Do they open at 8 or 9? Either way I'll be looking for first chair.
-
So other than Phillycore and Me, are any other PASRs going to be at Frost tomorrow?
-
I've got a day off tomorrow, so I'll be hitting Frost in the AM to snag what is left in the glades.

I don't know if I'll get out to ride, we'll have to see. I'm heading to the store now though to buy 6 loaves of bread, 2 dozen eggs 20 gallons of fresh water and non perishable food.

I was up yesterday from 4 until about 830. The snow was pretty nice. Lower Fasttrack had some cookies on it, but it wasn't terrible. I didn't really hit any of the features in the park so I won't comment on them. The jump on Mainline was small but it wasn't terrible. Not a bad little thing to mess around on. Whitel Lightning was the run of the day. Big soft bumps of snow as pure as the FINEST COLOMBIAN, and between them was chalk that would make every 7th grade Social Studies teacher's mouth water. Great run, and right now only the top half is bumped.

can't do a trail report for Blue if they don't let you go out on snow
Schif replied to Robert2's topic in Blue Mountain
I can understand his concerns, but giving up on a mountain because of the lockers seems like a pretty petty thing. I get that you don't want your stuff taken so maybe don't bring as much to BLUE next time. Bring all the crap in the world you want to ELK or FROST but maybe just try to pack it better for BLUE? With the amount of pockets I know I have on my clothes I can't imagine needing a locker. Dressing like an astronaut is always a good idea, but for the most part you can leave the space peripherals on the launchpad. -
You can never have too much wax, just not enough (well you can have too much if you don't scrape it all but that's beside the point). I wax my board every 3 or 4 times out depending on how it is. When it comes to spring I might wax almost every time out because the wax gets worn away faster and each day is a different temperature. when it comes to hardcore tuning you probably want to take it to a good shop, but for just slapping some slippery stuff on, the investment is really minimal. A few bucks on a salvation army iron and then just the wax and a scraper. You can probably do the whole family's skis for the price of a single job from a shop if that's the route you want to take. Plus to me I find waxing to be pretty fun. Gets me to play with my gear off the hill a little bit and put on a good snowboard video in the background

Long haul would be cool as a HSQ but there isn't enough terrain top to bottom to really make that a good idea. Maybe if they expanded off to skier's right... But then again I love those woods and a trail would take away from them.

Lightning looks phenomenal. I'll be up in the next day or two when I get a little ahead on my work.

I'll agree that the view from Sno is pretty nice, especially at night. When you're night skiing you really don't get to see a whole lot of anything usually, but here you can get a cool view of Scranton and part of the valley, and I think its pretty cool to see the runway lights go on at the airport.

I can't remember the last time I heard a Sno mtn ad on the radio. Must have been early December, yet I'm constantly bombarded with Elk, JFBB, and Blue spots, and I listen to a ton of radio each day.

Incredible pictures. WP even without a lot of snow looks unbelievable.
-
Well now that its out I'll be up there on Wednesday this week. Anyone else?

Everyone seems to call snow something a little different and everyone on this board realizes why the Eskimeaux (Ben Franklin's spelling) have 100 words for it. I don't think there really needs to be a firm consensus on what we call different conditions as long as its understood. Whether I call the stuff at the end of the season "hip hop pocono slop" or "coarse grains of ice loosely suspended in a liquid medium" you know what its going to be like on the hill that day.

Sorry to hear that GSS. Def sending some positive vibes out west to combat the serious negative stoke. I'm sure you'll be good as new soon enough and couch skiing again!

Does sound like a good time. Who doesn't love free stuff?

This reminds me of the Louis Vuitton leather golf bags I see in the summer. Nothing says unnecessary spending like sacrificing quality for logos

THANK YOU I've been saying this for years but no one wants to believe me.

Glad you're finally getting out again Melissa! Hopefully I'll get up to Sno sooner rather than later and we can make some turns.

Crowds on WVIA day weren't terrible. I definitely parked a lot farther away than I have ever done at Elk and I got my first ride on the Elk Wagon (pretty fun actually ) but it didn't seem to really translate to the mountain. The longest I ever waited at the doubles in front of the lodge was 3 minutes, and the quad generally had some people milling around at the bottom but rarely a real line. Elk keeps people on the chairs more than the trails so conditions were great all day and runs were never crowded at all. There were a number of times when I was skiing off of the quad that on the diamonds there I was the only person on the entire trail. It was packed from my past experiences at Elk, but in reality the crowds were hardly an issue.

Elk was absolutely phenomenal the past 2 days as I'm sure Moe can attest. Tunkhannock was the run of the day. Bumps are getting built up nicely and are big and soft with perfect chalk between them. Great leg burning run. Yesterday there was this guy who I saw heading for the top of Tunk wearing jeans. Kind of waiting for the laugh I watched him for a little while when suddenly he dives straight for tough line and skis a perfect TELE run through the bumps. Pretty awesome to see him out there all day yesterday.

As per a late phone call last night I've got myself a ticket to head up to WVIA day. I'll be up around 9ish i guess. I snowboard, with a red and tan jacket and black pants. I'll be cruising the mountain alone today so feel free to say hi! Any other PASRers going to be out today?

Whoo! Elk was awesome today. Snow was soft and falling for most of the day. Tunkhannock was phenomenal, soft ungroomed snow with some nice bumps. Pretty cold, and I had to be a 4 layer player and use my facemask for the first time, but overall it wasn't a really big deal. Flat light all day was kind of lame but some primo conditions and hardly anyone there definitely made it a phenomenal day. I think I saw Moe a few times, he was a chair ahead of me and I saw him on the trail from the lift but I never got a chance to say hi.
