Yeah, but all the moutains have woods jk Actually, haven't checked them out yet, to busy riding.
-
Is this the one at the top of sidewinder or the one in the bottom park. If sidewinder, how long is it now?
-
Don't know hwy everyone has the problems with smoke at blue, I have never noticed smoke in their lodge, top or bottom.

As far as the park goes, I don't even care that it's not super huge. Just build it right. Make the jump porportional to the landings. Better yet have landings. Put rails on tables. Change the way to enter the parks. They seem pretty permanant, get wider openings and not that net garbage. It just adds to the mess of everyone sitting around. This is a thread to talk about good things so here goes. As much as everyone grips about crowds, CB has WAY more people skiing riding there, than any other area around here. They deal nicely considering how large the crowds are they deal with. Because the mountain is wide, even on a busy day, the crowds are dispersed among the trails, and you can find empty ones if you choose to. I think the grooming of the trails is very good at CB, I only wish they would do mid-day grooming. I like the walk on parking by the stevenson, though if you don't have a car/season pass, that doesn't help you. I like that hot ski patrol chic I saw last night, if anyone has a name, that would be clutch. They have some cool natural features if you know where to look.

Nope he was just taking laps, I followed him for a couple, just to see if he would do anything else outrageous. As far as the directing traffic, increasing the ski patrol size would make up for the directing traffic, etc. Ski patrol makes things safe, rangers are there to clip tickets. I've never felt more safe with a ranger around.

10 piece what length? Each pipe was like 7 bucks. Then the 2x4's ate into the cash, and we bought some other stuff that I don't think we used, so the actual price is actually lower, just don't remember exactly.
-
Ok a little more description on what you are looking at. The rail was built using two 10ft metal wiring conduits. The ends were bent with a pipe bender and the base was made out of 2x4's with holes drilled that the pipes slide into. The conduit wasn't quite strong enough to support someone without bending, so the wood pictured in pics 1 and 3 had to be added. After the bending it ended up being about 8 feet long, and maybe a foot tall with no snow around it. The cool thing is it can be set on top of the snow and still be stable (as long as the wood supports don't sink). This was all done for around $30 not counting the equipment needed (pipe bender, drill, ride to home depot). It slides pretty well as long as you land flat. We cut it a few times with our edges landing a little too far forward on board slides, but nothing a good old file won't take care of. Which reminds me, we had to file it before we rode it the first time, because it wasn't nearly smooth enough to slide when we bought it. If you are looking to setup a home jib this was real easy and a lot of fun.

Eh, it depend on what day it is. If its really cold out, snow and ice and what not will get up on the box and just sit, which speeds it up alot. Also if you keep up on the rails of the box you move so much faster rather than the middle of it.

Dude lighters are under a buck. You can get matches for free at just about any place that sells cigarettes. There is no need to use a torch.

Ok, so another GREAT ranger encouter happened today. I was kinda taken back by it but here goes. I've just come off of rhodo and am making my way over to the stevenson. I look back for my buddy, and see the ski patrol, but hes maybe 100 yards away, and I'm almost at the lift. I get to the lift and turn to start down the shot, and who comes flying in cutting me off but the ranger. He had so much speed he almost hit the chair in front of him, and snowplowed to stop using the entire loading area. He then casually makes his way up and sits down. The even was so absurd I didn't know what to do but look at the liftie who was laughing real hard, and staring in amazment at the ranger. It wasn't even so much that someone did this, because I've been cut off before, its the fact that it was a ranger, and I could have easily been clipped for doing the same to him. Oh, well it was good for a laugh.

Yeppers that was me with it tied around my arm. It was a little to snowy and small to wear it normally. I wanted to tuck it in a pocket and be cool like the guys with the hankerchiefs, but it was a little too long, and I thought it may be hazardeous oif it got caught on the edge of my board.
-
Hehe, be carefull now. So did you ever mod that glue gun or just open it up? For the work I've just been using a lighter, but I'm hoping to have a better method.
-
Oh come on, the litter is fun, what else do you have to jump over? Plus as skidude can attest to, I picked up some stylish gear that was dropped from the lift and just laying out for at least 6 runs at the bottom of marjies.

I would agree with you but... I can't say I've been treated any differently at any place I have gone in the poconos. As for sibs comment it was the same at Hunter. Not sure what the difference is between the large corporation and the small one. It may be nothing at all, it may have more to do with the general attitude of the people in the area.
-
Thats what I was getting at, its a lot easier to slow down than speed up if you are on a flat. You speed check to much coming up to anything in that lower park and you are screwed. With a little bit more pitch the slope will make up for you error.
-
I wouldn't call it a major problem. How many times has anyone person been involved with police officers, but they get a bad rap as well. The only difference is police keep you safe, so you are more willing to give them respect. The rangers are just given free skiing privalages to look for people whos ticket they can clip.

I think this board (me included) are a little harsh on CB. They really aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. I would agree Blue is better, but I wouldn't say don't go to camelback at all. They have some decent trails, depending on the day they have better conditions that blue (though blue has mid day grooming). There are more trails at CB, (By this I mean more actual trails not just the number of trails, but the possibilities. Blue feels like it has about half as many trails as CB. I know the numbers are close, but its more about how trails are named and the possible combinations used to get down the mountain. CB food is overpriced, but what resort doesn't have over priced food. I can't say it was even that bad, though lots of people disagree. As far as ticket prices, for a student, it was only a few dollars difference between CB and Blue. I could go on, and on, about how CB isn't as bad as this board makes them out. The mountain has a bad image because of the history of this board, and the mountain. That being said, their are good rangers, there are bad rangers. The bad ones make all rangers look bad, and quite frankly I don't want to find out the hard way, the ranger I decide to fly past (in full on an appropriate trail) is the bad ranger. I just slow down, smile, and wave. The bottom line is, it's a problem, but if I had a choice between spending the day riding at CB or taking the day off, there is no way I'm taking a day off because of rangers, managment, food, ticket prices, vert etc. But thats just me. The difference between CB and other areas is a lot more marginal than this board makes it out to be.

Hmm that will be interesting. There is such a problem getting speed through that park as it is. I can't imagine trying to have the right speed to hit a c-box, it will be interesting to see how that one works out.
-
Yeah, lots of hot girls work at the CB, although I hear more work at bear creek. Anyways, the crowds died down around 3 or so, and at 5 the place really emptied out (as it does every sun night). They mountain was really really beat, with the stupid roller moguls everywhere from too much traffic. I enjoy them, because they are fun to boost speed off of, or double or triple them, I just hate the noobs that eat it over them and create havoc on the trails.
-
If you were talking about a freeriding experience I would be behind you all the way, but as far as park, the above isn't as much of an issue. From the things I've heard BC's park beats Blue hands down, but I haven't seen it for myself, so I don't want to be the one to pass judgement.

I couldn't have said it better. Respect gets respect. Not every 15 y.o. is a punk. Why are all 15 y.o. treated as if they were punks?
-
If you show up on time, it won't be an issue now will it?
-
Indeed show up at 9. We had some problems last time with people not showing up on time *cough* gurp and nitro *cough*. Atomic is very impatient, and I don't think we will be waiting long for stragglers.

Well, then I just kick on the high's. However, I replaced the good one about 4 months back, so it should be good for a while. Next to go will be the highs, but I'm hoping to have new car by then.
