Looks like some pretty major construction going on at the lodge there

A-Basin has said they would reopen if possible.

I think this conversation brings up something that I've been thinking about since day 1. We are right in the middle of this whole thing and it's absolutely crazy so I'm very glad we are taking measures to stop the spread. That being said, the severity, the spread, the death rate, the number of people infected, the locations being affected, and literally every other stat, fact, figure and measure that we are talking about has to be looked at with a wide angle lens. Number of people with Covid are most likely lower than reported because we aren't testing everyone and people are staying home and riding it out. Deaths are probably under-reported because some people die outside hospitals. False positives are a problem, lack of testing is a problem, lack of specific data on patients is a problem, i.e. age, race, health, etc. I don't think anyone can make an accurate prediction as to what will happen or what we should do next with the way that we are currently gathering data.

I just read Philadelphia's! Really interesting stuff. Turns out I'm drinking water from the Schuylkill river!

I wonder what the break even occupancy is for one of the big Vegas hotels. If no one can fly into Vegas the only realistic market is LA and I kind of doubt that enough people will go even if things open up. It would be like Blue Mountain on a Wednesday morning in late March. Yeah we are open but we are spending more to unlock the doors that we would be pulling in.

I"m going into the office every day, but we have temperature checks at the entrances (IT built a pretty cool no-touch rig actually that tracks your temp day by day since you use your ID badge to scan into the system) and they provide a mandatory mask every day. It's actually pretty low contact once I'm in the building though and I rarely get within 20 feet of anyone else. We've also hired two people who's sole job is to go around the entire facility and constantly wipe down any door handles, flat surfaces, or shared things (like copiers) with disinfectant.

That's pretty shitty about Ruth's Chris jumping on this program, I for one think it's an extremely overrated place. I think this is to be expected though, leave an opportunity and a business is going to go after it. I'm sure when it was written the idea was to keep the staff at TGI Friday's or whatever paid. I'm sure there are plenty of chain restaurant employees who are out of work now.

I"m letting my hair grow. It's going to be very interesting what it looks like by the end of this.

I'm guessing most will wind up paying bills and getting ahead on savings

Most large ships use a heavier fuel than diesel. This stuff is incredibly dirty burning but also much cheaper. It's shocking that there isn't more protest about the pollution from the cruise industry considering the literal million of gallons of dirty fuel they burn

Airlines maybe just a tad. Hotels, no.

A cruise company getting a single penny would really annoy me.

The only chance you might have would be the state ranges, but I doubt they are open either.

The top of that storm drain is complete gloom and doom scenario. If water goes in there then there won't be any lines left in the yard and the toast will be either extremely soggy or evacuated. The important thing with an inlet like that is actually below grade. It likely has holes drilled into it on the sides of the structure and a nice layer of porous and loosely packed clean stone around it to let water in from the surrounding ground which will then hit the storm sewer system and wind up in the detention (possibly retention) pond somewhere in the development. And that's your Stormwater Management 101 lesson for today. Tune in next week when we discuss safe flow rates and 1000 year storm calculations.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Giant makes a pretty good bagel, especially their asiago one

Not sure how much additional content there will be for a while. Just saw last night that the project is paused

I would have been flying out. This is not helping. Also why is it cold again?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it this way. Give me some of my own money back and then whack me for taxes again next Friday.

How is it that the world keeps it pretty consistent with Santa Claus, but can't get their shit together on an Easter Bunny?
-
That bunny suit is probably crawling with all sorts of pathogens, Coronavirus is just one of many in that matted carpet of a costume.
-
So I think the thing that is getting completely glossed over and I would love to see more research and thought on it is the fact that population density is a tremendous factor in this and will obviously continue to be an issue with future pathogens. I don't think there is any question that NYC is the hardest hit because it is the most dense part of the country. There isn't any animal on earth, people included, that have any business living literally stacked on top of each other like we do in our biggest cities. At least in my opinion through totally anecdotal reasoning, there must be a critical mass tipping point on a city where we just say "enough is enough" and find a way to curb the growth. Pandemic or not it is a logistical nightmare to keep that many people healthy and fed in such a small area.

Can Mont Bleu survive an entire season being closed? I'm going to imagine that by next Thanksgiving we will be once again sliding down the laziest of miles.

I have serious concerns for my hair by the end of this. But it will definitely be interesting. I'm kind of at the tipping point now where it either gets crazy or I cut it. I can't remember the last time my hair was as rowdy as this. I'll have long flowing locks and need a bigger helmet by next ski season if this keeps up

Rain and wind here. Pretty nasty but still somewhat warm out. Good to fill up the fishing ponds I guess
