Hi Mrs. T. From your description of what you want I've got a mixed answer for you. As of right now for skiing/riding I would definatley recomend Jack Frost/Big Boulder. A ticket at either mountain is also good at the other for that day. The snow is good there, there are more trails open and it is less expensive than Camelback which has been getting some bad reviews this year. (There are a number of threads about what they've done.) Unfortunately as of right now neither Boulder or Frost has a tubing park open. Things may change between then and now but to go snowtubing camelback is your only place.

That tidbit is pretty interesting actually. Thanks YummerzZz. Does anyone know how many feet the other lifts that don't go all the way to the top do?

I was just about to log last night's riding at boulder but when I went to the list of verts for PA mountains it didn't seemt to be working, kind of like Doug's editing. Anyone have numbers for Boulder?
-
Sorry ski, I don't think I'll be able to do that. I'll probobly be sitting in the cell next to you that night still wearing my boots.

I totally agree with the wayy too many people there tonight. It was absolutely packed when I got there just before 4. I never had to wait long for a lift, but the trails were just packed with people that were so obviously on vacation from Ny and Jersey. Parks were crowded, but decently maintained. Park crew definately showed a presence. Merry Widow was good, but being my second day I didn't hit any of the jumps there. Just the one rail at the top and the battleship at the bottom, which was pretty sweet. Freedom park was pretty good, some nice rails and boxes and the jumps were nice to ease into the season on. I definately saw nipples there today. I was chilling and waiting for the box at the bottom of freedom park and someone yelled "nipples", It was definately him, but was gone by the time I hit the box. I was up in a black hoodie and no hat if anyone saw me.

Does boulder have a board check? I'll be heading up in about an hour. If anyone is there come over and say hi. tan pants, red and tan jacket, red board, red A-frames.

I"m heading up to boulder around 3 tonight. Any advice on areas to avoid, or where the good snow is?

This season is really proving without a shadow of a doubt that camelback is a business and nothing more. They don't care about conditions, open trails or customer satisfaction as long as they sell enough tickets. The worst part is that even if everyone on this board boycotts them, we're the minority and don't put money in their pocket anyway. They New York and Philly crowd will always be there and so will a poor mountain for all of us. I feel terrible for all the CB locals who are passholders to this place. Especially the ones who live close and will continue to be passholders.

Wow, its really all I can say at this point. I feel really bad for my bro and all you guys who work there.
-
Thats absolutely rediculous. I don't blame you for never wanting to go to CB again. Did they actually come out and measure her?
-
I'm pretty sure you can fill it with anything as long as you clean it pretty well afterwards. I know of a lot of people that use them to smuggle ilicit beverages into stadiums and it seems to work for them.

Lawnmowers at the course I used to work at have more horsepower and a turbo!

So I guess us locals have to lead a slapstick revolt against Sno now?
-
Yep Christmas has been keeping me away from PASR a little bit.

I bought a cheap watch from the crazy man floating down canal. It doesn't use numbers or moving hands, it only just says now. Now you may be thinking that I was had, but this watch is never wrong. And If I have trouble the warranty says breathe in, breathe out, move on.....

I got a Sony Cyber shot for Christmas this morning. I"m a complete n00b when it comes to photography. Anyone have any opinions on this camera? Is it good, is it bad. Should I take it back. Its got a setting for snow so I assume it will be ok to take on the mountain but I don't want to go before I get some feedback from all the photogs on here. Any advice (even negative) would be appreciated.

Huh? I thought Sno was right outside of philly? You need a big city if you want to have the Olympic trials right?
-
Nice pics ski. If I were you I would have taken the "Welcome to Montage" sign. It would make a great decoration.
-
That is quite a picture, but why does the guy next to the bus have 6 squiggly red skis?
-
People have different home mountains for different reasons. Mostly because of closeness. So CB is poorly run, its still a lot closer for some people and they will get more use out of a pass to a closer mountain. Home is where you live, not how good the mountain is. I wish my home mountain could be Killington, but it makes a lot more sense for me to be a local at the 3 trails of Tussey.

I hope he can teach the rest of us, or else he's gonna be lonely in that thing.
-
I wouldn't be too worried about looking bad. The locals won't be much better at the pipe. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to one of those things too.
-
Are you serious? They may have had slow lifts and some snowmaking problems (snowmaking problem has already been fixed and the lifts will be next year), but Montage has arguably some of the best terrain out there. To each his own I guess, I'll enjoy my open trails of 1000 foot vert and you can enjoy wall to wall people on 300 feet of headwall and 500 feet of runout.

Well don't keep us in the dark. What do they have planned?
