You didn't kill/mame him? Not even turn him into security .

I saw a bunch of snowmakers today, where you one of them. The group I saw had a guy with a flamingo hat.

Ok, so for those of you who weren't out today, don't fret because conditions were lousy. It was so cold and windy, I actually caved in and bought a face mask for $20. There was some powder here and there, but nothing grand. Some icey spots, but not enough to make up for the super slow stuff everywhere. Then there was the wind. I was at blue, and took a run down challange. Now, I had to skate my way to the top of the hill. Then when I'm ready to go, I make my way to the steep part of the first headwall. I'm pointed straight down the hill, but standing up arms out, just to check how bad the wind was. So to recap pointed staight down the hill on the steep part of challange, I was stopped dead in my tracks. I actually used the wind to control my speed since it was just a sheet of ice. I pointed straight down and put my arms out and stood to slow down, and pulled them in and tucked to go faster. It was kinda fun/funny, but not exactly ideal.

Ok, I was in the park today, and it was indeed bad. For those of you who don't know here is the deal, the drop down rail is still there, but the lip up to it is REALLY bad, the surronding hit/jump whatever it is, is also bad (it's chopped out small, icey, eneven). The rollers, were there but kinda weird. The battleship had the same problems as the drop down rail. There were a few hips which will be nice, but aren't anything to jump up and down about yet. The wall was gone. The flat down was gone. The jump after the hippo was longer, but the snow wasn't fast enought to clear it, and if you did, it was icey. I may have missed some stuff, but basically the park was in decent shape during the PASR day. I'm not sure what happened, but lots of stuff is gone, and what is there is in poor shape. The terrain run, also was in sad shape, although I had fun on the rollers .

Well even some bike locks are breakable. There was a massive recall on the U shaped bike locks this summer because the lock could be picked with a ball point pen. Just research a little on locks, and get a decent one. They aren't expensive, just find one that will do its job.
-
Why, what specifically is wrong with it?
-
Is 30th good/bad/indifferent.

Welcome, glad to see some more people out of the poconos joining.
-
Eh, my friend got his lock clipped at big boulder a few years back. He was inside for 5 min at most. They never found the guy and it was a brand new board. It really dosn't look that weird if your really close to the lock, like close enough to hide the wire cutters you would need. Also it doesn't look that wierd if it take a little bit of time for you to get the lock cut, because it takes a little time to unlock a lock. The key is get a thick lock that needs something like a bolt cutter to cut it.
-
Your link is broken, but yeah, locks are a no brainer investment. I have a decent one, I'm sure someone could cut it if they had something big, but like you said it's a deterant. I just want the robber to go to the next board, I don't need an inpeneratrable fortress around my board.

people with passes from other mtns. get $10 off
Glenn replied to Sno Mountain Skier's topic in Montage Mountain
Do they have a college student discount? I can't imagine it would be better than $10 off, but I was just wondering. -
Hmm, I could have sworn he said they didnt have much more vert than blue, but anyways. You are probobly right about the conditions as well, but we can still pretend we are having a better time than Jeff
-
*insert joke about the size of jeff's manhood here* Yeah, its kinda funny, because he was saying that alta doesn't have a lot of vert, and it doesn't have high speed chairlifts, and the chair lifts it does have don't have foot rests. So the only thing they have over us, is type of terrain and conditions, and we may have them beat for conditions this week.

Nothing like digging up old threads. Oh well, I'm riding a 2 year old k2 spitfire with salomon boots and bindings. I'm contemplating a new board and bindings though. Both are just about shot.
-
Sorry, had to link it snowmaking faq
-
Yeah, I would actully prefer to not have snow at my house, or a limited amount, but a ton at the moutain. Driving in the snow blows, so I'd much rather enjoy the riding benefits and skip the driving hassle.
-
If the snow isn't too bad, I will make the trek up to montage tommorow. We shall see. I am eager to see what all the hype about white lightning is, and check out the other blacks as well.
-
Do I sense a Jeff bash . You are right though, blue made good out of a bad situation. Its was certainly cheaper paying a few guys to do the check in check out, and setup the area than pay a bunch of partially effective security guys.

I love how the kid striaght up tells the undercover guy that he stole the board. It's sweet he got the board back. I know lots of people who aren't as lucky. Even some people who locked their equipment got it stolen. I don't understand the whole keeping the board thing either, except that I know there are certain rules about not tampering with evidence. The price of the board may be a factor, and if for instance, the bindings were swapped for the actual court case, so $700 bindings, then it may change from a lower theft charge to a higher one, because the value of the stolen item. Just a guess though. Still sucks he loses his board. I really would have thought about letting the kid go, just so I could ride. Then agian, I don't have a backup.

I thought the first hit was awsome. It didn't send you far, but it put you up in the air. For once CB did there landing right. I was out for a couple of weeks last year when they had the table in the middle large, but the second one I thought was much bigger than I saw it last year. Height, distance, everything. Sure there could be more features in there, but it was the first day open, and there is still lots of work they are going to do supposedly (I rode with a park crew guy tonight). Anyways, the point is, they actually were decent sized jumps, and the landings weren't retarded, like most of the jumps CB makes.
-
Things were still better than normal this evening, but there was more alot more ice than yesterday. If you found the right areas, you could still ride some nice powder today. A few places there was a foot plus, real snow not blown. It was just a matter of finding the correct edge of the trail, and hugging the tree line.
-
Thats my point, on the weekends you are at CB. During the week elsewhere. Not trying to make fun of you at all, just saying you reap the benenfit of the weekender crowd preference that CB has moreso than someone who is there during the week and not at all on the weekends.
-
The sweet thing is the mountain will definetly be 100% for the pasr day at CB.

Ok, just had to say that it was amazing tonight. I got up there at 6:15 and rode till close. It was the best snow I've ever ridden (though I haven't ridden anything outside the east coast and only as north as hunter preseason this year). Anyways, there was tons of powder everywhere. A few trails were scraped off, but nile was beautiful, raceway was full of these huge piles of snow that just exploded when you went through them, pretty much any green cruiser was to die for. The blacks had big fluffy piles of snow, but a little to much ice between them for me to think it worth while to ride them. Big pocono opened yesterday, and from what I hear sucked, but it was fantastic today. I know a lot of people probobly didn't want to go out in the weather, but it was so worth it. I hope a few others were able to enjoy the wonderful conditions. Oh, and btw it was really empty, not that I expected it to be crowded, but there was hardly any one there. Awsome night. It's going to be hard to beat this one.
-
It was deep in piles at CB. The best riding I have ever done it PA. It was so fluffy. I actually had to think about floating my board through the stuff. I felt invinisible off little bumps, becuase you couldn't even feel it when you landed, the snow was that soft.
