  1. Why did you take your skis off on White Lightning? The lower part of it is usually a little easier with smaller bumps.
  2. I reserve boner city usage for epic trip reports.
  3. Can we add the confused face on that too? It's on 1/2 of the posts here anymore
  4. The fact that they made them wear masks while playing basketball is next level dumb. Either let them play normally or cancel the season. This halfway security theater nonsense isn't helping anyone.
  5. Who said anything about early April? I'm hoping we push it closer to May!
  6. This is short term though. Once people can go back to movie theaters and bowing alleys or wherever the majority of people go during the winter the novelty will be gone. I've said it before but this is just a reaction to not having other options and a desire to get the hell out of the house for many people. I don't know what the retention rate is for new skiers to become lifetime skiers but it has to be low and the conversion rate from first timers or occasional skiers to season passholders is probably even lower. I would guess the move would be to keep passes at or just above current prices and advertise the hell out of them at the end of this season. Hopefully they can snag a few people who think that it's a great deal. An ideal situation for Blue would be to sell a decent number of low cost enticing passes to New Yorkers or Philadelphians who think it's a great deal and then it sits in their drawer next year either unused or barely used. Another thing I just thought of that could possibly explain my theory that this is all people who don't care what kind of recreation they do at this point is that we aren't laughing at the nonsense that day trippers typically post on Facebook. Seemingly fewer complaints from people means that they are just happy to be there regardless of what happens.
  7. So if you were to warm the meats on the fire, does that mean that these meats will have to be transported up the quad and skied down to the halfway house? Because that would be awesome
  8. Are they full enough for the koi guy to make a delivery or are we still waiting on that?
  9. I'll just be watching for any shake ups in terms of mountains going from Epic to Ikon or vice versa and then I'll grab one of those two plus my trusty rusty blue mountain pass of course.
  10. I know a guy. Covid doesn't make things easy but I can look into it for you.
  11. I think he cared more about the fact that the green matched throughout the ensemble
  12. Her helmet and the boots have tags on them too. my real issue with that stock photo is the fact that they have tiny skis and looks like both of them are holding giant (my size) boots
  13. They really don't but some of them are super nice and seem to enjoy their jobs. Saw something interesting yesterday at the Quad. A teenaged looking girl lift attendant came up to the guy directing traffic in line and said she was sent over to that chair specifically to enforce mask wearing. They chatted for a minute and he told her to start just walking around the line and talk to anyone who had their mask down or not on at all.
  14. Looks like an awesome time up there!!! Glad you guys were able to get out and enjoy it!

    Elk 2020/21 Season

Not that you can ski the trees, but was there any natural snow off of the trails?
  16. At least over on the quad they seemed to be either sending singles up, or the guy was checking to see if you were cool with rising with someone else then pairing two singles up for a ride.
  17. Great Sunday, even though I rolled in late. Snow wasn't bad. I felt guilty for only going two runs so as I was driving home I wound up pulling in the upper lot, parking right next to the lodge and going back out for a few more mediocre runs. How anyone can actually enjoy 2pm at Blue mountain is beyond me. 3D snow everywhere and out of control people absolutely everywhere.
  18. This seems extremely reasonable. Plus at least part of this is to try to stimulate the economy. I think that a decent amount of people would take the money and spend it in some way shape or form helping out the economy.
  19. As much as it's correct is it a valid thing to do by directive? Example: A ship is sinking and there aren't enough lifeboats (Pre Titanic days). There is a collegiate swim team on board. The captain makes the directive that the swim team is not allowed to get in any lifeboats as they have the best chance in the water. This is a problematic situation. The ideal situation would be that the lifeboats were open to all and the swim team would volunteer themselves to get in the water on their own.
  20. Clearly those in charge of making this decision didn't struggle much with it considering the way things are currently defined. I listened to https://www.thisamericanlife.org/729/making-the-cut this podcast yesterday and act 1 is about a panel of people put together to decide which applicants were given the chance to use one of the first dialysis machines invented. Ethical decision making, especially in a medical context, is fascinating to me. Balancing individuals vs the greater good is a very tricky thing to do for anyone with a conscience.
  21. No doubt, but this brings up a huge ethical question. Why prioritize people who made the conscious decision to put themselves in a higher risk category for the disease?
  22. Do I count If I respond first to this post?
  23. Kiosks are super easy. Stick the barcode in and an RFID card pops out. Transaction should take 5 seconds. Saw the exact same machines at Solitude. These will definitely be the way to go for a lot of resorts and I'll assume many other ticketed places going forward.
  24. Does the 10% off work at the food trucks?
  25. I don't think there is a phrase that dates a snowboarder quite like "Loved the half pipe too".
