Did a lot of bushwacking today, both in and out of bounds. But, with friends and knowledge of the terrain. Goggles are your eyes' best friend, by the way.
-
Spent a lot of time bushwacking today, enjoying the powder, so you get a bunch of trees and ...finally...some action shots.

Yesterday's pic. Didn't ski today, but they got snow and more is on the way. And, no, that's not me.
-
Seriously? What if the snow is deep, it's all uphill, you've lost a ski our are injured? What if there's no cell service? You're the kind of person they're busy rescuing!
-
It exists. I have it associated with our Spot.

There ya go.

So basically, you're making 95% of skiers pay for these twirps. Personally, I'd rather bump up the cost of the rescue for each rescued party to cover the uncollected stuff.
-
Where we ski, a different group is responsible for out of bounds rescues. Ski patrol might help since they're good folks, but Flathead Search and Rescue is officially in charge of those rescues. Signs tell you this AND that because it is a non-resort group that there could be a substantial delay... And that you are financially liable. We get some of these dingbats, even including the ones who, when told to stay put because their cellphone is miraculously working, continue to move into worse and worse terrain.

I agree, it could only be a good thing. They are far enough apart that they probably don't have too much market overlap. -
Today we had great weather, terrific snow and bearable crowds. One issue, was skiing with a lady who only likes groomers, so I was on my groomer skis. Belatedly realized that the pow is back and ready. Tomorrow.

Nice trip report.

Holiday crowds at the summit:
-
Oasis of calm on a trail that visitors can't seem to find. And still had corduroy at 1:30. Hordes in the AM seemed to vanish from noon until 2. Not sure if they got worn out or lost in some tree well. Not going tomorrow and fear for my survival on Sunday.
-
Back to it after a week. Hard and fast. Nothing like holiday people.... Clueless on the same slopes as the irresponsible. And it's only going to get worse.

Cannot seem to post YouTube links on my android... http://www.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F#/watch?v=nv9VBh6wMTY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dnv9VBh6wMTY

No, I'm sure some place has more. Plus we have visibility issues a lot. Thank god for that.

Seasonal stats mean exactly zip. Some start counting in October, some start opening day. What counts is what is ON THE GROUND.
-
Didn't anyone tell you, it's not the length, it's what you do with it?
-
Just because you're spending money doesn't mean you should throw it out the window with a bucket.

Concept was to stay in Summit County or Park City and near a lot of DIFFERENT ski areas. Don't pay Vail's prices. Take your business elsewhere. Don't pay for a reputation. Pay for what YOU are skiing.
-
The thing is, you can only cover so much territory in one day, no matter what the size of the place is. You're paying for terrain you are not using. If you want variety, ski a different area each day and pay a lower price per day.
-
I would only have fun if someone else was paying... If you don't count the locker I'm only paying $8 a day or less... Which is why I never go anywhere.
