  1. This is probably a good year for them, not much rain. They are not all watery. We've had some really great ones from the farm we buy stuff from. Tried to grow them once and they were awful. We might try again next year. Next year not doing corn. It was delicious, but the squirrels made a mess out of it. They can't just take an ear and eat it. Gotta take a bite out of each ear. Bastards. We actually have some blackberries this year. I thought the birds would get them.
  2. 12,000 year in school taxes?? In Allentown?? That is obscene. Worse than what my mom pays in Jersey.
  3. Why are Allentown taxes so high?
  4. Mateys in Hellertown? I think they closed. Sign outside says thanks for everyone's patronage. Looked empty last time I went by. Are you talking Allentown or Saucon Valley or Center Valley taxes? Yes, we still have lots of open space around us, and I do like that.
  5. Hamilton Township. Just outside Trenton. Area was pretty nice, open, farms and woods when I was growing up. Now there's not an empty space to be found. And I don't know how anyone affords the property taxes.
  6. Yeah, you're probably right. I just find it really hard to kill something we are not going to eat. I did read recently squirrel meat is really good for you. Very lean. Yuck, like eating a rat.
  7. That is hilarious. I grew up in NJ. Wouldn't move back if you paid me.
  8. The squirrels are getting some of our sunflowers. They must climb up and take the whole flower. I'm finding half eaten ones all over the yard! Little f@ckers. The yellow finches are all over them too, but they don't destroy the flowers, just eat the seeds.
  9. Wow. That is cool.
  10. You should be ok going away since all your plant are pretty well established. We are definitely getting drip tape next year. We were going to get this past spring, but ran out of cash after ski season and Arizona. We have a well, and I always worry about it when it gets this dry.
  11. The potatoes look great. How long do they keep and do have anywhere special to store them?
  12. 2nd batch of beets and decided to grow corn this year. Surprised the corn is delicious
  13. Today is much nicer. Less humid. Could actually work outside
  14. Wow. Used to take my kid up to Park 1260 years ago. Was interesting set up and fun to watch. We also went to Liberty Mountain snow flex around 5 years ago. Tow rope there kicked my butt! Kinda weird to ski down wet carpet at night with heat lightning flashing in the background. Fun times.
  15. We haven't had much rain here. I know it's been spotty, always seems to skip around us. We have had beets, carrots, basil, cilantro. Our tomatoes and peppers a little behind. Started them late because we were in Az. I like to grow zinnias, too. They are finally starting to bloom. We are a bunch of hippies. Is that okay? Yes, we have come to appreciate the tops in a salad. They have to be young
  16. Composting is great. We don't use any chemicals or fertilizer in our gardens. If you have oak trees add the leaves to your compost in the fall.
  17. . If you're using GPS on your phone and you're using the on with the voice on they can still give you a ticket?
  18. So you just wash and freeze whole leaves? I read the leaves turn black when you freeze them.I wouldn't care as long as flavor didn't change.
  19. Does anyone on here grow basil? We have a lot, and drying it in a food dehydrator. Not sure if that's the way to go. Seems like it's taking a long time to dry.
  20. Mmmm. We've already eaten all of ours. Planted more.
  21. Maybe that's why the Starks are my favorite family in this series
  22. Mmmm. Ours are doing well. Roasted some on grill the other night. Delicious.
  23. I guess we don't have to worry about vampires
  24. The books were great. Except the last one had me a little lost. The series is now past the last book. Did get to see some of the series early on.
  25. Our kids didn't have cable. We still don't have it. I'm amazed at what people pay for TV.
