  1. Kind of depends on what day it is and what time you go. There have been a few great days lately, and a few horrible ones. Today was kind of so so, but things firmed up a little bit and the night riding was actually pretty good. You can't really go wrong with cruising, because Nile Mile is never bad, only crowded.

    Elk or Hunter

Hunter feels like a huge mountain. I went there in the very early season, and was amazed at how tall the mountain felt. 600 feet is pretty significant in terms of vertical. Though, I hear Elk is supposed to be a WONDERFUL mountain. Out of convenience and word of mouth I would stick to Elk.
  3. Thats great to hear! Keep up the good work Adam, and SKI FAST
  4. Camelback sunday eh? Maybe I'll see you there.
  5. We are not against freedom of speech, we aren't trying to censor anyone. The topic was locked due to lack of meaningful content, it just became meaningless bickering. All sides stated their views, in some cases multiple times, and there really wasn't new info coming from the thread, just hate.
  6. Yeah, but it beats no snow at all, or even worse rain. The fact we are getting fresh SOFT stuff regardless of how slow, or wet is really nice.

    Weekend

Well, it wasn't just the crowds. Any lift ticket for me right now is financially not a great idea. I figured I could justify it by how great elk is supposed to be as a mountain, and at the same time cheer for adam. I didn't expect the crowds to be that bad, and there are some other factors I don't really want to get into right now. If my funds were unlimited I would be there no doubt, but I'm a poor college kid, so like I said I will be there in spirit.

    Weekend

Hmm, I thought I might be able to head up this weekend, cheer adam on, then get some riding in... Looks like thats not gonna happen, not worth what little money I have to swim through people. Well my I'll be there in spirit adam, just KILL KILL KILL!
  9. Alright, now that we have heard from everyone I think this thread is about done.
  10. No, we only planned one for each major mountain represented by our members. So the official pasr days are pretty much done for the year, although, lots of members ride regularly at their home mountains. So if you go to blue, cb, big boulder or montage your probably going to meet up with someone. I don't know if we have any bear creek regulars on the board, but there are a few people who like to visit bear creek, so if you leave a post, you may get lucky and find some people to ski with.
  11. Yeah, but that wasn't one run. That was 8. Also its not fair to compare old races. Sure he didn't ski as well in the past, who cares. He skied better than you tonight. You talk about his suit but didn't you cork pure flouro. And yes, you do want to put him down, it makes you feel better about yourself. Want to really prove your the better man in all this, just admit a 10 y.o. beat you fair and square, and that he has tremendous talent, way more talent than you have.
  12. Are we having fun yet
  13. Or anyone who has connections and can get me a free ticket up there.
  14. Yeah, I would have to say, we have been getting pretty decent snow storms lately. Sure the beginning of the season was slow, but we've been having real nice days.
  15. Eh, probobly not this weekend dude. Also I have no cash, if if Derrick can hook me up with a comp ticket than things are more likely, but till then I don't know if I will make it up there again this year.
  16. Ahh, now it makes sense.
  17. Nope, mountains don't hold a continuous pitch, especially not stuff around here. Though I would argue we're hardly on mountains, more like glorified hills. Regardless multiple headwalls are pretty natural, if your riding on a super smooth even pitch run, it is either a special case, or it was graded as such. Main Street, at blue is about the most consistent pitch of anything I can think of in the area, and its Isn't exactly super consistent.
  18. So lets get this straight... you like white lightning but not headwalls. Thats all white lightning is. And as far as natural features that about as natural as it gets... what would you call a natural feature?

    Need help!

Well, can't help you with the trip. However, I can help you find the spell check button, it is just below the text box you type in. Feel free to click it before posting, so we can all easily read what you have just posted.
  20. Thats good, I wasn't looking for an argument, just had felt I had some things to say. Also good to know someone who knows a little bit more about the racing scene didn't tear apart things I said, I guess I have a reasonable grasp of things
  21. I should preface this by saying I am no expert, these are just my observations. It seems to me any handicap system would be faulty. Even from what I understand of the more serious racing "leagues" (not sure if thats correct terminology, but oh well), there is a system to try to make a meaningful comparison between a race at mountain A on a icy december day and a race at mountain B on powder day in february. The point isn't whether or not the system is perfect, the point is whether the organization is making REASONABLE efforts to make them as close to a flawless system as possible. I understand that to you (ski999) the importance of re-pacing the coarse isn't important. I also understand that you feel that a medal is important as a motivating factor for kids (maybe adults too as well. You feel this way in spite of the fact that is "just for fun." Likewise, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect other people to feel that a properly paced (or re-paced) coarse is important for their own gratification. Even when you play basketball "just for fun" with friends, you still keep score, because it gives focus to the game. Sure its cool to track your own improvement (shots/assists/etc), but its also real good to know you beat someone. All this in mind, Ridge IS #1 in the state, he raced the coarses according to the rules/policies laid down by NASTAR. So in NASTAR Ridge is #1 in state, that doesn't mean he is necessarily the best racer in the state in his age group, but likewise it doesn't mean he isn't. I like to believe cream rises to the top. So congratulations to Ridge and keep up the good work. Alright I'll shut up now and let people who know what they are talking about speak.
  22. Conditions were REALLY nice sat, too bad the crowds were so bad, worse than pres. weekend .
  23. Well, I'm not much of one to spend a lot of time in the parks. Lately things have been looking better though. Things are actually being maintained, sure the overall setup still sux, but the park crew has been doing a great job with what they have been given. So to answer you question, the CONDITIONS have been pretty good. The lips have been solid, the landings have been as resonable as they are going to get, etc. Though the pipe should be cut more often, but oh well.
