makes it worthwhile.

    snowboard demos

The loft at camelback does "high end line" demos for something like $30. I don't know all the rules. Nestors does a demo day at CB and presumabely other mountains. Hunter had a HUGE demo when I went early in the season last year. They had ALL the vendors with boots, bindings, skis and boards. I think it was a $150 deposit and you got a ticket which you gave to the vendor when you took the equipment out, and got back when you returned. You could try out as much as you wanted, assuming the equipment wasn't out on the mountain. At the end of the day you returned the ticket and got your deposit. I would recommend that or something similar.
  17. I asked about bindings... for some reason I thought he rode flows which I have little suggestion for. From my experience matching boot and binding brands makes a huge difference, but I am using solamons who specifically go out of their way to make their boots/bindings fit PERFECTLY together. I have a pair of k2 boots as well, and I get all sorts of pressure points when I use them in teh solamon bindings. I've heard good things about DC, and I believe the Judge's use the boa system which is supposed to be great. If you can find a place to try them on and test them against your bindings, then that would be my recommendation. I honestly know nothing about flow bindings but would love to try them sometime. It seems the would be the most "universal" binding for fitting boots. Let me know how you think they stack up compared to your burtons when you ride them!
  18. What bindings are you riding with? Aren't you using flow bindings?

HOW DID U NO!!!!!!!!11. Do u want in on my email list, we have TONS of funny emailz lolzkkthnxbye. Posting "this sucks" does abosolutely nothing to add to the value of a thread. My post on the other hand did exactly what it was meant to do, it got you to post more information about what you were saying, thus adding to the value of the thread. If a few people got a laugh out of it (I know I did the first time I saw the form) then even better. We (the moderating staff) had been waiting a while to find something truely poor enough to warrant the use of it, so congradulations you win the prize! To everyone else its Glenn not Glen. BTW, thank you for the info you did provide, it was helpful, and provided some background info on the products HISTORY which up to this point has been a mystery.
  20. I found making my own turns without the ruts was more fun so I probobly won't be heading through gates any time soon, but thanks for that background info. Hah, $5000 for a timing gear... how much does a mountain spend to install a halfpipe or sound system, or special park grooming gear for their groomers. I think the big difference is the park will bring people (which means money) in. Nastar is simply a burdon on resources. Although, if the coarse is in place already. Maybe its time to drop a few notes in the suggestion box. Maybe if we could get one mountain to change others would follow. How is the NASTAR at shawnee?
  21. ... montage leaves their gates from the race team out don't they? I know zaldon and I ran through them on our way down the far (skiers) right hand side of the mountain. I always assumed the price went to keep the guy in the both and happy. Never considered the fact that the park crew comes out of the lift ticket money. Where does that money go? You said NASTAR is what the mountain makes of it, can they run it for free if they wanted to? That 18 y.o. parent consent thing is a bunch of garbage. I would definately run NASTAR more if it were free...
  22. ... how does that entice more "expert" type skiers/boarders to race. I understand it's a better system but I fail to see the "bait" or incentive for the USSA type racers. Whats the point (aside from recreation) in racing on a nearly straight coarse with no real reward for racing well. Presumably top USSA racers are looking to move to the U.S. devo team (I'm a bit shaky on the order of things so if this is wrong please let me know). If NASTAR doesn't help those interests, why spend the time? I'm not saying USSA racers won't race NASTAR (they do currently) but I don't see how this change will knock open the floodgates. ... am I missing something?
  23. I got a chuckle out of that...

    autospin bindings

You posted a link for binding risers. The auto spin concept is totally different. Risers simply give more pressure on the edges and help people eliminate toe/heel drag. The auto spin "easily" rotates the binding so you skate in more of a skateboard stance, and so you can have the board facing forward on the lift etc. Please read through the first link in this thread for more info.
