  1. I kind of like the fact that the North Face is how it is. Its kind of like a private club for experts down there. You very rarely have to deal with people getting in your way, cutting you off or generally not using smart style down there. Its a place that I like to go on really cold nights. I kind of feel like that part of the mountain is giving back to the people who have spent years progressing to the top of their sport. If you can handle some of the gnarliest diamonds in the poconos, you're able to enjoy a special place. To route intermediates down into this area would kind of take some of this away. Not to mention when it does get really cold that one trail is going to be absolutely packed with people.
  2. I'll be at Stowe this upcoming weekend. Where are the sweet spots up there? I've never been and I'm hoping to get in the trees for a while.
  3. I had a blast on the battleship double gap thing at Montage. Slide it differently on each section for added steeze. As for jumps, I'd have to to with the ones on widow.

    Poe Day

I'm not worried about it being groomed out. There will be plenty for me in the woods. About the park though, maybe I'll go up a little later then and I'll be able to hit up the park after the comp.

    Poe Day

Tomorrow's going to be an awesome day at Sno. I want to get there for first chair, but depending on the roads it might be a smidge later. Who's going to be there? Theres that slopestyle, but I'm not as interested in the park tomorrow as usual because of the freshies to be had, but I'll probobly make a decent number of park runs. I can't wait to take advantage of this stuff.
  6. This just in: Camelback Ski Area will not open for ski operations during the 2007/2008. Winter is a very cold time of year and for the safety of the public we feel that it is better for everyone to stay inside where it is safe. On a related note, it is very impractical to make snow anyway because it wil just melt eventually.
  7. Just throwing this out there. I was at boulder the other day (tuesday) and they closed the lift on Freedom part way through the day. There weren't a lot of people there and I got pretty mad. So its not just CB that closes lifts.
  8. Lots of snow here. Probobobly around 2 inches so far, and its coming down really hard. I'd like to try to get up to Sno tonight to take advantage of this.
  9. I've met a few PASRs, but not nearly enough. On that note, anyone going to be at JFBB tomorrow? I'll be at frost in the morning (930ish) and then boulder when it opens. Anyone going to be out? I'll probobly be wearing a camo t-shirt or a blue hoodie and i've got red A-frames I think i'll try to put a PASR logo on for tomorrow since i'll most likely be lidless.
  10. Definately a good night tonight. I was up there from 3 to 930. Lightning was the best i've ever seen it, and the new park just can't be beat. Definately one of the best ones i've ever been in. I hit a great tree run off of fast track, minimum 3/4 of a mile away from the trail, and traversed a really sweet cliff. We had to hike out over the ridge back to the trail, but it was amazing. I'll get into a detailed report tomorrow.
  11. Don't you mean socks? sib
  12. Everything out there just looks incredible I think the stash is definitely the number one trail in the country I want to ride.
  13. If I remember the map correctly, it looked like it would actually go right next to the long haul, not necessarily replace it.
  14. Is there a discounted lift ticket to go along with this?
  15. Hit the nail on the head. My spring break is coming up and I can't wait to ride all over the Poconos. Always having to worry about having half the mountain closed when I arrive doesn't exactly make me want to drive to your mountain and spend my money on a product with diminished value.
  16. Well of course. I heard that depending on a combination of Wetbulb, Wind-chill and Terror alert, some weekdays might only have the Meadows lift running. :rofl
  17. Is there really that big of a weather difference between the stevenson and sullivan? Why can you run one but not the other? Aren't they the exact same make/model? I know the top of the stevenson is a little higher, but is that really enough to close it? Am I ever going to stop asking questions about this lift closing?
  18. I'm assuming that everything off trail is crusted and iced to the point its unuseable. I'll be up there next wednesday.
  19. The jersey wearers are going for the gangster thing right? I kind of see it as satirical as the odds of a real "gangster kid from the streets" being on the slopes isn't all that high. I tried it in my room once. I play basketball so I've got a bunch of jerseys, but it didn't really work for me.
  20. What time on Saturday is the boarder cross and how much is entry?
  21. Didn't we have some trouble with this kind of thing in the past?
  22. That really is great to hear. Sno has gone above and beyond in everything possible this year. I'm really proud of them and am glad that I can call it my home mountain. I'll take care of the Buffett considering I've got pretty much every album/song he has ever done.
  23. Wouldn't the mountains have extra funds now because they budgeted money for snowmaking previously and then didn't spend it. So theoretically they should still have whats left of their original snowmaking budget. Even if they don't go above and beyond that, just blow until you spent what you wanted to spend and try to extend your season.

    ELK 2-26

did it have a deck? I definately found a house there last year. Definately one of the most incredible runs I've ever taken.
  25. There it is. Summed up concicely. Please debate this statement (thanks glenn) rather than anything else from here on out in this thread. This whole thing of attacking every word that comes out of papasteeze's mouth is really getting old. His points anc criticisms of CB are valid, the presentation may not be to your liking, but the problems he is pointing out are real. For everyone saying that you choose to go to CB as opposed to other places: To go back to the McDonald's thing, What if there is a Mickey D's accross the street that is pulling shady moves, and the next nearest place to eat is 45 minutes away. Where would you go on a very frequent basis? For many members of this board skiing/boarding is like eating. It is a basic need for us during the winter and we will do most anything to achieve this as much as possible. For an absolute diehard like our members, it is worth putting up with these shady moves to go nearly (if not every) day. Doesn't make it right in any way shape or form, but its why there isn't a total and complete boycott of Camelback. Even from where I sit which is 2 hours away from CB, Its blatenly obvious to me that CB is pulling a lot of cost cutting moves which end up affecting the core customers. This puts a bad taste in my mouth as it must do so for others hearing about it. I can say right now that CB has seen less of my money in the past 2 years because of it. I think its safe to assume that Papasteeze won't spend a dime there next year. I know it doesn't actually mean a whole lot to CB, but its definately a negative in my eyes when their core customers are upset. One of the things that people commented on Elk in another thread was the great local scene they encountered. The times I've been to CB I can't say I encountered any kind of local scene at all. This is important to me in a ski area. I love snowboarding more than anything, and I certainly spend enough money each year for me to do it. For the amount of money I shell out per day, I think my overall experience should be a good one, whether its ripping down a black, jibbing some sweet jibs, or just standing on the snow and taking it all in. Camelback does not give me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside when i'm on the snow there. I think some of it has to do with the negative publicity they get from these moves, the other part of it is something I just can't pin down. Its almost like they feel like they are doing you a favor by simply having snow on ground. This certainly isn't the worst though, and this isn't a pure CB rip. I get the absolute least satisfaction from standing on the snow at Blue. Sorry to all you Booter heads, but the concrete retaining walls and loudspeakers just ruin it for me. wow, that was a long one
