  1. Never went to wintergreen. There are 2 mountains to my knowledge in Virginia. Wintergreen and Massanutten. I learned to snowboard at massanutten however wintergreen is supposed to be the nicer of the two. Mass had a fairly impressive park when I was there, which was 6+ years ago. I remember people doing inverted aerials... but I don't remember any pipe. The snow when I was there was slushy but there seemed to be plenty of it. It was too hot during the day to wear a jacket (all 3 times I went), however by night a light jacket become nessecary. Mass felt like more a "destination" resort than anything around the poconos does. I'm not sure if it was the fact that it was a resort and not just a mountain, or my young age, or simply that going to the mountain was such a magical experience (remember, I only went 3 times, prior to that 1 trip out to colorado which I hardly remember, and cross country skiing as a VERY young child which I don't remember at all). All that being said, if I had a choice between hunter and massanutten and anything in NY, I would go to NY just for the snow quality. The only thing that keeps me in PA is the convenience, but hey if you're down in VA for a weekend anyways, I would say it's definately worth your time. ... it took me 3 hours to get the mountain when I lived in Va, imagine the sheer delight when I found out I would be moving to a place where the closest mountain was less than a half hour away!

    Season Passes

If anyone is feeling trusting... I'm sure you don't need bodies there to get the reduced rate, just the money. In other words if you can't make the meeting and trust someone who will be there with your money, they can purchase your pass. Of coarse you will need to come in later and sign lots of garbage, but I'm sure they would be happy to take your money without you being there!
  3. I would put in a weekend of work to have a PASR rail at CB.
  4. The setups got better than previous years. The 40 is in HORRIBLE condition. I don't know what they can do with it, but if it can't be straightened it needs to be cut up or tossed.

    Season Passes

Bear creek offers discounted bulk season tickets (I believe) for "buddy's" or presumabley any group who was organized and motivated enough for a bulk of season passes. He is trying to organize such a group for cheaper rates.
  6. Well, that didn't answer either of my questions... wanna try again?
  7. What size are the bindings? Would you sell them alone?
  8. He's not on the payroll, but he is obsessed with the mountain. I've never had issues with the snow quality, although I usually ride at night, and have only ridden at blue starting in the morning. Certainly not a fair comparison. Blue's snowmaking is pretty impressive.
  9. Nothing like running a slalom coarse in the pipe
  10. ... or feel free to post them here!
  11. Already saw them, I thought they were pretty cool. Looks like shark fishing is alot of fun...
  12. Welcome ktlu, great to have another seven springs local! Keep us updated on the mountain.
  13. ... this ben is what Margaritaville was referring to.
  14. I think we all do, which is why would be nice to see rob step up to the position as he would be yet another one of the rangers doing the job PROPERLY.
  15. Again ben, great points. I still think the fact that they have supervisors and some level of accountability if you really pushed the issue you'd be better off. I'll take a warning or even a lost ticket for the day, and a shouting match with some power fiending ranger than an injury from a moron out of control that takes me out for 3 days or more. Just a thought...
  16. I don't mind cops when I am on foot. What do I have to hide... I rutinely get in conversations with them, most are great guys. I just hate when I see them on the road. I don't mind riding the lift with the rangers either, but I can't stand seeing them stopped on trails waiting for me to do something wrong. I've yet to be ticket by the rangers though, they are gonna get an earful if they ever try... unless of coarse I'm WAY out of line.
  17. Design is one thing, maintenance is another.
  18. I think what ben fears is not in fact you Rob, its the slippery slope concept. If you do well with the park, others will follow, others who are less disciminating in there "targets" for ticketing. I'm not sure what I think on the subject. The park has issues just like the rest of the mountain, dare I say many more issues than the rest of the mountain. It would be nice to see the park crew take care of the issue but I don't see that happening any time soon. I don't feel comfortable with rangers around, just like I don't feel comfortable driving with cops around. I'm a decent driver and a decent snowboarder, I can take care of myself in both those situations, but we all make mistakes and I always get on nerve when THEY are watching for one. It's a tough call, I think I would rather deal with rangers though were I can nagotiate and complain to boss when I feel I have been unfairly treated than deal with kids cutting me off, running into me, sitting in landings etc. I'm sure others will disagree.
  19. ... who needs all night skiing to do that? I wonder what your dad the ranger would say?
  20. ... if I had money I would make an offer, but 150 seems a bit high. I bet you could get them new on ebay for less...
  21. ... doesn't Mountian Creek have one? And a gondola as well?
  22. This conversation has already happened here... http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1068 You even participated... I won't lock the topic this time, but there is no need for ranger bashing, arguments about signage etc...
  23. I've found if you are super stable (if so you are OBVIOUSLY in control), you can be moving rather fast, and it doesn't look it. I've made big smooth turns and blown by rangers and they didn't do a thing while remaining super stable. While others have been going slower, and making more eratic movements have gotten tickets. Kind of the difference between a 747 and a puddle hopper. Both may be in control, and the 747 goes faster, but who LOOKS to be in more control...
  24. ... I see your home mountain is CB
  25. Half hour makes a big difference, your right about the lifts being empty at current opening. Now think about already skiing for a half hour and THEN having the lift lines of 8am. ... and yes I WOULD show up a half hour early for that kind of riding. I'd much rather a ski/board check in over better dining/parking/lockers.
