Shawnee to stay open until the 27th - at least!

Of coarse... their night skiing has been closed for a few weeks already. -
Is any of this Delaware rain snow in the Poconos?

Maybe 8 inches of precipitation, but I doubt there will be that much accumulation, and even if there is, this stuff is very soggy. Definitely not ideal powder. -

We have a about 2 inches of VERY WET snow here in stroudsburg. It's still coming down pretty hard. -
Right now I think we are just throwing around ideas. So nothing is definite.

I think we would all LIKE to go. Whether or not it will become a reality is whats really in question. It's way to far away right now for me to know for sure.

And for added challange... those with paintball guns can snipe jeff as he's making his round

I only see 2 people who fell.

I think we were in the 30's, but I could be wrong.

I really wanted to be there, and I planned on spending a long day there today, but I'm still pretty beat up after ONE fall I took at bear on sat. My right knees feels really bad. Every time I walk it feels like im landing from three feet up and my knees are locked, and thats just walking, I can only imagine how riding would feel. My shoulder also feels pretty messed up. I'm going to be there thur, and if I'm lucky I'll make it up fri as well. Sorry you missed me. I felt missing a day at the end of the season, but I figured spending a day in pain, even if it is at the mountain, isn't any fun.

Eh, got way to technical way to fast, espeacially since I don't ski. I just wanted a quick overview. Whatever happened to simple teaching techniques like analogies, when I took my snowboard class they were still using that stuff, and my class was all college students. Oh well If it were only that easy, the money/time is a bigger issue than trying to actually make it (though I don't think I would have qualified with my times on sun).

What's the basic concept behind this waist steering? Or do you have to take the clinic to know what all the hype is about?
-
I'll be at CB till about noon on thur. Hopefully....

Most of my time is spent on blacks. I take park runs, bucause I like to be well rounded, and lots of air is fun to me. I've dabbled in jibbing as well. All in all though, if I could live 2 min from montage or 2 min from bear, I would have to pick being 2 min from montage.

Thats a little bit of a cop out. You don't judge a mountain on what it could be you judge it on what it is. Elk sounds more like my kind of mountain, but I must say, I had a lot more fun at bear than I expected.

Well, aside from the money, there is also the time issue. I got off of school the first week of may. I really don't care that I would be missing the parks and such. Simply being able to ride several weeks after the season is over would be enough for me. And hey if its may, I'd be willing to camp out to cut costs. No doubt there would be some excelent mountain biking up there as well
-
... I was actually thinking along the same lines. I don't konw if it would be a big thing, but I'd like to head up there in may, if they have discounted tickets that is. It's really about the money at this point.

You beat me to it. I will be there tonight, maybe a few days during the week but doubtful.

Can't say I've seen too many skiers with twins actually carve going forward There is a ski patrol at camelback who tele's on twins, and most definitely can carve switch. It's pretty excellent to see, especially since he was doing it down the asp.

Do not switch stances? I hope your talking about changing the board from regular to goofy or vice versa. I would hope he would adjust his foot angles as he finds a comfortable regular and switch foot angle. As far as learning, I'm not the greatest switch rider, and I have no intentions to be, but... I practice 180's all the time, on the flat, off small little natural features, bigger jumps etc. So, if you just work on 180's you will be switch alot. I don't know if you have aspirations to ride the blacks switch, but for the basic landing spins, switch off of rails etc, my technique seems to be working. I worked at the beginning of the year with the method forumpl155 but it was too tedious, I'd much rather just ride. On the other hand, like I said... I'm not the greatest switch rider. Either way, its all about practice, and getting comfortable with everything being backwords.

I know, I hate it when pro baseball players roll into the park like they own it...

Apparently its mounted the opposite way now, so its like a shotgun rail to the back side of a rainbow. Apparently its real easy to just miss the drop off if you want to.
-
It seems the issue is just the complete ignorance moreso than a negligent attitude. I think the instructors could maybe go over basic park ettuqite. I try to educate those around me when waiting for a park feature (which doesn't happen often). I think things are only going to change if we the skiers/riders work to change it.

Perhaps they are talking about this one though, I think its called a J rail, or a tear drop rail. A dragon tail looks like this
