  1. The people I know that have re-injured play come from backgrounds of football, volleyball, and skiing. Snowboarding is much easier on the knees than skiing, so you can't compare the two. For the most part, your knees don't have a lot of side to side movement when strapped into a snowboard, which is where acl/mcl injuries come from. Also pros are going to be willing to travel to find the best medical personnel to operate since it is their livelihood on the line. I'm not saying re-injury is definite, just saying it's not a freak case, and its possible after surgery. So its one of those things you want to be carefully about.

    The rant

Ok, my quick rebutal. Lines: They get long (just like anywhere, probobly worse since there was race but w/e). The key, just like anywhere is knowing how to work them. The way blue's quad lifties move the ques through, you are better riding single or as anything but a group of two. The double lift lines move rather quickly, but then you are waiting for a while. I certainly would consider taking the doubles at blue before the double at CB. Though the triples at CB I take if I'm riding park or raceway, but thats a different story. Conditions: They usually are a little worse than CB but not by a whole lot. As far as the death cookies everywhere, I haven't seen that as a trend, so again I think you got unlucky on the days you have gone. Lodge: If you want a nice real lodge, go to the top, bottom line. The bottom one is more of a cafeteria/rest stop/thing. As far as getting from quad to lodge, its really the same at CB if you are riding the other side of the mountain. Its only an extra lift ride, no hiking needed. As you said though, ski/ride what you like. I have fun at both places, I think blue is a little better, but CB is closer. Hopefully soon I can give my opinion on montage .
  3. I don't know about that. I know lots of people with same knee multiple injuries even after surgery. Maybe technology/techniques have improved since they got their work done, but its more than a "freak" case, like I said I know LOTS of people. Also, if people are just as good after the surgery, then why the brace? I think the key is understanding you had an injury, and it could happen again and being careful with it.
  4. If you made it on sat then my bro would be there as well.

    PA Cup @ Blue

Yes, I am eager to hear what Adam has to say about blue. I ride all day there, not just the mornings, but I think it holds up pretty well all day, not really much different than CB.
  6. My day was beautiful until I hurt myself around 10:30. I spent the rest of the day lounging about in the dorm. The snow was pretty decent, and certainly groomed well. I didn't even have a problem with crowds at the quads. Nothing more than a 3 min wait at most. For the first hour and a half it was ride lifts.
  7. We got the runs? WOW, I haven't seen that but, it sounds like an ad for a bad mexican resturant rather than a mountain. Could someone snap a pic for me, that would be great.
  8. That was from sib's first post, and what I was refering to with the closed next season thing.
  9. I witnessed one of the funnier incidents dealing with leashes in the park today. The dad is taking his kid through the park, who knows why, but we all know it happens. The funny part is the dad gets distracted watching people do a hit, and his kid falls, and he doesn't realize it, and runs right over the kid. The kid, being a kid and all, got right up and was ready to keep skiing, but it was just pretty amazing that the dad was the negligent. Later we saw him dropping his kid into the pipe which consisted of him holding the leash as the kid teater tottered on the lip, then letting go of the leash and the kid face planting. At least the kid took off before the dad dropped in, and tried to ride the walls of the pipe. He was actually a competent skier (for his age anyways) so I'm not really sure why he was on a leash in the first place.
  10. Yeah the bra tree is most definetely still there. There is a tree further up the lift ride that has just one shirt or something, in it. That is probably what you thought was the bra tree.
  11. Yes, I'm a little scared that its warm like this, in early february. I think it may be bad news for the length of the spring season at CB. They are pretty lame about closing to start with, but not having stock piles to push around after losses may mean an extra early closing. I guess we can't complain too much though, considering how lousy its been out west. It's real bad to hear some places probobly won't be reopening next season due to a weak year.
  12. So how do the mountains compare with your home mountain? Which was your favorite mountain to ski/ride at. If you were to take another trip to the poconos, where would spend the most time? I'm interested to hear the less partial "outsiders" opinion on the mountains. Also for clarification are you saying the double blacks at blue are overated in difficulty or in hype factor. I'm assuming difficulty since you say razors was "fun-fun-fun," but I just want to check.

    CB expansion?

The white areas moving from top to bottom are the trails. It's just a topo map not a trail map. Its kinda cool to see how the trails changed though. If you look birches used to be a top to bottom run that stayed to skiiers left of meadows. Lots of other real narrow twisting trails through the middle too.

    golf clubs

I mountain bike over the summer, keeps me pretty busy, I ride almost every day. Its a good work out, and the season goes as long as you want it to. I could be biking now if I wasn't such a weenie about biking when its cold, and so busy with snowboarding and the cold.

Any word on how he did today? Again good luck to him for tommorow (sun)!
  16. I'm heading up first thing tommorow. I shall give it a look. Maybe even try to talk some ladies into offering a sacrifice
  17. No dude, it was there yesterday. I really think you just missed. They didn't have time to cut it down between yesterday and today, and why would they want to?
  18. Not really sure about the bear creek pass. I'm almost positive he won't have to foot the bill for the lawyers/court, his parents have some cash and are more than willing to help him "through this time in his life." I think the messed up part is they will help him out with lawyers fees but not foot the bill for the season pass in the first place. Oh, well, not my kid.
  19. Speaking of theft of services... my buddy made a fake pass for CB. He photoshopped something and glued it to the back of his bear creek pass. He was skiing off the marked trail over a building (not quite sure where it is), and when he popped back on the trail, 3 rangers were just standing there. They were pretty mad then they asked for his pass, he refused to give it up because obviously it was fake. So when they looked at it closer, it started to peel. So then more rangers showed up. They escorted him to the bottom of the mountain where there were security guys waiting for him, and shortly there after, some cops arrested him. Right now he is looking at theft of services and something to do with making the fake pass like "dublication of trademark" or some garbage like that. Moral of the story, just buy a pass, and if your not going to do that, don't get pulled over.

    CB expansion?

Hmm, I could have sworn some threads back on the official CB mb that claimed CB owned what used to be big pocono ski area. I know the top of the mountain and to the west of CB (past the housing) is state game land, but didn't know it came around to the east of CB as well.

    rail pics

Nothing holds the rails together, they just sit in the 2x4's and the way the holes are it forces the rails together. I'm sure if we ever came down on it wrong, and an edge slipped in there it would be bad news for the rail, and for who ever gets their leg twisted in it.

    Thursdays

I came in around 7:30, and some people said it was busy before I got there, but the whole time I was there, it wasn't too bad.

    Thursdays

I thought tonight was awsome. The trails were EMPTY. You should have found some natural features. The snow was just about as good as it gets here. I did a bunch of runs on the asp and it was beautiful, with a little bit of a lip on the head wall that could really throw you over the mountain.
  24. Find a section of tree's real close to the lift. Buy lots of bras/panties/etc, and throw them into the tree. Once you get a dozen or so, I think everyone else picks up on it. The key is finding the right location.

    Boxes

But we have the same problem if we 50-50 and are in between the rails, I know what stickyness you are talking about, it seems almost all boxes are like that. Like I said though, speed makes all the difference.
