  1. I go 80 - 33 - 78 - 287 - 18 - tpk so I usually will hit someplace along 33. There are a bunch of fast food places there.
  2. Hi All Anyone know of a share in a rental at CB?? Preferably as close to the mountain as possible.
  3. Wrong wrong wrong!!!!!! That would be 2 busted ass packing crates with nails sticking out of them buried in the snow. They still need more rusy pipes too don't forget.
  4. Yeah more like 30 or so. I think it will be deeper and longer next year. It was kind of beat that Anna was the only girl to do a run in a bathing suit. Funny thing is that she was saying how cold she was afterwards as I'm standing there soaking wet. She didn't get a drop of water on her.
  5. Yah let's turn off all those lights. I think they should turn out all the lights above all the streets and highways since we already have lights on our cars. And we can throw out all our lamps in our houses since we can carry flashlights. I hear they are going to make all the employees at CB park over in Stroudsburg and they are going to ferry them in with helicopters so that people can show up at 10:30 and park right next to the lodge. Oh let's go skiing but don't do anything strenuous before like, gasp, walking from a parking lot. While your at it could you replace all the pictures on the dollar bill with mine. I think that is just as important a thing to do and it would really make me feel special. Like when I used to get my own little special bus to school. Stop crying about the damn parking and lights already. Every other thread is the same nonsense, parking sucks, management doesn't listen to me, why don't they stay open from October 1st til June 1st, they leave lights on all night and my pet rock can't sleep, my park has more rusty pipes sticking out of the ground than yours, how come they don't blow snow 24/7, how come the runs aren't 2 miles long and have sick vert, how come all these rude people come here and go to the top of the mountain and can't ski, why don't we have park passes so that we'll never have someone who can't ride well in the park, WTF?? Might as well start whining about there not being any blue food. There are changes coming to CB. The attitude of the mountain is changing for the better but you have to give them a chance. People are working to make it a better ski area. Really. Customer service and skier/rider development seem to be the themes of the "new regiem" if you will. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because next year will be better. Then you can tell everyone, "They gave us all personal parking spaces and headlamps to wear while night skiing because I told them to."
  6. I did it. It was fun but I'm definitely going to drink HEAVILY beforehand next year. The water wasn't that bad but it got cold fast standing around after the splash. The guy in the toboggan was the head of the mountain. Sean was driving it. The funniest part was that after the tobobban sank all the way down Sean just walked out and left him there for a minute. 7. Stewarts root beer rocks!!! I used to drink that all the time when I wasn't drinking beer. (Had to stay sober for work and exams) The rest of the time I would drink whatever was around. Had a girlfriend in school that liked that Purple Passion stuff which was basically grape soda and Everclear and they sold it in 2 liter bottles. I never touched it. Especially after I had to carry her drunk a$$ home and she yacked on me. Bud and Bud Light always give me the Bud Squats. Also get headaches from a few different beers whenever I touch them but Miller Light has never done me wrong. If I don't feel like drinking something heavy I always go for that. I have a lot of friends that drink Corona and I buy that when I'm hanging with them but I'd rather have a Modelo if I'm drinking a Mexican beer.
  8. Thanks!!!!!! It's the one person that says thanks that makes up for all the headaches!!! Actually most of the people this year have been pretty cool and we have been hearing it more. Yeah we get to ski for free when working and cut in line but we also have to spend a couple weekends in the off season for training and keeping our certs up to date. The majority of patrollers are volunteers too and we pay to belong to the ski patrol. The training never stops and if you ever want to get in shape try learning how to handle a toboggan. It will be 12 degrees out and I'll be sweating like crazy. We also get to deal with people cursing us out because the East side closes early. (I hate having to chase people off trails because I want to ski every run a million times when I'm not at work but it's part of the job) The occasional runaway ski or board that comes flying down the hill at you why you are sitting there trying to splint someone with a busted arm or leg is always fun. Not to mention trying to walk in the woods or on the icy part of the run with ski boots on to get to someone. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Nothing better than to see the look on somebodys face as they realize that they are going to be OK and knowing that you were the one that helped them. You won't see it but sometimes we get really worried when we see something bad. When we hear from someone that they are doing OK or recovering it is awesome. I would be remiss not to give props to the people who come up to us when someone uphill is hurt, or let us jump in the lift line to get on top to drag a toboggan down or to bring one up, or get out of the way when they hear a whistle. Also people who take one for the team and stop when someone is hurt and make sure nobody runs into them. The deal with the kid stuck on the lift in the terrain park was a great example of everyone pulling together You , the public, the mad peeps, are the reason why we are there. When you help us you are, in effect, one of us and when we aren't working we are one of you. Thanks again!!
  9. Hey I wondered what happend to all the bamboo that was put on the Asp. Freakin ski ninjas!!! We use them for training how to stop the sled from sliding down the hill if you are on the tail rope. You and another guy stand along the fall line and one guy gets downhill and tries to pull you over. Speaking of training a candidate passed his Ski and Tobbogan training and per tradition brought in a case for after closing. It was Boddingtons. Never had it before and it was goooood! A younger candidate passed his too but brought in a case of Stewarts root beer. We used to get pulled over by the cops in college for drinking that because they saw the brown bottles and didn't realize it was root beer. I prefer Miller Light but enjoy a nice Harp, Guiness or Heineken now and then. Back in the day the low end was Old Swill or Busch. I remember going to Canals and buying cases of Steinlager for $7 too.
  10. Speaking of Asp they had the guns blasting from closing on Friday straight through until they opened it Sunday. I only got 1 run on it on Sunday and it was NICE!!!!! Later on it looked like there were some nice lines on it from the lift. Didn't see anyone on there that looked like they could ski them though. Looked like someone dumped a fish tank on the trail with all the flopping around going on. Totally my opinion but the rest of the mountain held up pretty well too with all the traffic. There were the usual areas of boilerplate but the sides were nice.
  11. Smart idea. It seems like the Glen Lodge is the best kept secret. Missed the pig roast on Sunday.
  12. Saturday was pure insanity from 11 until 7PM or so. Sunday it started around 10 and went until 8. Payback for the low crowds during NYE, Super Bowl, and MLK weekends I guess. The mountain really needed the business though. The slopes were not that packed at all until 11 or so both days. Seems like people were getting up there late and crowding up the parking lot and lodges instead of the runs. Sunday at 12:30 the west lodge cafeteria had lines that went out past the cashiers on both sides. Haven't seen that all season. The runs held up pretty well despite all the traffic. Sunday night it was pretty good night skiing. Anyone head out there yesterday?? How was the lot, lodge, and mountain? Wanted to get back out there myself but I was totally spent. Guess that's a good thing.
  13. I remember hearing about the guy with the beer box on his head. That was funny!! Last year a patroller lost an edge and went way into the woods. He took out a 4 foot tall pine tree. He was banged up but nothing serious. Someone went into the woods and brought the tree back into the patrol room and we made it our Christmas tree.
  14. I brought that blue liquid rub on wax that you can buy at the ski shop in the base lodge at Camelback. (Swix I think) It works really well for a few runs but then wears off.
  15. I know that when there is an accident the Rangers will stand uphill from it for traffic control and tell everyone comming down the hill to slow down. That's because people have gone flying out of control into an accident scene plenty of times. It sucks to have them yell at you no doubt but they are just looking out for the poor guy/girl that's hurt. Yeah sometimes you will be just bombing down a clear run in a tuck but be in control and get yelled at. That totally sucks. Some people think that it's a crime to ski fast at all. Don't ask me why.
  16. Ya think?? It may seem like it but I remember some trails at Stratton that were about the same width and they kept one side bumped and the other side groomed corderoy. (I know Stratton has like 10 times the terrain) They could have a strip along skiers left and keep the right side clear for the races. If it was bumped then people wouldn't wonder why it's a double D at least. With all this talk about moguls did anyone see the Olympics last night. Those bumps were perfect and they even marked them with pine boughs so they would stand out.
  17. Hopefully our killer snowmaking crew will be dumping lots of snow on both trails. Mad props to the snowmakers!!!!! They rule this year!!!!!! I wonder how it would be if Marjie's got bumped up?? Hey! Anyone been on Hump since they opened it up?? I wonder how it is and how it's holding up.
  18. There's always Camelback.
  19. Heard a rumor they were going to stop grooming Rocket. I assumed that meant they were going to let it get bumped up and then probably plow down Asp. Guess that didn't happen. Wouldn't be cool if they made one side of Cliff a bump run and groomed the rest???
  20. Camelback Beach Party Weekend is March 11 + 12
  21. You mean you don't like the double fall line on Asp??? Actually I think the lines are better on the Asp. The only thing is that there is a killer line on the left side that takes you to a sick dropoff. It was marked with a bamboo pole until late on Sunday when it disappeared. The bumps on Rocket didn't seem to have any really good lines at all to me. And the troughs were mostly just ice. At least the Asp has some snow in the troughs.
  22. LOL looks like someone lost a bet.
  23. Friday night Asp was nice!!!!!!!! It held up great until later on Sunday.
  24. Speaking of etiquette.... Some kid landed on his wrist after the last jump in the glade on Saturday. He's sitting there writhing in pain and while the rangers were yelling for people to stop. 2 people decide to hit the jump anyway. First one on skis was able to turn at the last second and barely avoid him. Second one on a board plowed right into the poor kids back. What ever happened to using a spotter for your landing?? I guess that's an "old school" idea. To make things even worse some idiot tries to outrun the sled when they are taking him off and almost runs into the guy in front. Are people that stupid??
  25. You mean like there are single women who are out of high school and not married that go to camelback????
