  1. Back to the topic. Prolly be there Sunday am. Great not having to drive to Vermont for early season.
  2. Elk is a fun mountain, but I would limit it to 2 days. The problem is no place to really stay close, unless you want to stay in a bed and breakfast, or a small kinda crappy motel. Their slow lifts don't bother me, kind of goes along with the feel of the place. The restaurant/ bar is pretty good, and prices are reasonable, but I think they are only open in the evening. Oh, and don't duck ropes, or ski in the trees unless its one of your last runs. Ski patrol gets a little upset.
  3. Haha, same thing happened to me last year while we were at Mt Snow. Pretty awkward when you are with your 18 year old daughter. I was hoping she slept thru it, but we had a pretty good laugh about it the next day.
  4. Just sending my money in today- hope its not too late.
  5. Got the FKS's online, backcountry.com I think. They were recommended to me after I tore ACL by someone who I feel knows a lot about gear. Bear Creek will mount them. Ask for Finelli, not sure if I am spelling his name right.
  6. Why wouldn't insurance cover that? If medical personnel treating the injured person feel it is necessary, then the insurance company should pay. Medivac helicopters are not flown at the drop of a hat! I think when my family member was medivaced, we only owed them about $100.00. I think we got a bigger bill from the ambulance that transported her to the area where the helicopter landed!
  7. My daughter and all her friends never put the bar down, it drives me crazy. Most people I've ridden up with don't mind when you put the bar down, as long as you give them plenty of warning. I've gotten clocked in the head by the bar, and it is annoying.
  8. Buckman's Boulder Bash Saturday. Bear on Sunday.
  9. Yes, the volcano slide does look like fun. Not sure how many water parks are needed around here, hope it works out for them.
  10. Thanks for the info, I think we'll reschedule.
  11. So, we are thinking about going up to Elk Saturday, Feb. 16. How crowded does Elk get on a holiday weekend? I've only ever been there during the week. Unfortunately, with work schedules is not an option this year. I can handle a little crowded, but does it get as bad as Bear or Blue on a weekend afternoon?
  12. Toast let me know how much you want for them. I would be interested in 2 of them, and my son said he might be interested in the other 2.
  13. I'd love to buy them, since I just used my last one today. Pretty sure they're non transferable.
  14. Kickapoo, my favorite trail in NE Pa.
  15. Wonder if it has anything to do with the economy? I've noticed lift tickets have really gone up everywhere. It can't be cheap to take a family skiing for the day, especially if you don't have your own equipment.
  16. I tore my ACL last year too. I have skied a lot this year with the brace, doesn't ever seem to get in my way. Don't use underarmour, usually wear sweats with snow pants, so brace fits under that. I was a bit apprehensive the first time I skied, but got over that quickly! Have fun!
  17. What is the mountain coaster? Didn't make it to Camelback last year, and kids have outgrown Camelbeach, so didn't go there this summer, either.
  18. All Winter does is complain about how much better he could run both areas. To get back to the topic, Bear opens tomorrow, hope everybody has fun, as that is really what its about.
  19. NH is a great place to ski. Next time you go try Wildcat.
  20. Curmudgeon. Blah, blah, blah. You're always complaining about Elk, too.
  21. Well whatever, who cares if it was a goof. I am sure Bear is making money off weddings and other activities. It's great that people have a place to ride that is close to home. Great place for younger people to hang out and get to ride.
  22. Last year I purchased 6 tickets for Blue for $100 here. I think it was thru a ski club. Does anybody have any info on that. Thanks.
  23. I think they did pretty well in terms of snowmaking this year, considering the weather. I guess its hard to convince people to go skiing when it is raining and 40 degrees half the winter! i don't think any place in NE PA was as busy as usual.
  24. Looks great. What is miss superpark? Can't find it mentioned on the website. Might make it worth a trip out there at the end of the season.
  25. I've been following this story since her accident. So sad. I read an article about her awhile back, and she sounded like a genuinely nice person. My heart goes out to her family
