I think THIS looks funny.

The extra pants keep my hands and toes warm as well. The case of handwarmers expired largely unused once I started that. I only wear the butt flap if it's dumping or riming. I wear the extra (waterproof shell) pants if it's single digits or snowing. What difference does it make if I wear them or not anyway? I know what works for me. You know what works for you. If the "look" here locally is butt flaps, then so what?

DUMPING all day, six inches by the 10 AM report and it just kept on coming. Knee deep in some areas in the PM. Definitely MY best day of the year. Schmidt's Chute: In Whitey's, below the Nose:

Exactly. It also insulates, so if it's howling winds and below zero it helps as well. Personally, if it's snowing, I have TWO pair of "waterproof" pants on PLUS the butt flap. I don't want to go in because I'm wet, I want to ski. I'm way past worrying about looking good.

Most of my friends (the "regulars") told me they also never even attempted to ski on that chair, most left mid day. We're just spoiled as hell. I went to Costco later with my husband - EMPTY. I know where they all were.

Should have been a banner day!!! 22 inches in the last 24 hours, 17 last night. BUT, the entire valley was here. I've never seen lines so long. People were lining up 1.5 hours before the main lift opened and then it opened a half hour late due to blasting or something. People were backed up the hill waiting to ride that lift. I'm sure all the churches were empty!!! I rode Chair 2 a few times, hoping Chair One would get down to 20 minutes in the singles line, but finally headed over to Chair Four and rode that. That's not so bad, there's a ton of steep trees on either side of it and there was no one riding it. However, Siblet had car trouble and had to get to her coaching job and my husband and I needed to deal with getting her car moved before it got towed to the impound lot because she had to abandon it and get a ride from someone else. 20-ish is over on East Rim. Not sure about 145-ish as you can SEE East Rim. Maybe that's off the cliff on Haskill Slide.

From today. Fewer people, odd conditions. Yesterday we had HIGH HIGH winds and odd textured snow. Today, some areas were wind packed, others were scoured and parts of the back were excellent. But we started getting a lot of graupel as the day went on, which was I guess super dry as it felt sort of like sand on the hill. Moved lower and things were fine, but not the most exciting stuff. On Heaven in AM, looks nice, but was quite deceiving. Nice powder covering wind-scoured hard pack. No action here, but it was a beautiful view.

Had another migraine yesterday, so bad my husband had to come fetch me, couldn't even talk to people after I came in from skiing to the locker room. Nevertheless, somehow remembered to take ONE picture.

Had a migraine today, didn't stay long as the clowns were still here and two of them almost nailed me because conditions were tough. Deep snow with a skin of ice on top on some exposures. Anyway, down on Hibernation:

Hadn't planned to go today due to holiday crowds (supposedly 7000 last two days, which is about the highest number we get), but it's just been snowing and snowing so I had to do some sampling. Skiing with Siblet on Gray's Golf Course: Good Medicine:

My friend in Elephant's Graveyard today. Too bad we were both skiing with headaches, I could have lapped this all day.

Too late, they are HERE!!! Today was like a Saturday, so writing off the next three days. It will still be crowded on Tuesday because of all the Canadians, but not as bad as this weekend is going to be. I don't line up for Chair 1 if the corrals are full, I head to Chair 2 and ski and let all the "first tracks" nuts up there and then I head up. I'd rather be skiing than waiting. There's 3000 acres here, I can wait until the nuts get settled down.

I don't want no stinking people on my trails. Actually, there is a small dot in the distance that is a skier. From what I hear, the hordes are going to be there this weekend. They are saying it will be worse than Christmas. And...wouldn't you know...it's supposed to snow Saturday and Sunday. Here I was planning on staying home for the three day weekend. Might have to skim the cream by getting a few runs in before 11 each day.
