... they already had a freestyle board team, I think the skiing aspect is the new part. Correct me if I am wrong.

We can hope for lots of things. Time will tell.

Thanks for the info, especially the snowmobiling link. I'll have to give this a look.

Yeah, could you get the size on those boots.

I dig it, lots of cool stuff in there. Everything seems like it is well setup in you diagram... can they actually follow through and set things up correctly though?

The only swith tele work I have seen they look over both shoulders alternating. I'm a snowboarder, so I don't have any first hand experience.

How long is the drive to Okemo?
-
My brother and I will ride just about anything, we prefer blacks, but will do just about anything. My sister likes blue cruisers, she has ridden blacks, but tends to ride more conservatively. My mom and dad haven't skied in about 10 years and I don't know if they will even get out on the snow. My dad used to snow mobile alot, and would much rather be doing that if its available.

We are going to be spending a week where ever we go. So I guess variety would be nice, steepness not as big a deal.

My parents decided that they want to skip the summer vacation this year in favor of a winter vacation up north. So basically the requirements are... on or very near mountain accommodations, a one day drive, room for 5 people, in room kitchen, and obviously a decent mountain. An added bonus would be in area snow mobiling for my dad. Anyways if anyone has a suggestion, it would be appreciated.

I have a pretty beat pair of mittens and unless I ride for more than 3 hours I don't have issues with wet gloves. Maybe there is more snow contact with skiing?!?! I don't think so though. I'm always using my hands to stand up after strapping in at the top of the lift and such. If I spend all day at the mountain, most everything will be wet, but if its just 3 hours or less I'm pretty much dry as a bone, minus any sweating.

I've ridden in a cotton hoodie in everything from rain to snow. I really don't know why all this fuss about water proofing, just layer and make sure your bottom layer doesn't attract water. Besides we don't really get that precipitation around here to warrant anything over the top. Just don't sit around on the snow/ice/rain and you should be ok.

... though if you were actually interested in the park name, you might be more inclined to want a pass there.

I like to support local business in general, but I'm not sure the ski shops are the way to go. I know there are some good people in some of the shops (I take it you are a ski shop employee). I don't get the feeling though that most people in the shops really care about the sport, or care about anything for that matter. It takes a superior package to make me a customer. In this case, I can go online, deal with people who will deal with me professionally, and get high quality gear for cheap. I can get ANY brand, not just the 3 brands the shop has deals with. Now I don't know if these people care about the sport either but at least, I have had positive experiences with my online purchases, can't say the same thing about all my experiences in a ski shop. It's not just about the money, because I buy all my cds from an independent music store. It costs more than online, but its a great atmosphere shopping. I can listen to the cd before I buy, the people are very personable, and have a clue. As far as needing a quick fix, I do more and more of my own work as I go anyways. Assuming all the shops go out of business because of the mail order world, in the long run I would be better off buying another new piece of equipment, because it's cheaper for me to buy two brand new boards online than it is to buy one new board in a store and get it fixed (this thought is laughable, since the mail order shops are just real shops that got smart and started doing online business. Which btw why isn't your shop?).

Easy for you to say

No, the matter has been taken care of. Needless to say it was inappropriate, and does NOT need to be repeated.

I know I said I was done, but the topic has turned in a direction I like. Just thought I would point out that the radius is slightly LARGER than the largest turn the ski can make in a carve. This seems counter intuitive until you consider when a ski goes on edge it flexs slightly thus decreasing the radius of the circle you are carving through. Thus, the the faster you go, the tighter the turn you can make because the ski flexes more. Of coarse that is only looking at the technical aspect of the turn, actually executing a tight turn at high speed obviously becomes harder at high speeds. I've gots some free time, I'll see if I can figure out that radius problem.

Sale negotiations (including resolution of problems) is done by the seller. You can't walk into a department store and start calling the shots when you don't like the shirt you just purchased. Sometimes you get store credit other times full refund other times nothing. Although there is a generally accepted standard that if you have your receipt you should get your money back. Likewise in the land of EBAY there is a generally accepted standard, that if the item is returned for whatever reason, the buyer pays shipping both ways. He apparently has a policy of paying shipping if he is wrong, again this is up to him. ... and no I don't think he's about to admit he was wrong. I think he is trying to understand what you are accusing him of. He does enough business one unhappy mislead customer isn't going to mean anything to him. You don't understand "shakedown" but at the same time you want to wait longer to see if he will send you more valuble items besides socks. If you don't understand where we are coming from I don't think you will. You complain that he took forever, but there is a chance to finish this ugly business now, but you want to drag it out so maybe you can pick up some freebies. Lets just say I have doubts about your motives. And this nonesense about your time wasted, who cares really. He's not responsible for that. I suppose he should pay you for your emotional damages as well. The options are there, take the socks, or send back the skis at the cost of shipping. I'm done in this topic have fun!

You have the protection against false advertisement. He claims he didn't misrepresent the item, and some people on this site agree with him. Ebay's point system is based on user response, so plenty of other people agree with him as well. He's saying your wrong, which he's allowed to do, and he's offering up a return, if you feel you have been slighted. I really don't think you are going to get anywhere contacting ebay, since you are refusing to accept his offer to return the skis. Transactions are two way streets, ebay will not be as won't help you, or be concerned at all, if you are not willing to resolve things in reasonable manners, when they are presented. I don't know how this is using the system to his advantage. It seems to me there is not a universal advantage of one turning radius over another, therefore its not like he is scaming someone into a less desireable turn radius. He is simply using a "lazy" way of describing the ski. When he refers to checking the items, I would assume he is referring to checking for damages, as opposed to a detailed spec check. Other people on this site agree Do you really think hes going to spend lots of money when he feels he didn't do anything wrong? Again, its ebay, not a 24 hour store. It's frustrating, but I can't really see how this makes it worth while for him to send something of significant value (another ski, boot, binding etc). Maybe its not him, maybe its you. It appears it is. Sib knew to ask ahead for the SPECIFIC radius of the ski, not the radius @ length of the ski. Just because you didn't know doesn't mean he is at fault. See above, I don't think hes is referring to specs. Either the product is acceptable or it isn't. Don't try and drag other factors into play just to make out like a bandit. You're mad at this guy for supposedly scaming you into a purchasing a ski, but your not far off trying to get stuff out of him. Are you really insinuating that he hacked the server, or tricked people into giving good ratings? Or are you saying that you are going to be "that guy" that he doesn't please. Again, people on, which I might note have more experience (obviously not me) with ski specs, this site agree with him. I really don't understand this. You're just being belligerent. You refuse to solve the problem. You're angry at him, but you have an agenda, it seems your not interested in solving the problem, but in picking up freebies along the way. If he was trying to scam you out of money, he wouldn't have kept the correspondence going. You will have a shipping receipt for the skis if you send them back. Also he has to verify that there are no damages to the skis before he refunds you etc. I really don't know what you want, but he seems to be pretty willing to fix the problems, and you are fighting the whole way.

Well since he's offering a refund, or socks I don't know how you can complain. If the item isn't right, return it, you pay shipping. Thats the way ebay transactions work man. If you want 100% certainty of the state of your item, don't buy it on ebay, bottom line. If the item is acceptable at some level, take the socks and be on your way.
