Ok, well as these are only very temporary.

I for one am not very happy about the new hours. When I'm home for break they are essentially taking away any shot of me riding during the day. I would much prefer to hit up the mountain in the morning and then have the rest of the day rather than have to go at 3. And even on Saturday, whats up with this whole 9 to 9 thing? Thats an hour shorter every night and 9 am to me seems pretty late for a ski area to open.

Nice TR. Sounds like a good time. I hope they have a lot of trails open when I get home next week.

These TRs are getting my stoke levels up like crazy. Just a week and a half til I'm on the snow!

Probably don't need a 158 if you're only 165, look for something low 150s, that'll help you out in the park department.

This is good news. I love doing a double session at Frost and then Boulder. Christmas break is going to be sweet. So how about we start getting a PASR day together now for over the college break? If no one beats me to it I'll start a thread after class.

Well I was considering maybe tripping up with a buddy and crashing at his place for Peek'n Peak, but there is no way I'm driving up to Erie for 400 verts.

I've heard good things about this place from some friends from Erie. What kind of Vert does Peek'n Peak have? Didn't really look all that tall and the website doesn't mention anything.

Friday December 5th from 3 to 9

Sorry the Baseball Hall of Fame inductions are in the summer not the Winter.

So I went up to Sno today to check out the mountain. I didn't check the website before I left, but after seeing and hearing that snowmaking was going on a decent number of trails I just went assuming I'd find all but Lower Runaway and Lower Fast Track and the blues open. This would not be the case. I parked over by the Phoebe Snow lift and rode down the spillway towards the bunny slope area. I could not believe what I saw down there. The trail down to the Iron Horse was bare, as was every single upper mountain trail except for the bunny, the tubing and the area next to the tubing. There wasn't even a solid snow surface all the way to the Lodge. I have a feeling that the main reason for this is that the Lazy river was still not filled in or covered with snow. I'm not in the business of running a mountain but I have a strange feeling that this is something that should be done. Ok, so its not all terrible. The coverage on the bunny and the park above the bunny was great. Snow was soft, no death cookies that I came across and it was well groomed. I didn't go down the Northface (which was only Boomer and Cannonball) but the upper stuff was nice. I spent some time playing around in the park. It was set up very nicely with 8 jibs and a perpendicular mailbox set on a spine (like what was at the bottom of terrain run at blue last year) Lips were nice and landings were smooth and well angled. Overall a decent day on the snow. I would have liked to see a little more open, but its not looking good with the next few days being warm.

Speaking of "Lighting up" Frost. Does anyone have any clue why they still will not put lights in at Jack Frost?

Hate to say it, but even getting cheap prices i.e. whiskeymilitia or steepandcheap and/or tramdock you're probably looking at spending more than your price range on that stuff except maybe for gloves. Look at waterproofing, seam taping, and insulation when it comes to technical stuff. After that its just comfort and compatibility with boots and/or jackets but look for waterproofing taping and insulation as the main factors when it comes to comparing pants.

Does a hike rail jam in the tubing area really count as "Earliest Opening"?

Not the early push like everyone else but still a nice effort from elk. I'll have to make a trip up there in December.
