I've noticed lately that just using direct URL's is working for embedding YouTube and Vimeo movies and the "special BB code" is NOT working no matter what I try to do. Must have something to do with some upgrade because I know I used to use that, but now just pasting in the URL works not just BETTER, but seems to be the only way to do it. Also, I noticed that you can't say the size you want a picture to be, it's whatever the original is. I know I can fix that sizing over on EpicSki, but cannot figure out how to do it here.

She was a race coach the past two seasons and was a nature guide in the summer. Now, however, she is off to grad school.

Tried to edit above and it wouldn't let me. Please remove that posting and then remove this line.... Siblet made the cover of the resort brochure!!

More pictures. I just heard from a friend. There were enough people there that she took one run and went home. She and I are a bit spoiled by empty slopes. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151325690644309.492364.30030734308&type=1

Whitefish opened today, but I'm not going until Monday. I like empty trails my first time out.

I don't know. Siblet never has to pay. And I used up my quota in my 20's. Alcohol gives me migraines now. -

Trip Advisor resort list of most and least expensive destinations

Well, Atomic, first they aren't including airfare, which is a significant part of the comparison and tosses their list out the window. Second, they are using the AVERAGE hotel price based on the room prices they have in their database for the winter season. Of course, that's different from the "median" and from any particular hotel room someone might find and only includes stuff you can book online -- and I've stayed in plenty of places that you can't book online via something like Trip Advisor, only directly. What you are saying is there is a really wide dispersion at JH, allowing for lots of lower priced housing, whereas in Aspen the dispersion is limited. I don't know if that is true or not...because the last time I stayed in Aspen money wasn't an issue for me. Just an interesting chart. One more piece of data. -

MSP movie premiere tonight in Wilmington, DE

Siblet went to it in Moscow, ID, and told me that she hated it. Told me that even the recent WME movies were better. I told her she hadn't seen this year's WME film yet.... She felt that the lack of snow last year had impacted the film. I didn't see it (and won't now), so can't speak to it directly. Just some input, take it for what it's worth. -
Ok..I'm gonna beat the Times here....Involuntary Chapter 11 Filed.

Our theme seems to be dead skiers. Tons of trails named after locals who are no longer with us. -

If this post over on Epic is what it appears to be, a re-typing of the Powder list, along with the poster's comments, then we are pretty consistent: http://www.epicski.com/t/113869/best-resort-to-ski-powder/180#post_1494570

Hmmm...I got mine for going to a Warren Miller movie, certainly doesn't come with the pass. At one point I had three copies coming because of NASTAR, the movie and my own subscription, but once NASTAR left, the issues gradually disappeared. It might be that for DV and Vail, but just our visit numbers should tell you that our 11 spot jump is sort of weird.

I doubt if it's the ads we buy. For one thing, how big could our advertising budget be, given Vail gets 1,600,000 a year compared to our 290,000. More likely to be some kind of function of the way they get the surveys filled in. Personally, I haven't seen a survey in over 20 years. But...I get the sense that at some point it can be filled out online if you're watching for it. Does anyone know? Once it's online of course it can be jimmied. Not necessarily by the resort, but enthusiastic supporters.

One of the top vert guys occasionally wears TWO!!! LOL!

It depends on how many gapers decide to come here whether this is a win or not. After all, our weather was apparently voted #46. You have to be pretty hard core to ski here.

Our leap was so huge that I'm wondering how they weed out people answering the survey multiple times. It just doesn't seem possible for us to have gotten to number 11, above some of those other resorts. I guess they put a lot of weight on the Value aspect. I'm wondering if the same folks who got us to win the Native Eyewear Locals Only Project had a hand in this.

What actually happened is they dropped the speed events and the NorAms entirely. They have spun off the teams to the parents. Parents now pay all the coaches' salaries. Not sure on if the mountain is providing events support for free or what, of course, it's always been mostly volunteers. They still allow training on the hill on the weekend. They still provide space for offices and kids locker room. Oddly, Siblet made more after the spin off than before and still got a free lift tickets and employee prices on food. Now, she's out of it, of course, being back in school. We can't do that because of Forest Service agreements. Hey, did you see we came in at #11 in the latest SKI mag poll, ahead of Aspen??? LOL! That's probably because we had snow last year and all the Coloradans had to come here or to Big Sky. Hopefully, the fame will go away.
