Wanna just give us both $50?

Woah woah woah, I just though of a loophole. What if you are teaching the classes......
-
Trust me, I'm in Business School, it all checks out in my spreadsheet.

I heard Dr. Toast is going to tank a project or two so he can milk that for an extra semester and the sweet sweet discount.

Looks like Saturday might be it for Mt. Blue. Lots of rain in the forecaast for Sunday. It'll be almost 70 on Saturday so break out the sunscreen and vests again.
-
And with no high speed lifts it would keep certain parking lot dancers away.....

I asked for a possible different location and/or day at Wegmans when I got my first and got a hard no.

Completely agree. Realistically 90% of "improvements" a mountain could make would actually be detrimental to PASRs. The perfect mountain for PASRs would be Mount Cain on Vancouver Island. It's got two t-bars, a group of volunteers to man them and places to park and camp. Oh and some gnarly rocky mountain terrain.

Everyone is getting all worked up about this company coming in and dumping some cash on both CB and Blue. The odds of anything changing from a high up level is extremely slim. Saying that "This company owns both Blue and Camelback" is like saying a credit union owns both my car and the guy's down the block. Technically true but it doesn't matter to the operation of either vehicle.

Next year could really be Ep... er I mean amazing

Complete uneducated guess here but I would imagine that that chair was just in the exact wrong place at the exact wrong time and some sort of resonance got involved and swung it all the way up due to a hard stop or a drive surge or a combination of the two. I'm sure the sudden force and the fact that it swung so high was just too much for the parts that clamp the chair onto the cable, they are designed to release after all so they aren't exactly welded on there, and the chair just came off. Resonance is a hell of thing and if that chair was a few feet up or a few feet back we might not be talking about this today.

I was considering the halfway house, not the group home. Thanks for the info though

Epic seems great but their offerings in Utah are kind of lacking

Back in the day at Montage they had huge orange banners up on poles that stretched the whole width of the trail, probably 20 feet in the air that said something along the lines of "Expert terrain only beyond this point" to try and turn people before they went down lower runaway and lower fast track. It would take a herculean effort to cut a blue trail down to the bottom of Montage, the mountain just naturally takes a nosedive down there and there are some major rock formations and cliffs off to the far skiers right that would make it very tough to add a mellow trail out there. I love Montage but at the end of the day it's 4 little mountains all tied together since each lift skis like its own little pod. Welcome @abe!

This hotel at Montage would be 100% sold out for all concerts at the mountain and they could probably charge a ton for those nights. Since there's no public transportation up there it can be assumed that any hotel guest would need a car which would not really make an expensive slopeside place a lot more appealing than a much cheaper option 5 minutes away.

I could aVAIL myself to this if it is true, especially if there is a student discount offered as well.
-
They have at least a 18 months to two years in design time ahead of them on this project. Don't expect to be sitting in a rooftop hot tub at Montage any time soon.
-
If you use that guy standing under the lift as a rough guide and assume he's around 6 feet tall, that chair would have fallen around 35 feet.
-
If that rendering is any indication they are about 74 years from this actually becoming a reality.

My aunt made a wrong turn and wound up at the top of Falls on Saturday and used the little crossover to get back to lower sidewinder

All of these complaints towards Camelback are valid but they aren't in the business of being the mountain for people like us. If I were a casual skier with a family from the New York/New Jersey area I would find a huge list of grievance with Blue. Not enough green circle terrain, no infrastructure, no lodging, no outside of skiing attractions, a bare bones lower lodge, not enough snow tubing, the list could go on and on. For people like this Camelback is perfect. It's like a Six Flags in the winter and people who value safety and security probably really like the fact that someone tells them where to park and there are people controlling skiers speed and seemingly reckless behavior. The extremely unique thing about where we live is that the Poconos have so many mountains close together it's like picking a restaurant. Not every place fits every person but you can definitely find your fit.
-
My only real complaint about Camelback is that it's at least 70% runout. Can't blame anyone on that though, just the mountain itself.

Epic's "big announcement" from today was postponed....

Oh I'm sure they are going to be upset, but at the same time they would have to be paid out for anything that they had saved up. I think things will remain fairly status quo regardless of what this new company wants to do. Palmerton has got to be a constrained labor market so it's got to be difficult to replace anyone and they will find out quick if they try to lowball the people that do work there and if they walk away it will be difficult trying to backfill them if they offer too little.
