  1. A few years ago they attempted to have a small shack (pretty much exactly what the PASR shack would be) with ticket windows on it right in the parking lot next to the snow at the Phoebe Snow lift. There was a small fire pit, some benches and I think they might have had some light snacks and hot chocolate for sale. They were trying to cater to the guys that wanted to just boot up and head right down Smoke or Boomer, but that idea and the shack were ditched along with the Moose a number of years ago. Good idea in theory, but realistically I don't think there are enough non passholders that want to completely avoid the main lodge that bad to warrant having it there.
  2. Beautiful layout. I have a similar PRR steam engine but I'm an O-scale guy.
  3. I saw a guy in Scranton the night before Thanksgiving rollerblading around the hill section. Probably one of the more strange things I've seen this month.
  4. Maybe the announcement is that they built a new waterslide on Marjie's
  5. I showed the picture of that cosmic tubing to my girlfriend and before I could say "look how dumb that is" she got really excited and asked if we could go. I'm hoping she forgets about it soon.
  6. I did an open to close at CB when I was like 14. Haven't come close to a day like that since.
  7. Montage doesn't have a small, narrow kind of universal trail that they can just blast and open quickly with one or two chairs. Not to mention at the base in front of the lodge they have to cover up the water park with a decent amount of snow. Their problem is that things are just so wide and spread out. I mean they have to blow a Freedom's amount of snow just to put snow across the whole base area
  8. Guess I'll be heading up there a few times a week now
  9. 68 all day and all night at my place. My girlfriend hates being chilly at night. When I lived alone I would keep it around 64 and then I shut the heat completely to my bedroom at night.
  10. The sale of the triple packs ends before black friday, so i'm on the fence about what to do.
  11. I seem to recall someone on here saying that Blue does black Friday specials on their website for lift tickets and such. Is that the case? I was going to buy a few of those triple ticket packs but might hold off until Black Friday if there are deals available
  12. I'm in the same boat. I love trivia, but people seem to be "responsible" and "busy" midweek.
  13. I didn't even think about this. It's daytime and we are watching the guns fire up. Definitely not the norm.
  14. According to a post on their facebook page, Montage has lit up the guns today too.
  15. The cold this morning really surprised me when I took the dog out. I guess it really is almost that time!
  16. I usually read biographies and/or history or other nonfiction kind of things. People have done some cool stuff over the past few thousand years might as well learn about it. I'm between a rock and hard place where I just moved to in terms of libraries now. As far as I can tell Montgomery County Library system doesn't have a location anywhere near me, I work close to Doylestown so I could hit up the library there but I don't live in Bucks county, and the nearby one in Lansdale is only for residents of that town so I would have to pay a monthly fee to use the library.

Why not just run a natural gas line? It should be pretty easy to trench through that parking lot.
  19. 2.5 weeks. Just curious, Dee and SallyCat, how did you guys find this place? I'm hoping the answer is from a sticker placed on a lift pole in 2005 but I'm probably wrong on that.
  20. I'm actually interested in making the transition to skis so in a year or so I'll be able to keep up with you guys on two planks.
  21. So I think I figured out what I'll do. Since I missed the boat on a season pass and they are now $599 each (still not terrible I guess) I'm going to get two of the triple play peak ticket packages which will give me 6 weekend days at Blue for $238 (or $39.66 per day). This will also let me hit up Montage occasionally if I go back to Scranton to visit people and such. Then as soon as Blue offers the season pass for next year (hopefully February) I'll snag that and finish off the season.
  22. I like this idea. Arguably worth at least 4 cents.
  23. Admittedly Montage is a little lacking on decent vert and diversity of steep trails and I guess slow lifts but the real key to that place is that you can show up at 10AM on a Saturday and have small lines and untouched snow. Plus, for me at least it's not about the trails there, it's about everything else around them. Hands down my favorite "trail" in PA is starting at the top of White Lightning and finishing at the bottom of Boomer. That little bit of woods is fantastic. And of course you can go in their marked glades and have a damn good time, especially if you blaze your own path and take the trees all the way to the bottom of the mountain.
  24. Where can I get one of these PS&R cards?
  25. I'm on the fence, for the $449 its a no brainer but I had no idea I would be living anywhere near blue. I guess the thing that's holding me back is the fact that it'll mean an hour and 15 minutes up and the same back so that would make me think twice about running up there all the time. I'm used to Montage where I would run over after work for 2 hours and then drive 10 minutes home.
