I wouldn't know. It just drives me nuts with the trenches, you have to keep an eye out that you don't line up your skis into one of them and always cross them sort of at right angles.
-
I know I am always saying we don't have a lot of snowboarders. Well, we do have these guys...

I seem to have fixed the permissions problem from the earlier post...just need someone to remove the earlier posting for me. The second one has an extra pic.

Oddly, never saw anyone I knew all day except some uphill skiers. And yet it was fairly crowded for a Tuesday.

New URL's. East Rim: East Rim Face: Caribou Trees -- tree well territory: Hellroaring Basin Panorama: End of day on School Road:

Really??? I can see them. Just the last bunch or all of them? Oh, wait, I refreshed my screen and now I can't see them either. Hmmm.

I've got one new pair of skis. The other two pairs are still on active service, but each have over 140 days on them. If I had a job they'd have been replaced a couple seasons back. And that is the biggest difference between skiers and boarders, the income issue. I don't think it has anything to do with the sport itself. I could see a real decline in interest as you age to having to sit down and strap in at the beginning of every run, although there is a grandma here that does it, many of us would have to have a friend to have us up.

"When the visibility is bad, locals head for the trees." Nuff said. Ankle deep or more on the groomed runs:

I'd seen another article about that. http://travel.yahoo.com/ideas/snowboarding-losing-popularity--while-skiing-heats-up-200354126.html We have way more back country and tele skiers here than boarders, at least among locals. Snowboarders are mostly "paper ticket people".

Elephant's Graveyard today. No one was in this for some reason.... And another one from Good Med:

What I've heard about it is the lack of crowds at Alpine makes it ideal beginner territory. I think it can get pretty nuts at JF especially.

We were scheduled to get 1 inch, maybe three. GOT WAY more. Shin deep piles of fluff on the groomers, dense enough to stay down and not blow away, yet light enough to blast through without impacting your speed. NOTE: The video was filmed in the AM, it dumped all day long. Everything filled in with each lap.

And here a kid is about to be beamed up...

Talk about looking like two pictures fused into one, this one taken around the same point looks even more like that:

Another one: Christmas eve:

I'm still in contact with ski999 and I skied last season with Glenn and his "lady friend". Picture from last week (lately there has been ZERO visability)

Glad to hear it.

EpicSki was just sold to some entity that is part of Vail Resorts. Big brouhaha going on about site content, who got the money, etc. If only the site content here had more value, maybe Jeff could hit it big. A goal to shoot for.

Maybe ask on the Tele forum, Telemarktalk.com?

Dec. 24. Plenty of snow.

We are having stunningly good snowfall so far for this time of year. We're not ahead of two seasons back yet, but we've had 96 inches so far (on opening day they count what is there and then add to it, so early season snow that has melted is NOT picked up in the stats). Close to the whole area (94 of 98 named runs) is open AHEAD of Christmas. Coverage is excellent off groomed. On the other hand, we haven't had very good visibility lately.

I've noticed lately that just using direct URL's is working for embedding YouTube and Vimeo movies and the "special BB code" is NOT working no matter what I try to do. Must have something to do with some upgrade because I know I used to use that, but now just pasting in the URL works not just BETTER, but seems to be the only way to do it. Also, I noticed that you can't say the size you want a picture to be, it's whatever the original is. I know I can fix that sizing over on EpicSki, but cannot figure out how to do it here.
