  1. If you park a cat somewhere it can't be grooming elsewhere. Lets say you have 10 cats, you will have the staff to man 10 cats for all grooming hours. That means you either screw over drivers on work, or you have one sitting there. You may want to have on sitting there anyways if the cat starts slipping, I don't know. Also, if you do have something else for them to do, you need another employee to shuttle them via snowmobile, or another hour between the two cat drivers involved for the shuttling. So maybe not 2x's the cost, but the cost is significant, especially when it's an ongoing cost, and installing a anchor is a one time cost, which involves a little cement and a metal pole. I've never found them to be a nuisance, in fact there is a good bonk on one at WP. If someone hits that thing, who cares. Ski at your own risk. Besides it's the mountain who is liable not you, stop the fretting.
  2. If you anchor to another cat it costs you twice as much for the same grooming.
  3. The rumor is true, I have it on good authority the latest they will open is 12-4. With the new snow making improvements they may even be open as soon as 11-20!
  4. Boots pack out, and that will add some room, but really he should have boots that fit him. Some shops do seasonal boot rentals where you can change sizes as you grow. Not really ideal because these boots will come packed out and a bit sloppy, but it will be cheaper.
  5. No thanks. I don't want any of YOUR things.
  6. Got some special blends for 50. We will see how they hold up. At that price though, I feel like I can afford to buy 2 pair this winter.
  7. TTC6 did something via PM that more than warrant banning him IMHO. I don't think we need to revisit it, but it was substantially more than what was in the open forums.
  8. Seelow, you could at least ride at some point in your life. We get it. You hung out with people we don't and got free shit. We get it. We also understand you are trying to punt that free shit here at stupid high prices. This makes you an asshole whether or not you can ride well. Get it?

  10. Also to get to central city you have to drive the central city parkway, which is a nice way of calling it a pass. It's not super gnarly, but it has gates and they can close it.
  11. I suggest canceling this. Central city is in bumble fuck. It is a casino town. You can get shitty drinks and shitty food in the middle of the night and pull on a handle (not your own) and that's about it. Stay in Georgetown over this place. I had a friend who stayed there and it was a huge pain in the ass, and he still got stuck in I-70 traffic everyday. At night maybe a 40 min drive to WP, during ski traffic, more like 2 hours.
  12. Meh, for a moderated board I think this is a pretty good scenario. Certain mods have some pretty thin skin, but overall it's better than a lot of other forums I've been in. I LOVE TGR's moderation, but it only works because their community is big enough. There are some random D-bags that come along and they get dealt with. Any forum that could get Doug to walk away is a forum for me. That being said, you pretty much have to understand if you say some stupid shit you will get slapped. If you say some intelligent things, some drunk will probably shit on you anyways. You smile, because it's fun and that's all skiing is anyways, and the conversation continues.
  13. They will still take your stuff. The same thing happened in Denver and the police for upped the efforts until the following year when voters told city police to stand down. Since under state law possession (including para) is illegal, they can take your stuff.
  14. I'd like to piss myself a few times on the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.
  15. I agree, but I get out a lot. Gear makes my experiences happen. Also, I live where I want to play. I haven't even skimmed the surface of the paddling opportunities in CO. Snowboarding I have plenty to explore as well. That being said, if I don't have the gear that lets me do that stuff, I can't do it. I use things until they are beaten and unusable or, in the case of my boat, where I have simply out grown it.
  16. I whitewater kayak. I broke my paddle this year and my boat is somewhat limiting. Plus I have other stuff I should replace as well. I could easily spend $3k tomorrow in a whitewater outfitter to get the stuff I "need" for next spring.
  17. I'd buy a bunch of the paddling gear I can't afford. Then I would spend a lot of time between Jackson, Whistler and Baker. Japan would be cool too, but logistically it isn't quite as easy.

    Getting into skiiing

Get tele gear because if you ever want to get into backcountry in a big way you are on the best equipment for going up. Buy your gear. Renting is just pissing money away. There are so many deals out there between gear swaps, end of season sales and online stores, you really won't have to spend that much. Also, you can sell your gear when you need to trade up, so again you aren't pissing away that money. Even if you do end up renting I would think buying your own boots would be worth while. Also you are gay, just get better at snowboarding.
  19. That's true but Loveland isn't a bad place to be stuck with a ton of snow.
  20. I live in Fraser now, so if you end up at the Rocky Mountain Inn I can maybe making a bar appearance depending if I have work that night.
  21. There ain't shit to do in Georgetown. They have a cool coffee shop for your morning juice. Nice for you. I can't believe they only gave us 4 last year. If I was a 1st year employee I would have been given 2.
  22. Where are you staying? WP looks closer to Denver but it's really a small difference in driving time. It takes a while to get over the pass, especially if there is any traffic or snow. If it's clear driving over the pass is beautiful and I personally love to do it, it just takes a while.
